  1. 550i. Oh well get ready for much more expensive repairs. When those valve guides die...
  2. I just read this post. Was gutted I missed out..... It was a hard weekend at a Rock festival.
  3. You will hate to hear that I had trouble finding an E46 or E39 that was the spec I wanted that was not a manual. Had a few rentals in DC that were manual. Even an E60 550i which was good fun. But this is DC. Similar traffic to Auckland at times.
  4. Sometimes cooling hoses can be different. Make sure you find you part numbers via realOEM first. Enter the part numbers into the websites above and there you have it.
  5. Yup FCP Euro, VAC Motorsports, ECS Tuning are the best sources. They do OEM or aftermarket. You can get seal kits. Upper and Lower. You can also get hose kits and service kits that include the pump etc. You may want to look at some upgrades too. Jump on their websites and input your vehicle details. Go from there. Just remember it's in USD and you will need to pay GST once the stuff arrives.
  6. Thought about bringing back a classic of some sort. But I pissed around. Need to own it for at least 1 year or you pay GST.
  7. Yeah good point. haha. I was thinking of buying a 335 or 135 when I come back from the US. But here they are 6-10K. And there are so many manuals.
  8. Atlantis is amazing in person. One day.

    Quick rant thread.

Oh it will. I did learn one important lesson. NEVER work for the Government. It feels like every department is full of people who failed at what the actually wanted to be. Yet they still scramble over each other to get the next shitty role.
  10. Surprising. Probably one of the most common colors here in the US. Bimmerfest East had quite easily a dozen of them parked in the mob of 30 odd M3's and M4's. Very popular for good reason. I do wonder if it will age well though. BMW picks some pretty timeless colors. But then you get the baby poo gold of the E46 M3. It dates the car badly IMO.

    Quick rant thread.

I'm going through all that sh*t right now. I'm working a fill in job in the US for Immigration NZ. INZ is shutting down all their overseas offices (bar the cheap ones in India and China). I couldn't care less about the job. But it does mean I have to find other crap to do whilst I am here and I have to go through their joke of a process. Many promises have been made. But I don't trust them at all. Trying to get something in writing has gone nowhere so far.

    My New Trolley

I drove something like this a few years ago as a rental in Canada. 1.6 turbo got along quite well. Can't remember what it was. Brand new Hyundai of some sort. It wasn't memorable but it was comfortable, had enough power and great on gas. I do remember everything feeling over assisted. Dave's comment triggered my memory of driving it TBH. Can't go wrong really. Bet it will last forever too. I liked the color.
  13. As long as you have the car fully checked over by an indy. Corrosion is a nightmare. The M3's I have a look under here in DC are shocking.
  14. All I can add to this is Do not buy an Audi. Not until you can afford a warranty to go with it.
  15. Just stream the World Cup for free. A stream for any sport can be found for nothing on Reddit. There is even a reddit motorsport streams sub. Racing from all over the world. Sky is about to be purchased by one or the other biggest c**ts in industry. Fox or Comcast. Both bidding for it. (Excuse the language but they are both the ultimate forms of scum)
  16. I didn't know you had moved on Glenn. I've been gone a long time though. Enjoy retirement.
  17. I pay for Motortrend on demand. Mainly because it's the best way to get the V8 Supercars in the US. But there is a ton of shows on there. Most pretty grass roots and still good. And it's only $5 us a month.
  18. Has anyone imported a large TV into NZ before? Not accompanied by other goods. I want to send my old man a TV from the US as they are a fraction of the price. It's a new model but second hand from me. It's in its box but being fragile I would think it's quite risky.
  19. Be glad you didn't. Non stop complaints on the forums here about them. It's now a joke to join the side of the highway getting towed club.
  20. Wow. E39's are worth nothing here in the US. Seen them just as tidy going through the auctions for less than $4K. Few M5's sneak in under $10K every now and then. Though the NZD is shitting itself.
  21. That system too lean code is a prick. It can mean so many damn things.
  22. Oh imagine the Nimby's for that idea. Lake Road says no. On another note the closure of Western Springs has bummed a few Americans out too. Met a bunch of guys from one of the US teams whom have been going for years. I met them at a Tractor Pull in Maryland. Of course.
  23. Those two lights can mean a number of things. Mostly all related. ABS pump issue Wheel speed sensor issue (most common) Steering Angle sensor issue If you are going to get another cheap scanner I would recommend something like the C110. They are about $50USD on Amazon. If you want help getting one let me know. I have both Torque and a C110 and Torque misses quite a bit. Strangely my codes look much different than yours. I'm not even sure those are real codes.
  24. If you feel like a drive into town a friend of mine would be happy to help. He knows E30's inside out thanks to all the sh*t that went wrong with mine and other bimmersporters. His name is Brendon. Hope Hickman Auto Electrical. Address: 38 Monmouth St, Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021, New Zealand Tell him Dan from the USA sent you.

    Quick rant thread.

I've been tainted by overnight, free shipping and cheap well branded parts. I'm dreading coming back to NZ. Though there will be many many parts coming back with me. Many. All of the parts.
