  1. So its around GBP35k in the UK, $68k here. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?sort=price-asc&postcode=ll652yh&radius=1500&make=BMW&model=Alpina D3&include-delivery-option=on&price-from=500&year-from=2016&minimum-badge-engine-size=3.0 With Import Duty and GST, lets say around $80k here, landed. He wants a 50% uplift on that actual cost and thats not even a fair comparison as in the UK it had a 12x larger market, a market that likes/liked/incentivised diesels and a more affluent market. Its a hard sell in NZ on all levels. "Yes. A very attractive price given the original cost and the cost to bring one of similar age and mileage for offshore today. Try ordering one from the Australian Alpina agent. " Right. The "original cost" has little to do with the current cost on a rapidly depreciating asset like a car. Given its still valuable but that pitch and price makes him look foolish/toolish. Though he only needs one buyer.
  2. Sounds good! I flicked through the build pages, couldnt find mention if they fitted the E46 M3 LSD? Presume they did!?
  3. That is just awesome. If the crypto markets recover a bit more, Ill be in touch! Exhaust wise, how noisy?
  4. I figured this out, it's a 3 pin connection like the e24 and w12 in my early e28. Black is tacho. White & black is presumably econo guage.
  5. Just got my M54b30 powered e28 on the road, couple of small bits left. One of which is the tachometer. I just need to connect the m54 to e28 harness engine speed wire to Pin 1 of c104, according to instructions. Rhd car, where is c104.. Lot of wiring going on in my glove box!
  6. Man thats nice I really need to get some proper E28 seats for mine! And probably an LSD too.
  7. Ill be the first to admit my sample size was probably too small, I was recalling 2 or 3 that were near or above $20k. Ironically, Im usually the one trying to convince people to stop paying and inflating the E30 tax and buy a 5 series instead too, so I agree with you there on your price suggestion.
  8. I dont need anything to back up an opinion but I do have a rational; that the $10k+ and 20k+ for the older M30 block in the E34 is overpriced. Sure, 3 to 10k maybe fine, have at it. I've had the M30 and have had the M60 and the M50 (and soon an M54) in the E28 and many, many E34s. I grew up with E34s in my family. The M60 is simply a beautiful engine, in power delivery, smoothness (even though its a V8) and sounds good too. The M50 is just a nice overall engine, a huge quality of living increase over the really old M30. The 535i "shitting all over the M50" (I never mentioned the M20, equally archaic, not sure why you mention it? ) I presume you mean in terms of torque and power? Yeah, sure, but in practice the lightness and comparative freshness of the M50 in a 525i is nicely matched in the E34. Its a more modern engine for a more modern BMW. But I don't really care, I'm not a major fan of the M50, its just a sweet spot overall. A well setup M50 e34 is a nice handling, driving car. The M30 is fine, but I've never been enamoured with it. I think the peak E34 is the 540i and I think the M30 has a lot of respect/fan service but IMO is overrated. I also think most of the 540's here have been ruined by idiots but that's beside the point, in stock form it was excellent. I don't think the M30 535i is bad, I just dont think it compares that well to the V8 for similar prices. Being "designed in the same decade" doesnt really make cars similar, at all. Have you driven an E28? I have one, but christ its basic. The E34 is nothing at all like that. I also don't think the statement is even correct, given the E34 was developed from '81 and launched in '88.. the E28 is a 70's design (with a mild refresh in the early 80s, kinda) with similar'ish suspension but inferior and older.. so Im not really sure what you are on about there.
  9. The E34 is not at all like an E28!? The E28 feels way older, way lighter and way rougher, ie, it feels like a classic. The E34 just feels like an older "modern" car. Also the E34 535is is grossly overpriced (at least in NZ), so its not a good value for money proposition anyhow. The E34 525i and 540i were probably the peak E34's, aside from M5's (but even still, 540i vs older tech M5.. hmm). Probably not more expensive (ie E28 parts are cheaper than E30), but less aftermarket/used parts yes. E34 parts are fairly available and it has a bit more of a tuner scene than the e28. The E28 is "slashed" with the E24, not the E34 btw.
  10. Yeah, in future I think thats exactly what I will do. Lots of room there to just drop in a complete electric fan kit and free HP for me to boot. Right now though, my 3D printed shroud will get past this hurdle. Ill screw it to the existing black "lip" thats there and bring the curve/shape out more. Just did a quick print in PLA, will check it and look through my collection of filament for a more heat appropriate one.
  11. Yeah I was thinking of something alone those lines, though Coroflute seems to be good only to low temps of 66c?
  12. 99.99% complete on the M54B30 into E28 conversion. Couple of bits left, one annoying one is they want a shroud (or should I say, more of a shroud, the stock one is at least partially there, I can't remember what it looked like before) to cover the fan. There is a fan shroud lip on it now, but needs a "hood" about 55mm long to cover the fan blades. Looking for a fast solution, any ideas? Im mocking up a something with the 3D printer now, but thought Id ask here anyhow.
  13. I accidentially ordered two of these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/143038655865 Flat black, can be painted or installed as is. Really give the dumpy GT model a more visually appealing silhouette shape IMO. I paid USD $137, anyone in Wellington want it for NZD $120? Pretty good deal and pretty sure none available in NZ anyhow.
  14. I had a CSi so Im a big fan, even of the pseudo 850i CSi, but LHD is a big turn off and LHD + Manual even more so. I think it would be really odd to swap gears with the wrong hand?
  15. Pretty much doubled the price due to manual but took nothing off for lack of MSport and those wheels...
  16. Yeah, seems to have no clue on what a CSi is either. I checked the VIN and its all legit. Not sure on the logic by the seller of listing all 3 at the same time given the limited market here.
  17. I'm not convinced my modded e36 msport seats will pass cert so what else out there that fits? Ideally sports and leather.
  18. I think your link expired, but I assume this is yours? https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m4/listing/3315088789?bof=8ksmBpsT Just posting incase anyone is looking for it, love the car.
  19. Yeah I actually think it looks kinda cool, but an Automatic 5 speed M52 (IRC) 2.5 litre with all that kit screams show-not-go. That lot on a 540i Manual would be a lot more beastly as they put it.
  20. Instead of making a new topic, Ill just repeat the want to buy - E28 (or compatible E34, E24 etc) sports/leather seats!
  21. The Phaeton was VW's ultra luxury car, to compete with the S-Class, 7 Series, A8 etc. Shares the same platform & parts as the Bentley Flying Spur.. a poor man's Bentley! This would be a great buy for someone that has outgrown the Golf R32 (same engine) or Passat R36 or just wants something more unusual than a big Merc or BMW. This particular model is a Singapore Import, was owned by an executive limo company. Phaetons are all pretty decked out and this one is no exception (& has a few extras): 3.2l VR6 Engine - sounds as amazing as it does on the R32. Easiest & cheapest to service. Chain driven. 4 zone independent climate + rear climate screen Premium 14-way electric seats: heating, cooling & massage functions (front & rear!) Side Sunblinds + rear blind is electric Put the alternate front grille (from V10 model) I saved from when I had one of these in Europe, 8 years ago but looks fresh! Loooong Wheelbase model, stupidly huge rear seat room Double Xenon, Dipped & Main beams are Xenons which is pretty rare, but effective. Sunroof, Parking Sensors, Electric Folding & heated mirrors, Infotainment, CD Changer Auto close doors (aside from drivers) 4 Motion AWD - proper mechanical Torsen based, quattro type as in A8 Air Suspension, self levelling, adjustable heights (for snow, floods etc) Genuine Audi RS5 19" low offset wheels, were new, look amazing 4x Pirelli's, near full tread Servicing; I did the following (& have receipts etc): Complete front suspension arms upper and lower! Oil and Filter change (inc. cabin filter) Bonnet / Boot Struts Front Parking Sensors changed Replaced Power Tailgate (boot) module 6x Spark Plugs Rocker cover & spark plug gaskets New Mass Airflow Meter New Xenons / wiring harness Wipers & washer pump Headlight washer plastic covers - nearly every VW seems to be missing these (not installed in photos ) Rear Air Con controls fixed and screen replaced (its missing some pixels but works fine) Finally OZone treated the interior, leaves it fresh smelling and kills off anything and everything from the last 15years. Supplying parts I didnt need or use Water pump (appeared to be fitted recently), belts Thermostat & VW coolant pipe Leather dye, had some left over Note, the not great things Front lower bumper is cracked in spots Despite replacing all the front suspension, I couldnt get it perfectly quiet when cold, little bit of noise there still on really bad roads Most of paintwork is great, but some stone chips on front Pop up washers not installed (supplied though) Brake pad change alert popping up, due at some point in the future. Price these at about EUR450 for discs & pads front and rear, so not insane pricing Its a 15 year old luxo barge with about 190k KM, so some awareness of future TLC recommended! Asking Price: On Trade Me for $9000 buy it now, but will definitely do better for Bimmersport Members.
  22. Giving the forum moderators the benefit of doubt, I would suspect the issue was the price wasnt in the post itself, but the price was in the link on TM (asking price specified etc).
  23. For sure, Ive had 2 (manual and auto), both great though last one was too boganed out by PO. Id love a nice, clean 540i E34 Touring.
  24. So.. can I repost my advert without it being mysteriously murdered in the night again?
  25. Yeah I did those things on theirs too, but should couldnt find where else the water was ingressing. I kinda think it was the rear of the pano roof, not channelling into the water drains at all but running down the C pillars. It got so mysterious that if the car was parked a certain direction beside house wall it probably wouldnt happen!
