^^if you really want to look at 318 / 320i E91s maybe. It would have to be a very rough / high miles E91 330/335i M-Sport for that kind of money.

I agree with Westy, if you want to see a proper rant find one of 3pedals posts about automatic gearboxes. And, sorry, but SMG = Sequential Manual Gearbox, emphasis being on the MANUAL part of the words

I had a claim with AA for a car on agree value, and they paid out, no questions asked, full agreed value. The amount you agree has an affect on the size of your premium, so they shouldn't be querying it at this stage. The only thing you might have to argue over is any excess on the policy, which AFAIK your insurer, the AA, should claim from the other person's insurance if they are at fault as it sounds. Stick to your guns, don't let them fob you off.

Yeah, you would think wouldn't you... it's not until you actually try to sack someone in the UK that you realise quite how difficult the task is, even where a physical assault is involved, far easier to get the cheque book out and say "how much is it going to cost to make you go away?". Unfortunately NZ is getting along the same lines now.. "what would a fair and reasonable employer do?"

Bit of a roller coaster ride, some great cricket, some awful cricket, will they make it... Tried their hardest to make a complete F*#k up of the whole thing, but thanks to SAs inability to run anybody out without help from Ross Taylor and Elliot keeping a cool head they made it though. FWIW I mentioned some drawbacks to using a 6-speed gearbox. Then you mentioned the diff. Back to the original questions about the 220 box..

Correct, depends on a lot of things, amount of coin being one of the biggest. Off the shelf six speed would be a lot less $$$s than getting a custom set of ratios made up to suit your car / engine / diff combination. As I said in my first post, SOME 6-speed boxes, not all, again there are different ratios around. So going 6-speed is not always the answer.

I am at a loss as to how changing a diff ratio is going to help reduce the number of shifts per lap. The only thing I can think of is if you lower the diff ratio enough then you don't get into 6th, and reduces your acceleration due to the taller overall gearing, which kind of makes it pointless. Kind of like having a first gear you only use to put it on the trailer...

Took the vert for a little trip out to the beach, make the most of a sunny Sunday afternoon as summer draws to a close and I get ready to store her up for winter.
