I remember this guy, they invited him back as part of the unluckiest people series and he then knocked out the 200k on the first go and iirc the 100k on the second, his first offer was 11c, very definitely the most unluckiest chappie.

Ever since having a car without a fuel light I never let the fuel needle get low enough to trigger the light, well, only once when got a major surprise to see the orange come on going up a hill - after 5 years I didn't realise the e30 had a fuel warning light at all, 5 years later it's never come on since. My partner though, loves to run the E36 on orangeÂ

So did it make any difference to your jatco jerk? What's a transmission service cost anyways? (bmw/other)

Saying Hamilton is interesting, I would say it kind of depends on where in the tron you are, if on southern/eastern side i'd go SH1 (which was what I did when living there whilst at uni) but from the west side i'd say go SH4. The last few times i've gone north from Welly i've gone SH4, although that was to Auckland and I bypassed Hamilton going through Ngaruwahia which turned out to be consdierably better than SH1, made it easily from Petone to that BP after the Bombay's on one 65L tank. I like the windy bits after W(h)anganui too, one run in my car with Tim in his pseudo 335 saw me behind him as he went hilariously sideways into a roadworks section after (i think he panicked) he saw a cop coming the other way after a blind corner...good times, i'm sure the cop waved. When I think about it it also depends on your company, if none go SH4, if with people who don't like bends then SH1 - that and if you're car is unreliable stick to where there's good mobile coverage. West side of lake taupo isn't too good iirc.

No point in speculation, just jack the car up and have a look at the g/box mounts, guibo, driveshaft and centre housing for anything obvious.

K&N means DIY cleaning so no more buying filters, cost to benefit after a few services

I don't like the look of the lambo, I do like the look of muscle cars, but trying to turn either into the other...priceless

Need to say what type of E30 you have in order to try someone else's ecu.  -
Definitely DEFINITELY get the rachet key attachment as this seriously speeds up the half axles and makes that part so much easier. Only difficult part IMO is lining the diff up when bolting back in, need trolley jack for this as nathan said, you can do this alone just have patience.

Your post is a little unclear in places, could you please re-edit it? Not sure on what you mean by the fan, is the main cooling fan electrical or mechanical?

I drove a 90's mazda 323 around manfeild once, had pink fuzzy dice, will never live that one down. Had a 1983 nissan pulsar that wasn't as bad as that. Owned an 1982 Isuzu Piaza, must've had one fat c**t previous owner as everything on the right hand side broke. Driver window electrics fried, right front ball joint seized, right front sway bar link broke off and made cornering very weird, right front popup headlamp would occasional raise very late, leaked in the right rear quarter window, and numerous other flaws. 1972 Austin 1800 (landcrab), drove one around uni for a couple of months, bright yellow, was literally campus taxi for a while. Wasn't a bad car for it's time, but was sh*t in 1998.

Screw the haters, I love these and would stick one next to my Z8!

If i'm not mistaken it's the same size as a wheel bolt if you've got a spare and a pipe wrench

Who the hell keeps manuals??? I never got one with the car being a private sale, where would they hide the control box?

Anyone know how to disable the automatic alarm setting on these? i.e. you disarm the alarm and open the boot, start putting in shopping or whatever, a few seconds later *chirp* the car is alarmed, close boot, open drivers door and the alarm goes off. RAGE i.e.2. pull up to PnS gas station, stop engine, get out and swipe CC and enter details, car goes *chirp*, open up the fuel flap & cap and start pumping gas then the alarm goes off. RAGE If you're in the car and try to start it after it's done that *chirp* it'll do several *chirps* and you gotta disarm again to start. RAGE Anyone know how to fix this to a more user friendly mode???

Tried that using my little rangi tool (small 350Ω resistor between two little connector plugs) which is why i'm stumped, also tried grounding to chassis as well. Wonder if it's cause the < 1 yo bmw battery being naff. Has power to run lights and sh*t but can't draw amps to start the car, even after a full charge On that note, JG said if I don't have the original receipt that they won't replace it, f**kers (don't keep all my receipts), anyone know where to get a good replacement for a 328i, century batteries on old hutt road? (also what type of battery lead/calcium, amps/cca rating etc)

Someone has to explain what this DRY means in reference to electrical components, in particular, the ECU. Are you referring to the soldering of the PCB components? The ECU should be dry as electrics don't like being wet. I read a lot that it's the ECU's fault for issues but have never personally seen it, usually it's a relay/wiring/sensor that's at fault, and people have spent lots on a new ECU only to find that wasn't the problem - it's an easy test though, just swap in someone elses matching ECU and try it. E: Have a read of the article in this thread as it pertains to tracking down starting issues which seems relevant. Explains how to check where the issue really is.Â

Personally it's not exactly original, little bit like recycling the iphone, but i'm probably biased as I can't find a need for such a device.

Definitely looks like red fluid has been leaking around in there... Why not give that whole area a nice degrease and could clean up then see if it's still leaking or been like that for quite some time?
