Hi Brent I have a M20 260 going dirt cheap, its the box which has the casting for the sensors but they are just not drilled. Box needs an input shaft bearing as it suffers the getrag rattle but otherwise its been in a car and going ok changes into every gear ok, dosn't crunch or anything shifting just feels a wee bit vauge. ( could be more than shifter bushings ) Not looking for much, make an offer.

That was very well said. having been in Riley 340i round ruapuna that's my benchmark for an actual fast E30. To me it seems pointless to do and engine swap unless you can stump up with similar results. Like it has been mentioned its going to to cost 10k to get that kind of performance. If you are not going to do that and do it right you might as well do an M20 build like Drift it Suggested keep things simple and have a great car you can enjoy.

BMW E30 Coupe 1989 Ca18det 5spd (FULL CERT)
tibbs.james replied to drifty325i's topic in TradeMe discussions
Atta Could buy my car for $3k and then not be out of pocket to do the exterior mods buy a 325 engine I will even fit it for you ! -
Feel Free to Argue with me on the price, ONO applies here. It is a face lift box and does not have the bell housing sensor holes.

just you wait until you hear the technical words we use when putting stuff togeather. But really all this doing work on a shingle driveway in the mud and rain has hardened us up to any challenge. Give us a yell we will get ya sorted !

Send him a message, I'm not very helpful as they are his parts and his call on price.

I do agree about rear fog lights being on all the time, they are not nice to follow. I do use mine when its really foggy or that time i went around a corner and all my rear lights blew at once yes i did switch them on that time. I tend not to use the fronts as only one side of mine works. While I do agree with most of the pro fronts anti rear fog light comments, i don't see much of a need to bitch about fog lights all over again.

You Can get Vinyl ones from BMW for about $70 with the clips and plastic bit.
-
Plenty of time, it hasn't sold yet ! Asking Price Lowered to $3000 but the Noisy Diff has been Changed & the Gearbox is being replaced with a mint one From Ray.
-
Hi all If Ray can Sort a Box for me that means my Other E30 Getrag 260 is for sale Its always had good Fluid in it, however it suffers the Getrag rattle. It shifts into every gear fine and doesn't crunch unless its really cold in winter. (-2 deg frosty morning cold) Shifting is vague& a bit notchy, i believe this is more than the usual shifter bushings. Gearbox on its own, no shifter linkage with it or mounts or anything. I don't know that they are easy to disassemble so I'm not real keen about splitting it up. $220 ono can be test driven in car. Or Make an offer..... if you have a use for it ? Taking up space it needs to be gone Box is in Christchurch, can be sent around NZ to a Main Freight Depot at your own cost.

A warning for those who don't check their brake's
tibbs.james replied to tibbs.james's topic in Maintenance
errrr yeah its a bit special that one isn't it. At first I thought why did somebody bother putting an old rotor in a lathe to skim it down to the cooling fins then I was told the story by the mechanic, and then shown that it was a now a 2 piece rotor -
Forrest My Car hasn't sold yet only is 4 door, I'm sure you have seen my old for sale thread, have a search for it or something. Price is $2800 tidy car could use a better Gertrag 260.

I was talking to my buddy from his Jap/Euro Parts shop yesterday and he showed me this from a 540i the driver heard a noise and thought he better get it checked out If you Haven't checked your brakes in a long time it is best to top a wheel off and have a look

2 people I know were on the Jury It will interesting to hear their take on the whole thing now that they might be allowed to talk about it with the whole thing being over. Will have to wait for work next week

Thanks for the wheel info Sam. They are so cheap on TM i might just take a punt it sounds worth it for the tires anyway. Yeah the old Nissan 300zx is a fairly interesting, I need to get onto building my Equal Length headers for it, been so lazy with this cold weather at the moment. anybody else know what exact BBS wheels these are ?
-
Hi Guys I have noticed these BBS wheels on Trademe & i would like to get them for my 300zx. they are cheap & i like them and a good size at 16x7 for my Nissan (1985 Z31 ) if these could be re drilled then i could get away with longer studs and a 10mm spacer rather than a full on cert required 5x120 to 5x114 spacer giving me a crazy low offset. I would like to know if these wheels have enough meat on them to be re drilled Searching Google only came up with references to re drilling RS variant wheels. Can anybody ID the exact model these wheels are ? Does anybody have pictures of the rear of the hub for these type of wheels ? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-220532567.htm Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers James

Land Transport (Enforcement Powers) Amendment Bill
tibbs.james replied to bravo's topic in General Discussion
I agree with Ollie 100% BUt all in all if it stops one person from being Killed or takes even one dickhead off the road and people feel safer then I'm all for it. I do think there are a lot of Grey Spots in this legislation but i think that if everybody drives safely and responsibility then nobody should have any problems. Its probably going to make me think harder about driving my 300zx around , Im not a dropkick doing skids or accelerating hard but i would like to be re assured that this legislation is really aimed at proper boy racers and not just every person who has a nice car that goes on a sunday drive to enjot themselves in their nice car the legal way. -
It looks like a Mondeo Wagon, We have one a new one, they really do look the same.......

As frantic said tighten the S**T out a them , borrow a breaker bar and a socket Allen key thingy Its impossible to do with a normal Allen key unless its 2 feet long. I was amazed when we undid the ones on Rileys car they were all so loose, but the breaker bar fixed that. 80nm on the torque wrench rings a bell.

You have a PM Sydwayz

Good project to start from Tastic Looks like once you get the manual conversion & sump done its only interior/bodywork tidy up to get it actually running again. I wish i had car with that Kit.
