Its a paradox...
-
SA spec cars came with them, my 320i came stock with all the uprated (325) gear. Made my motor swap cheaper as I didnt have to sort out the small case diff etc etc.
-
Sounds like its coming along Max, sump shouldn't cost much to get welded if you just take it in and if its a relatively straight forward crack (doesent snake off in all directions etc etc) Dont forget to bleed that bitch of a clutch!
-
Get the tool (handy to have), get the grease, their supposed to be a dry clutch but they need a bit of lube on the release bearing, a couple times I havent put enough on and I get squeaking noises as it slides along the shaft, but dont put too much on! The gearbox slides in on an angle, just put it on your jack (assuming you have a floor jack) line it up and slide it towards the motor, once its lined up (correctly) it will slide in fairly easily.

but fuel for completely different capacities!

Could be : Diff hanger bush, diff mounting bolts loose, drive shaft to diff bolts loose, centre hanger and bearing. Wheel coming off?
-
Silly question David, of course your mad. Start this project, when can I move in?
-
Looking damn good James, how much did those guards set you back? Is this becoming a habbit not bolting things on hmmm? I do recall some mtech 2 bits sort of "flapping" around hahaha.
-
I dig it. Just for what its worth I own half a plantengrun e30 (two doors and two panels haha) it used to belong to Ryan (rjs) Its the only other one I've seen.

Ooooohhhhhhh god i'm in love.

Happy Birthday, do something crazy.

And there's a sneaky commodore wagon that I've seen thats all blacked out with the lights sort of behind the tints and are not visible, only reason I saw this in the first place is because it was parked in my driveway.

Easily one of the toughest guys I've ever seen. I know I'd be scared straight if I saw him in that car barrelling down the track behind me. Also I bet this guy wasn't a softie and wore no helmet, that ones just for show.
-
I had my car towed because the ticket slid off my dashboard when another car hit it in a car park.... :| No refund either, $250. And to top it off, I was on the north shore, and they towed it to Mt Eden...

A mechanic not fluent with bmws will most likely put the wrong oil in these gearboxes, this won't cause the whine but could possibly amplify it, our getrags use automatic transmission fluid ( yes you heard right ) it might pay to either ask what oil was put in, and if it's not the correct type, replace it, or do it anyway. They use a fully synthetic ATF, I use redline high performance ATF,

I've always understood the getrag 260 to be slightly better than the 240. Its the "sport" box, a bit tougher with a better ratio, but that goes against what his "mechanic" told him, as the e30 boys use a 240 which isn't the better of the two... but still damn good ( I'm using one ) Mine has a bit of a whine in first disappearing through second.

Saw one of these bad boys in South Africa when I was there earlier this year. Very nice, also saw more 325is's than I expected.

2.7 engine recaro seats mtec gear knob dumpy exhaust compression 190 new rings would improve speedo in miles has new headlining NO TRADES 15 in m sport wheels I love how this is just casually slotted in there in the hopes people just skim over it hahaha. For $3500 that's not bad, especially if you do the work yourself on the block and if needed the head. I wonder what combination he's running in his 2.7...

The fact that your getting SOME sort of smoke coming out of your manifold should suggest you are getting some sort of detonation and therefore spark right? Just noting that your battery also goes flat very fast?
-
I have the early block, 11:1 CR - I'm using a 885 head though and a few other differences so its dropped a little bit, still quite high though, the 731 will keep that compression ratio just make sure that you use 98 - mine wont run happily on anything less (pinks) Anthony, not all 320i's share the same CR, you've got the CR that your b27 originally started with, just the added benefits head and all the rest, its a good CR.
-
I know a few who've had ARC eye, I haven't personally and don't intend to, but I've had some burns, one time I got a nasty freak splatter from my weld which bounced up landing on my head and of course I wasn't wearing a helmet. An interesting experiment dude is to get someone to weld something in your house and go outside and watch your power meter spin, it goes faster than your car will
-
Yep that's right, the regulator that you bought with the bottle should have it outlined in its leaflet/instructions in big bold letters haha. And yes, the power bill can get nasty very quickly! That's why I always offer to take my welder around to other peoples houses if they want work done hahahah (I'm a cheap ass) I'd rather lug the welder, bottle and gear around. I'm using a D bottle as well and for my it's only $64 per refill.... from BOC maybe they have different prices according to where their refill stations are - IE further travel costs as they don't fill on-site. Seriously though... auto darkening welding helmet, best thing in the world, ever. Not to expensive either, and your welding gets WAY better haha.
-
You'd have to me moving at 200k's just to cross all the lanes horizontally in an accident! Those are some mega motorways.
-
Just you wait for the power bill Hell, a knee high bottle refill or Argoshield is only about $65 smackers!
