The one I was looking at for the e87 was touch screen but also still supported the iDrive controller. I think it did require an upgraded controller though.
  3. Ecstuning in the US. I think they absorbed Turner Motorsport.

$400 USD at the moment. https://avinusa.com/8-8-multimedia-navigation-system-for-bmw-5-series-6-series-e60-e61-e63-e64.html I have been meaning to do this in my 130i. I hate the little CIC screen in it. It's so dated.

Wouldn't it be better to just replace the unit with an Android based unit?
  6. Changed the video. The coils were from Bavarian Motorsport https://www.ecstuning.com/b-assembled-by-ecs-parts/ignition-service-kit/12137594937pkt/ The boxes clearly state Made in China with near no other info. Check this out. The air in the coilpack has nowhere to go when inserting a plug. So the plug gets forced out. The coil packs actually push themselves off the plug in the engine. Then one of them ballooned out. I never even plugged them in. As for the motor. I have no idea if it reset or not. I tried the Ignition on and 15 pumps of the gas but there was no response from the motor. Not sure if INPA can do it. Don't have ISTA on the device I have with me at the moment.
  7. So I replaced the Valvetronic motor today. While I was at it I replaced the rocker cover gaskets which were weeping. I did not enjoy this job. Mostly because I did not have my own tools. I'm pretty sure the I made the valvetronic motor relearn it's limits. But not 100%. However the coils I got from ECS tuning are absolute junk and will be going back. Now when I started the car I noticed a tick. Putting my trusty old long screwdriver to my ear I found the tick is coming from Injector number one. The car has a slight rough idle and the misfire has not gone away. But it wasn't there before. So whilst it is noisy I don't think it is causing the misfire (which is gone at high RPM). Ideas? Eccentric shaft sensor? Check the video. You can here the high speed tick after the RPM drops down. But it is gone at higher RPM. https://youtu.be/VsQket5aYYs
  8. We should screw up the market. All advertise our cars at once for $15k+ and see what happens.
  9. This one was a manual 6 speed. I wouldn't mind having a go in another one tbh. Wondering if the one I had was a dud. It was well loved though and not neglected. Did you drive your brothers @GorGasm? His was a Mk6 right? I need to learn my Golfs.
  10. Sorry yeah MK6. I don't know my VWs. I went out of my way to drive this one to see why people like them. I didn't.
  11. 7K worth of Rotaforms and black paint for the grill and 130i badge?
  12. Interesting some of you like the Mk5. I had one for two weeks in the US and we didn't like it. I wont go into too much detail. But I found it noisy, the steering, clutch and gearbox had no feeling. It wasn't all that comfortable or as powerful as people made out. It was a meh car for me. Maybe that's what makes it a good commuter? But then I would just get a Mazda. Its Meh and will cost you far far less when (if) it goes wrong.

    Quick rant thread.

Oh well. I will wait another month. My parts from ECS still haven't shown up. Two days from the US to NZ. Five days in NZ so far. Out for delivery apparently. At least the $800usd package didn't get picked up by customs.. Their new system is sh*t isn't it. Well not for us.

    Can Indi's complete recalls?

    Quick rant thread.

Been waiting a month to get the 130 to BMW for a recall notice they issued. There is a snow warning on the Remutaka's in effect until midday tomorrow so we rang to re-book. Next appointment. 4th of August. Is Winger BMW really that busy? Or are they just fobbing off recall customers.

    Ubiquiti UniFi

Cheers guys. I will have to have a hunt around for some info on the dropping of features etc. Especially around the security stuff. The home will have some smart devices. Especially the heat pump. Remote access to these devices is a must. I house sat a few months back and the house had a Smart Kettle. I laughed and thought why would you. But asking it to turn on from bed was fun. And smart bulbs are handy. The sharing of information is my only concern. There is ways to block all that I guess.

    Ubiquiti UniFi

So I have been looking at options for home network and security. I'm in the position where I want to start from scratch removing all my old random gear of various brands and moving to one well reviewed system. Ubiquiti so far seems to have everything I want. Especially integration of systems, remote management, a UI anyone can use. And the security software and hardware is not a stupid amount of money and doesn't need a subscription service. I'm looking at a WiFi 6 mesh system (maybe overkill) Cloud Key Gen2 POE 4K Cameras and supporting swtiches Only the cameras will be run via Ethernet (POE). All other devices will be run on the low latency WiFi. It all looks great on paper. But I am wondering if anyone has a system, thought about getting a system. Or is running UI stuff in their workplace? Or maybe you are running something else? Cloud Key Gen2 https://unifi-protect.ui.com/cloud-key-gen2 4k Cameras, https://www.ui.com/unifi-video/unifi-video-camera-g4-pro/ AmpliFi Mesh system (Not the WiFi 6 version) https://amplifi.com/gamers-edition WiFI 6 version - The only thing not at a reasonable price. https://store.amplifi.com/products/amplifi-alien-router-mesh
  18. Whites the best colour for them.
  19. Another update and a surprise. Went to fill up the diesel truck at Gull today. Whilst standing there holding the broken trigger lock on the pump handle I noticed a sign where there is usually an ad. I filled up the 1 series there the day it started running really bad. Worse than it already was due to the valvetronic. I don't think the 95 fuel is at fault. But I think it probably compounded the issue. Parts should be here this week from ECS. Will find some time in the dark to install them.
  20. E87s are great and I'm glad I got one over an equivalent E90. That's all I have to say.
  21. Update. It dropped a cylinder yesterday completely. No. 3 coil pack died. Luckily I was 1km around the corner from a wrecker that had one. Still running like crap with the same code for the valvetronic motor. Ordered a new motor and gasket kit. 6 new coil packs. And a rocker cover gasket from ECS tuning. All for less than what bmw wanted for just the motor.
  22. I got 5w30 Edge for 50% off last year. Usually use Elf oils. But nobody sells it down here. At a reasonable price that is. Like everything in NZ....
  23. I'm going with Totalspan. 12x7.5x3. They were the most competitive in the area. Don't forget you may need wind zone strengthening. But your talking factory rather than shed. That's huge.
  24. The sliding door opens right into the carpark haha. Yeah Olaf that is a 535is manual from the UK. My cars red twin. It's in average condition. I thought about leaving a note to buy it.
  25. This Hotel room that opens directly into a carpark building is by far not the worst I've stayed in. Spotted a Red E30 too.
