That picture is hiding it as much as possible. Also it's still a fat turd. It weighs only 20kg's less than my boat of an E class Merc. These guys at the ring recently dumped their one due to the excessive wear it puts on tyres, brakes, driveshafts and ball joints.

I am having the time for my commute along a state highway increased from 30mins each way to 40-45mins each way. Also having 21 raised pedestrian crossings installed of which I will need to cross the majority. I am going to be interested to see what this does to my fuel economy too. Introducing many new acceleration points. An OIA was completed on how many deaths in the last 10 years on this stretch of road. Answer was 5 since 2011. Of the ones where speed was a factor. The speed limit had not been a concern by those people and they were well and above any limit. But they were included in their blanket stats. 1300 public submissions were submitted in regards to the speed limit changes on the road between Featherston and Masterton alone. Zero changes were made to the initial plan....

Potentially that key does not have the EWS chip in it or is the spare for unlocking the car only. The car is behaving the exact way my E39 540i did when I dropped the EWS part of the key whilst I was changing the battery.

I would also say EWS. Do you have the original key?

Interesting body lines on the front of that white one. Wonder if the gearbox has been under filled. Very common issue.

Ah yeah it is quite a bit different. The E39 rear has two mufflers, one being just a bypass of some kind. You can cut one out and get a nice tone under load which is what I did. A mate of mine owns the Pitstop in Albany. He is on holiday at the moment and probably at least until the end of the month. But he has done some magic with BMW's. Understands how raspy they can get. This is more of a thing the more cars you have haha. 7 cars and only 2 of them take the same oil... the two that are used the least

I am also pretty picky when it comes to exhaust notes. That is strange considering I have owned many SR20DET's in my time and they sound like sh*t at the best of times. But I did my best to make them not sound like 90% of the ones out there on our roads at the moment. With my old E39 540i we tried removing the rear bypass muffler only. So at idle it was quiet. But under load it opened up. No raspy notes or drone. Does the E34 have a similar setup or is it a more traditional straight exhaust with no bypass? We did a convoy with Ollie and Andy (Bimmersport Founders) many years back travelling to an E30 race series round. 1 x E34 540i and 2 x E39 540i's. I was at the back and I could hear Ollies E34 the entire way from Auckland to Manfield. Lots of drone. Avoid that. Maybe E39 exhaust parts could help?

Got the quietest drive I have had in over a decade in my old man's old E55 between Masterton and Napier. Not one car behind or in front until 20mins out from Napier. I couldn't believe it. Was so refreshing and relaxing.

Had quite a few of them. One of my old ones was listed for $65k just a few weeks back. I imported it for $6k in 2003. My wife still has her S13. She often laughs when people tell her it's worth $30k. She paid $3k for it. And would never pay anywhere near $30k for one. Just like E30s, they were only good because they were cheap.

Yup its likely they handed it to another service. But now its off the radar. So who knows. The PBT chat bot was more helpful than any human I have spoken with.

Black Friday sales in NZ. Waste of time. Most of the stuff I have found on sale from Repco/Supercheap is not actually as cheap as it has been in other random sales. If you are going to embrace a big sales day from another country at least put some effort into it. All they have seem to have done is change the title of their normal every week sales.

Always a chance the car has had a Vin swap. Do a thorough check around the Vin stamps.

I'm just chucking each fill into a logging app. Mainly to track how much money I am burning on cars. All of it...
