  1. There's got to be some mechanical problems at that price. Seems very good value if you're good at fixing these beasts yourself.
  2. 22000kms until the next oil change. That's a bit long to wait?
  3. Doubt it. The paint will not etch easily in to a polished smooth aluminium surface.
  4. Get the lips machined. (There is a good engineering shop by the name of mac-weld in takanini where I got my style 5 curb rashes cleaned up) strip the paint, sand, prime, colour and clear coats. Buff out any orange peel and done. Wkends worth of work for not much money at all.
  5. I called hella about 3 weeks ago... 2k ea for the xenons... and around 700 ea for the halogens.
  6. Thought about getting one for my fiance, but after doing some research, the 4cyl petrol engines don't have a good track record....

  8. Parking wardens are like those annoying speed camera vans parked up on the mway. I see at least 1 person get fined everyday in the akl cbd. I swear the one guy gets employee of the month. He is ruthless and has rifle scopes for eyes. Im sure the reason why the council wardens have cameras on them is due to this warden getting punched.

  10. Recommend getting some poor boys branded wheel sealant. This stuff makes cleaning your shiny wheels a breeze, and protects from brake dust eating away at the glossy finish. Its around 50bux from a distributor in tauranga but the pot will last u ages. Can send u link to his site if u want.
  11. Restoration project is nearing the end. Pretty good going for less than 12 months of ownership. Has been a very enjoyable, yet frustrating experience at times... Have learned a lot about the e39 m5 along the way, and overall i'm very happy with the outcome. Have considered doing some mods, but imo it's already a modded e39 by the M divison so will leave as is for now, and just keep her well maintained. Just a few little things to be done to bring it up to my standard (famous last words...) - Fix stone chips on bonnet (re-spray) - fix corrosion on window trims - Get a jack - New front inner door sill trim panels - Install genuine xenon headlamp units (awaiting arrival) Very happy with the wheel refurb, has cleaned up the appearance.

    Benz E63 AMG

Quite like the e60 m5. But put off by the complicated tech and non diy friendly servicing. The v10 is a beast and sounds amazing. Are you going to open the sound up a bit? As for running an m5 as a daily - if you can get over the fuel bill its not all that bad. If you're fussy (like me) it can get pricey but we have an abundance of parts available oseas, I have dis, inpa, ncs experts and dis along with decent tools so im happy to doy most things. Its only when a hoist is required I need to get pros on to a job. Anyway Dave all the best with the e60! Hopefully not as bad as they're made out to be.
  13. does the new batt have a 'magic eye' ? They indicate if the batt is sufficiently charged , or not based on the color of the eye.
  14. have you checked how much a genuine replacement water pump is??
  15. Dave why not just keep it? These cars are proven to do big mileage so long as you keep on top of maintenance. Your resale value is already affected due to age. Low kms although important to most, is not the holy grail for enthusiasts. It's in immaculate condition!
  16. Originally of an E39 M-tech 2 car. They fit over E39 m5 brakes, as i have been using them while I get my style 65's refurb'd. Some curb marks and tar stains. Tyres are wof'able. Almost new fronts. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/wheels-tyres/alloy-wheels/auction-704394713.htm
  17. Does it have a cut out on the left hand side so it can cater for the Navigation unit lump? SImilar to this :
