  1. haha a bloody big one at that, its more like I have "E30V8" in my garage with no engine so it would be very easy to take all the measurents from a known proven 1uZ setup !
  2. Slightly OT as this thread has gotten a bit longer..... Can they not be anodized to give them color and a decent hard wearing finish ?
  3. Start with some KONI damper adjustable shocks, they might seem expensive just for the shocks but at least you know you are getting something really high quality with damping adjustment you can rely on. Street car or track car, if the damping is a bit willy nilly it wont ever feel right. and if you need coil over style adjustment buy the rest of the GC kit later on as you can afford it I had Koni's & eibachs in my old E30 and it drove amazingly well $1300 for some complete coil overs might seem like a good deal but the koni's really are an investment as they can be used as part of the GC kit at a later date. can you tell I'm a fan of Koni ? My mate has some D2's in his subaru and I have to admit they actually arn't too bad at all but his were quite new and I still don't trust their longevity
  4. HB Anthony, Can't wait to see my old car with M50 awesomeness !!!
  5. 4 stud ?? you E30 boys have heaps of wheels to choose from!!!!!!, its hard to find anything in a proper low or zero offset even in 5 stud. my 300zx really wants 16x9 with a 0 offset or even slightly negative to get it sitting flush with some nice wide tires on it
  6. V8 is being pulled down for freshening up right as we speak ! This is good news,to the road of re assembly mayham
  7. If its 1UZ let me know I have lots of info for you
  8. Pry it from my cold dead fingers
  9. I think lotto ticket sales are going up by the percentage of bimmersporters in NZ
  10. No pressure Jimmy ..................http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=28024 On a serious note No other car is even close to being as sorted out as this one is. I have personally done a lot of suspension work on this and have assisted Riley in nearly everything once the basic conversion was completed. The car is living at my place in North Canterbury CHCH so if you want to view it during re assembly or would like to request specific photo's of things you can't normally see hit me up with a PM Having recently dismantled most of the car as shown in my topic I am probably the most up to date on any technical aspect of this vehicle again feel free to hit me up via pm or give me a call on 021 022 856 77 you won't drive a better car for under 50K boys, and if you do have 50k worth of car I can guarantee it won't make you smile as much as this one does and with the recent radiator upgrade and some freshening up of the head gaskets and valves, rebuilt gearbox, rebuilt diff, mint exterior and the hottest wheels all you have to do is drive it
  11. I drove my old mans 2006 v8 Fairmont Falcon quite a bit And the same goes for his 2009 2.0 TDI Mondeo. Don't miss the Falcon v8 at all, TDI monedeo has shitloads of torque smooth quiet and the auto is the best one i have tried yet. It makes the 5.4L capacity of the falcon rather pointless when the Mondeo can do so much with so little. Same goes for a lot of other small diesel i have rode passenger in, very quick reliable and quiet diesels these days are nothing like a clacky old international truck , the people i have spoken to who dislike then have never really done their homework or had a decent drive on a modern turbo diesel
  12. I think some of the performance shocks tend to be more available in 51mm, this is why I went to 51mm struts but at the end of the day the shock absorbers actually make the difference. a 45mm shock might allow that tiny bit more clearance to a wider wheel tire combo. Get both your shocks checked and use whichever one performs the best and go with that size strut tube.

  14. Yeah thinking about it Brent it would have been a good way to do it, However the guy that did the conversion in the first place told me how to do it, and I did exactly as he said only he had a hoist and a helper or 3. I am thinking that when the motor goes back in it will be easier to slide in the motor and box, bolt the headers onto the block as its lowered down and slide the steering through the headers after the fact. Perhaps as you say Brent have the cross member lowered down to allow more maneuvering room while lowering it all back into place. Removing the steering rack before the motor goes back in will help a lot.

    E30 24V

Good work John, this will be a really really nice car for you when it runs. Would love to do one myself.
  16. Well sam I should have called you today because my helper ( professional Mechanic ) failed to turn up So i undertook the entire process myself proving how much WIN I actually have bad news is I can't even have an engine dragon photo because I'm on my own SO today was like Ok lets remove the gearbox *can't pull the gearbox off because the headers are in the way *can't take headers off because chassis rail is in the way * can't lift motor up to help the angles because headers are stuck around the steering and it just rotates to one side and smashes into brake booster and cylinder *when the gearbox is mostly loose it can't come back far enough because of the transmission tunnel *Can't slide the motor foward away from the gearbox due to the massive ness of the 1UZ-FE *when gearbox is 90% out it fouls on the oxygen sensors which can't be undone as they jambed against the bell housing of the gearbox making it more stuck in place *When gearbox is free from engine and 7 of the 8 bolts are undone the last bolt can not be undone as engine casting is in the way of the spanner and going underneath was again impossible due to the header looping all over the show. *so if anybody ever complains to me about their swap being a tight fit I am going to make you eat your glovebox But yeah pics for all to enjoy 7 hours straight no breakfast no lunch to get this done
  17. right I'm buying a lotto ticket and crossing my fingers
  18. thanks for the offer Sam, should be pretty right
  19. yes indeed E30V8 is looking a bit sad for sure, but Crocodile loves the Schizzle Front Kit- He wont let that go in a hurry !!
  20. Sorry Riley had to try out my new tool set !! So Really ............... that tool set was my awesome 21st present, some stuff I already had and most of it brand spanking. Saturday we should have Rileys v8 on the bench ready to take a peek at the Head gasket issues
  21. Snigger @ Rileys post +1 on the BZP theme, it looks fun in a bad kind of way
  22. I agree with he comments about Current Hilux models and previous models. We have an older generation extra cab as a farm hack ,turbo diesel 2001ish and it has well outlasted many of the brand new shaggers we have at work not a problem at 300,000 where the shaggers seem to have bits falling off them when used hard I work for a lines company and we have a ton of shaggers that just don't seem to cut it however the older trucks seem to be the favorite of our line mechanics over any new truck
