Actually, there also nothing wrong with the brakes on them in good condition, unless you are doing some pretty heavy duty track work. -

I helped (didn't make the adapters, but did the research on rotor options etc and some of the assembly) for one with: - skyline 4 pot front calipers - Honda s2000 rotors (300x25 x40), which needed redrilling - skyline 2 pot rears - a certain E46 vented rear rotor (might have been a 330i) - new lines - wheels with a lot of "x-factor" (space for calipers). No dish allowed (without lots of spacer) - also needs master cylinder upgrade That's between $1000 and $3000 depending on whether you get new rotors and race pads or not and can personally make the caliper adapters, and would be less if you did front only. Plus the wheels. I seem to remember the RX7 upgrade needs a specific Corrado rotor - you'd probably have to buy them new. I've got no idea if they work well or not. -

US$100 is cheap, unless you want to make the adaptors yourself. I guess you need to find the calipers and rotors for a good price too. You'll need a cert. -
Its worth checking the shocks - at 110k km my front ones were knackered (on bump). You could feel it on turn in - the front would slightly bob and take two goes at the corner.

Awesome. I've got a pair of half worn T1Rs in 225/45 if that's all you need (ie, to fix the rear). Not looking for much for them (like $50 or whatever's fair, you tell me).

The last internets rumouring I saw was the next one (edit - meaning the small car - not M3) might be a 4 cylinder turbo. Not necessarily a bad thing if its fast, responsive and light. Full circle to the original S14'd M3. On creating a new breed of M buyers, maybe that is their goal, and a noble one. In this economy, its a brave move to limit profit on any car for any reason.

Whether the internets is credible or not, I still think they'll sell as many as they can profitably. If they don't make any money on them, then they might not, and if there's some other reason (like, they can make something else for more profit on those lines), they might not. Either way I don't really care, but I think they'd be stupid to stop making them simply so they're rare. The only reason to do that .... would be to charge more for it. Which they aren't.

I'm not sure it understeers that much. See Dylan's reply above, and I'd say that while mine does, its not terrible (haven't been on the track yet though). The car's ... effective, if not particularly engaging, and its heavy for what it is (same weight as an E36 M3). Dylan - Clinton's the Dunedin dwelling X5 loving serial car buyer and seller currently known as "The Diesel Guy". He's a good dude. But he can't hang onto a car for very long!

I dub thee the north island Clinton, . I saw in the other thread its current S3 - which chip, and is it a good tune? What was it like to drive at the track (I realise not an M3, but was it bad?). <--- Reason for questions - budget S3.

Given the market for cars that sell is sub $20k (albeit with higher mileage), I think he'll be waiting a while if he wants $30k. (edit - I sold mine in that range $15-20k range - well looked after, 134k km, NZ new, sedan, etc)

Ring them and ask for a quote for insurance for some other car, get it, then call back a day later and say you forgot to tell them you had larger wheels and can they please requote. Kick up a fuss if they try to charge more and try get them to do it for the same price. With evidence of it not mattering in hand, ask them if they're sure the wheels are such a problem.

Troy does have a point - its just an extremely low CS with very nice wheels that probably foul the guards, and the whole car will be scared of speedbumps and driveways (unless its on air). Still very nice to look at.

To even achieve that boost level it would need to have upgraded turbos etc.

That's got to be one of the better eras for race cars. Oh, and I can't resist... "pretty good stance - nice rake, good stretch at the front, great dish, just about enough poke, but needs more low"

No boost at all means either the turbo(s) is (are) broken (and you think not); the wastegate (both?) are stuck open; or there is a massive boost leak (or I guess possible exhaust leak) and/or possibly bung bypass valve. I guess its also possible the electro boost control is telling it not to boost and to hold the wastegates open. Is it modified?
