I have a 4 and my wife has a 4s ....... the 4s has much better reception when held together in the same area. I have a 5 on order, cannot comment on it yet, except that my brother has one on Telecom and says the reception is excellent. If you are in patchy reception areas and are not using data, a trick is to turn off the 3G, and the phone will use the 2G transmitter, and use less battery and may drop out less - certainly works in patchy areas around here. Can you borrow a phone off somebody before you commit ?

Has it leaked since a filter change ?? My 530i leaked pools of oil after a filter change - the rubber seal on the new filter element was faulty, put the old seal in place, all good.

I went thru this with my early E39. Basically you cannot fit aftermarket HID unless you change the reflectors, so basically the complete headlight units. Land Transport rules say you need washers too, although you may already have those I improved my lights by dismantling them, cleaning the lens and polishing the polycarbante cover. You may be able to buy new covers rather than polish. I tried those 120% bulbs etc, little difference really. I now have a facelfit E39 with factory projectors, and that really is the answer.

On the flip side of that, I got a letter from LTSA saying I was the owner of a Ford Courier Ute based in Auckland ! I am in Timaru, and have never owned a Ute ! I had to go to the courthouse and get a declaration signed to get LTSA off my back ! So much for innocent until proven guilty !

Kiwis paying more for used cars in 2012
camera doctor replied to HELLBM's topic in General Discussion
Yea, noticed supermarket food is real cheap, as are name brand shoes, clothes etc. The balance is in the rent prices and the fact the service workers are on US$ 7 an hour only ( which is why they rely on Tips ! ) No holiday pay, sick days etc either, unless you are management or lucky ! -
No SMS feature that I have found. Very unusual to have that feature, I know some of the new VW's do, but that would be exception.

Kiwis paying more for used cars in 2012

We are getting ripped on new cars too. Just got back from USA, the new Ford Focus ST is US$ 27 K, which is about NZ $ 34k But, they are $ 52 k at the dealers ! Yes I know there is GST and freight etc, but really, nearly 20 k more expensive! -
See my thread Bimmersport I discussed with BimmerNav and they sent me a kit as if there was no Jap phone there, and it connected right back to the big connector on the passengers side ( not suire if Sedan is the same ) That way it was plug and play, no pin swapping needed.

My 530i used lots of gas when the thermostat was buggered, I guess it was overfueling, plus it seemed to use oil - washing the bore ? New thermostat fixed both issues.

LTSA Ruling Clearly states just changing the bulb to HID is illegal Insurance assessor may spot these if you are ever in a crash and refuse claim, remember that means they will not pay for the fence / powerpole / Ferrari that you may hit !!!

New suspension for the 540i
camera doctor replied to BreakMyWindow's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
From the experience I had when I had a 540i sedan, changing the factory bushes etc makes the best improvement to handling. These cars are getting on and the rubber perishes etc. You can buy kits on EBay with all the parts together. Front and Rear or separately. -
I cannot help with those ones except to say the shape where they attach to the rails look right, and as long as theyr are adjustable for width, should be fine. I just bought a set of Prorack bars for my E39 Touring, they are the Whisbar ones that have low wind noise, I fit two kayaks on them no issues. Got them from Supercheap on special, $100's less than Repco quoted me
