To all owners of EOS 1000D cameras, make sure you update the firmware to 1.0.6 Canon Link If you do not, and the LCD fault occurs, it costs approx $150 for Canon to reflash the EEPROM !! You have been warned If anybody is too nervous to do the update themselves ( It is easy, really ) I am happy to do it for BS members for freight costs only.

Grant - it is the Touring, so it will be RF not Ired ?? Hope so, cause Jeff Grays sold me a 433.92 MHZ key !! Will the EX usa ones off 3 series convertible be OK ? Ta

Not wanting to hijack the thread, but can you help me with info about this - my 2003 530i Touring has a fault with the remote locking - Jeff Grays guy said it may be the mirror receiver - so do I need to get a Japan specific mirror ? I am guessing new part would be $$$$$ ex BMW, but there are plenty on Ebay for US $50 - $100 -- do you know if the USA mirrors would work in Japanese car? If any of the Dismantlers ( Brent / Ray etc ) are willing to let me try a mirror on a return basis ( I'll pay freight of course ) that would be great !! Save me paying $$$ for Jeff Grays to try the same thing !!

why you shouldn't leave your keys to your bmw with your son

:( :( :( :( Not too much value off the panels on that one Brent Hard to tell from the pics, but it looks like the bags did not fire?? - was it scraped along a pole / tree rather than a big hit? So sad to see, but I guess on the upside more spares for fellow E39 owners  -
I know there is ONE M5 E39 Touring in a BMW showroom in Germany : Genuine E39 M5 Touring I came across this one in the States : Buy Me ! Looks like no expense spared !! Nice !!

Glenn You may want to look at Garmin if you need/want to update often, as there is an open source version of the maps: Open GPS

Yea, I looked at those too, but decided the go DICE as there is a NZ dealer, and I spend my workdays hearing sob stories from people who think they have saved a buck buying a camera overseas .... until it breaks down and they can't get service under warranty in nZ

I've just put the DICE unit into my 2002/03 530i and it works well 95% of the time. I enquired with the Denison importers, and even before i bought it, they warned me about faults etc !! The DICE unit shows track names on the Nave screen or the Dash, programable. Yes, you loose the CD changer, as this unit emulates and takes place of the CD changer wiring, but why would you want a CD when you have 1000's of songs on the iPod! My prevoius 540i I ran the Harmon Kardon drive + play, but it needed extra screen and controller, i prefer the total integration of the DICE. I am happy to answer and questions on it - to be honest that is theirt downfall - the info available is poor

I ran my daughter to school this morning as it was raining, and saw a Toyota Previa get sideways at an intersection!! Looked at the driver, looked in his 50's , so I don't think he meant to !! Maybe he has started a new class of drifting - people movers

Or the sensor was not plugged back in if it was not worn through and showing the message before the work.

BMW is rumored to have plans to revive the 8-Series name for a potential “four-door coupe,†much like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. New 8-series would compete closely with the new Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Aston Martin Rapide and Porsche Panamera. Beginning of the year BMW placed Gerhard Richter in charge of development of its new Gran Turismo model, which is based on the popular CS concept car. New model will be called either simply GT, short for Gran Turismo or 8-series. Most likely the car will get the previous 8-series models name so that BMW can position it as the highest, most luxurious and expensive model. This new GT/8-series model will be the first non M-series car to be built by the performance division. BMW M President, Herr Willisch said that the CS “It’s a car that doesn’t have any resemblance to the other cars built by BMW AG, so it was decided to give the project to us.†New 8-series will have a larger wheelbase and sportier chassis than the 7-series, though it will be based on the underpinnings of the new 2009 7-series. Expected engines will be a V8 twin turbo engine or a 6.0-liter naturally aspirated V12. New 8-series will be introduced most likely in 2010 as a 2011 year model. Still a long time to go with lots of spy shots and rumors. As BMW has not started the testing of the new 8-series we don’t have any spy shots yet, what we have are two artist renderings of the new 8-series. Enjoy!

Pairing New Master Key ? SOLVED !
camera doctor replied to camera doctor's topic in Electrical system
Took car into Jeff Greys CHCH Saturday, mechanic could not pair key either He plugged car in and said there were no faults in memory Tried another key, no luck there either Says I need to book car in for further diagnoisis and repair, may be a fault with the receiver on the rearview mirror or something. Bugger !!! I smell $$$$$ Oh well -
I thought these were all left hookers ???? Could be a conversion I guess. My Bro in Law had one of these, Black with the Martini logos etc on it like they did when they won rallies etc. They look a lot cooler in the metal - the pics on this auction do not do justice !!

Pairing New Master Key ? SOLVED !
camera doctor replied to camera doctor's topic in Electrical system
Just rang Jeff Grays, they reckon their system says it is the correct MHz for my car. They also said if previous owner had paired more then 9 keys, there are no slots left in the EWS, so I need to bring it in to them to check and clear. Unfortunatly they are not open on Saturdays, so looks like a day trip to CHCH at some stage soon. I will post results, as may help others. Big thanks to Glenn for his time on the phone this morning :) -
Pairing New Master Key ? SOLVED !

Real OEM lists 315 Mhz and 433 MHZ REALOEM I have been sent 433 Mhz - how can I confirm this is correct for my car? -
Courier dropped off to me yesterday ex Jeff Grays a new Master key ( $$$$$$$$$ !! ) for my 2002 530i touring. I have spent most of last evening trying to pair the remote with the car, but to no avail. They have sent me a 3 Button Diamond shaped 433.92 Mhz Key - is there any way to tell if this is the correct unit? My VIN ends in GL81438 I have done the Unlock door, key in iginition, Hold Unlock and Press lock 3x LOTS of times!! Have even tried any other sequence I can find on the internet, but to no avail. As the key is brand new, do I need to use it for a while to recharge the battery? I am off to CHCH ( 160km ) tommorrow, so will try the sequence after that drive Unless somebody can suggest anything else ? BTW - Does anybody know if Jeff Greys CHCH are open on Saturdays? Cheers Greg
