  1. It is cheap, but rust does kinda scare me. We seem to have the back stuff under control so that is good. The rest of the car has surprising less rust. We had it up on a hoist today and the only real rust under the car was the back stuff. So that is a relief.
  2. Yet to be decided.... I'm going to the Ukraine in November to work for 3 months... so I think any big engine stuff is going to have to wait until next year..
  3. I just picked up this beast today from Auckland, it's a 1988 325i auto. It came on trademe last night and the guy was wanting $1500 then put the price up to $2000. I called him up, told him I'd buy it and to take it off trademe. I went up this morning and paid $1200 for it, after having a good look over it. It's a British import, and it has rust. Below the battery at the back and on the opposite side also there is rust, but other than that there is not much. Engine runs fine but I dont think it has a thermostat, and it looks as if the headgasket has been replaced before. Engine still has heaps of power so it will do for now. The front guards are both damaged from the tyres and need rolling, and also one has a dent at the front. Things to do - Suspension had a horrible clunk in it. We replaced the control arms with E36 ones today, and now there is no more clunks at all! - Repair rust at back ( 50% done already, tonight Troy ( 320guy ) and i got to work sanding it back and we used that metally filler stuff to tidy it up. Probably could do with welding a new piece in but I cant afford that for now, so we did the best we could do. ) - Roll guards, remove dent on left guard, and paint. - Minor surface rust in sunroof needs repairing - Needs repainting in places, clear coat has pealed on the right A-pillar. Most of the car just needs a good cut and polish though. - Manual Conversion - Tidy interior - Fix oil cooler mounts, Someone decided it would be a good idea to hold it in with tie downs... Thats about all I can think of at the moment. My priority is to get rid of the rust and get the body tidy and then get to work on other things. I only paid $1200 for the car, so I'm pretty happy with it. I'm thinking $3300 ( including perchase of car ) will have it looking tidy with rust gone and manual conversion. I'll let ya know how i get on.
  4. Bad luck dude! I just got a call from the cops yesterday saying im off to court for "careless driving" for a motorcycle accident I had 6 months ago. I had already forgotten about it and moved on... wont go into technicalities but I'm going to fight it ( not on the grounds that they took 6 months obviously. ) Dumb.
  5. http://www.trud-rezerv.org/index.php?p=gal...d=37&area=1 Well I got a job in the Ukraine over the summer holidays teaching English so I've been searching up heaps on the Ukraine... After searching randomly I decided to search "Ukrainian e30" just to see what comes up and this thing does. I think it's awesome, its like nothing I've seen before... a 2 door 4 door lol
  6. Chrome is over, bottle caps will be the next big thing. Trust me.
  7. I want to buy an e30 facelift coupe. I would prefer a 325i manual but I am also keen on anything else at the right price as long as the body is in alright condition. Anyone know of any? Trademe has very little at the moment...
  8. By the way is that not Logans WRX in your sig? lol.

  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=233960654 It's back up. Although it's such a cool car... and when i saw it i LOVED it, I do really want an e30 afterall... - No im not selling it for a profit - No it's not because there is anything wrong with it - Yes it was pretty much an impulse buy, I just want something lower, smaller, more "sporty" Call me mad

I'm not sure if this is bad new or not, but the e28 is gonna go back on trademe! I bought it hoping it would be like my old e30, but although it's such an awesome car... I'm just not feelin it. Gonna sell it for cheaper than I paid ( so dont think i just bought it to make a profit!!! ) Kinda sad, but yea... when i first saw it i loved it, and i still do, i wish i could have a e28 and a e30, but I cant. E30 > E28 for me at the moment, so up it goes again... Possibly the shortest time I'll ever own a car.... but not by much =P

    I don't get this

So if someone burnt down your place at night, and you had luckly just left 2 minutes earlier, you would be fine with them getting a year in prison? What about if someone stole your life savings, 1 year in prison? Come on!
  16. Says its off a 1986 though Dont forget to include postage from Christchurch and the cost of getting a new clutch etc. Could be having to take it out again in a few weeks if ya dont..
  17. What was the name of the outfit in Melbourne? $500NZ sounds very reasonable considering. When you say you used mtechs? You mean motorsport springs out of an e28? They would probably be quite hard to find in the first place. And where did you go to get them cut and balanced? Last resort, that is getting a bit out of my price range for springs.. Thanks though.
  18. Interesting. Thanks for that. Do you have any springs available I could buy?

it doesn't handle too bad, it handles kinda like old e30 did before i replaced the springs with lower ones, made a huge difference.

Yep, I think even the normal black front lip would make it look better. I'm thinking I'll take the kit off, if it looks good I'll stick with it off, if I feel it would look better with a full kit, I'll save up and get the front mtech piece. It's kinda like driving a bouncy castle compared to the 36. Hopefully a bit of drop will fix this.

Meh, I do that all the time. I'm guessing he will do it soon, he seemed like a rather busy guy. I'm thinking of taking the side skirts off... they just dont really do it for me... anyone know how hard it is to do? Cant be that hard.
