  1. Pretty Boring Update I had the case of my Borg Warner T5 Gearbox ( basically a Ford mustang V8 gearbox ), all looks mint and clean inside, but its going out for New Bearings regardless. 320,000kms eh. Flywheel is being Lightened by a tiny bit and Balanced with the new clutch assembly. Now I have 2 weeks to sit around and wait for all this cool stuff to arrive.
  2. They are fairly heavy cars to get moving Not as bad as a Supra but still quite heavy. a decent Launch on slicks could possibly hit that sort of time, on the other hand it could snap the input shaft of twist a stub axle into 2 pieces like this one.....
  3. When or if you come to Christchurch Ollie you are welcome to come for a ride And for a mini Update my shiny New RPM heavy Duty Clutch Kit arrived, if it can hold the torque I will be very happy. As after seeing what happened to Jason's Gearbox I would rather a slippy clutch than a pile of broken metal.
  4. I'm not going for huge power, Reliable 350hp at the wheels is my goal once i get a decent fuel system sorted out. I am hoping for a decent 13.5 second quarter Mile once its all tuned and run in
  5. It's actually a fully rebuilt Garrett with an Air Research Front cover. But yes it id an older turbo. As far as i can tell the quality of it seems as good as any other turbo i have seen.
  6. Hey guys My favorite Update Yet Got the turbo. Now I need to build the motor because the cylinder heads have finally made it into Flemings Cylinder Head Services in Chch I could not be happier right now because the cylinder head man said I did a good job on the porting .
  7. That Turned out Awesome I would have to have that done for my own.

    HB Riley

    Happy Birthday Riley !
  9. Apart from being nearly impossible to do in sheet metal. The M3 type widened guards look pretty Hot on James E30 S50 Race car. Mayne an approach like that but a little more subtle ?
  10. Stunning Job Kerry Looks like you did your prep and the rewards are already showing up ! 10/10 for effort and quality
  11. Easily Fixable You should send them all 4 rims to be checked over, don't another crack appearing from a diffierent rim or from a hairline crack not visible under some crud.
  12. This then becomes a good time to Air guitar to your favorite song ... oh that's just me
  13. Weird Driving habits... If I'm parked up and want to adjust the radio I have to find the remote after it slid sideways off the seat from cornering too hard even though i could just adjust the volume control on the Head Unit. the remote must be found !!!!! because if i can find that I can normally find my wallet and cell phone too.
  14. Do both, nice to have things in spec with lots of power and expensive tires, and to do the both at the same time is less effort in the long run than getting an alignment and finding both sides have wonky toe. When i get back from Palmy North, we should take some measurements & find an old sub frame to do a trial run. cut out some brackets by hand from a piece of steel, tack weld & try it out, before going and getting a whole heap milled out and finding we could have improved it.
  15. that is some really good information, this is starting to look very reasonable to achieve, Sam if you want to order a set of bolts I can use them to determine the size & shape of the brackets (based off the photo i can reverse scale it as we already know the diameter of the bolt hole for reference) then we can have a set machined up. & get them on a sub frame & try it out and see if it has enough adjustment. I'm sure if we can do one as a test and confirm it, then we could do a a few extra brackets for various people that might need it ?
  16. If we can find the correct bolts & eccentric washers, its a matter of designing the plate that that the eccentric washer runs from so it forces the bolt up or down in the slot to correct for negative camber. with a bit of time 3d modeling & a E30 sub frame & suspension arm to copy from I should be able to knock something together.
  17. Hows it Sam ? the only way to remove camber from the semi trailing arm is with a slotted adjustment setup on the sub frame. Check out the IE kit, I reckon we could copy it and produce something locally ? Riley has the offset rear camber bushings in his car, he still has mad 4deg camber. they probally work allright for a very mild adjustment but im not sure they are the way to go.
  18. Henry This is a suspension picture just for you, New Ball Joints, Urethane bushings for the tension rods, Koni SA dampers like your BMW ones, and a a 35mm lowered king spring. Cambers plates are currently in development for this car by a dude in the USA who runs a CNC business. The springs are about 30 % stiffer than factory but I still expect to be a bit of a float boat. I wanted the car road legal before i went with a GC setup.
  19. Hey Sam the inter cooler piping on the truck is much better, I notched out the pipe and flattened it a wee bit and welded it on and now i don't get any "my engine is going to escape" vibrations. Back to the 300zx. Henry that polished chamber represents about 24 hours of my life....seriously............ so i decided I'm going to have the car ready for the December 22nd track day. less than 90 days to Machine heads & Assemble the top end of the motor. Fit new fuel pump & injectors. Socket my ECU for NISTUNE tuning software ( so NZEFI can dyno it ) change diff oil & put new seals on Re fit all Anti Roll Bars with Polyurethane bushings & links Build an Exhaust Refit the front body work & make up misc brackets for old rusty broken ones. Build some inter cooler piping for it Find a Bypass valve that doesn't sound like it belongs on a Skyline Wheel Alignment And get it run up & tuned on the dyno. Its an unlikely Target, but dam I want my car to run the 22nd. If i can't run it, its going to be there on the tailor for all the bimmersport people to come and have a nosy. Cheers for the good comments guys, yeah that is one awesome steering wheel, i have reason to believe its period 80's too
  20. and some people wonder what the fuss over the E30 M3 is all about
  21. Welcome Have a Browse of the projects section, there have a been a few pretty decent engine conversions recently. BMW v8 into E30, Lexus V8 into E30, M20B27 Turbo on an E30 & M50 turbo into E30 all in the last 12 months.
  22. I actually think they look pretty tough. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that i like them.
  23. Don't you Hate, Welding inter cooler piping and getting tiny hot bits of metal that get stuck inside the helmet and burn the top of your head.
  24. love child with a corvette ?
  25. Well Life has been all over the place Recently, not much work on the 300zx but little bits have been achieved. A while back I Promised some pictures of the Tidied up cylinder heads combustion chambers ect. Intake ports are all de burred and 80 grid sanding roll finish, Photo does not do the combustion chamber justice that thing is fighting off magpies left right and center. and randomly i took a pxt of my awesome old school deep dish steering wheel. long I did some more tidy up prep on the new bonnet. all in all about 10 hours sanding, about 3 hours applying etch primer and re sanding and applying more primer and sanding. Apply regular fill primer on top of the etch primer, then sand and check and sand and paint and sand. and after all that apply some primer sealer to make sure the porous primer does not get water in it undoing all my work. I think it came out great, needs to go to the proper car painters for the top coat though. I do not recommend it though, I hated it. If i can find some money I can get the cylinder heads Surface Ground, Valves re cut & Seated exhaust manifold face surface ground and the valve guides checked out for straightness & slop Inbetween this I even Manged to Get an intercooler on my Diesel 4WD Please Excuse Bad Photo's My camera is broken.
