E28 For sale - Try again to let her go
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to kiwinelson9879's topic in For Sale
@[email protected] it’s not a great idea to use your e-mail as your user name, likely to attract a fair bit of spam e-mail. Pretty sure it’s sold, but PM the original seller would be your best bet. Also, you don’t need to shout, thanks. -
Isn’t that what all E30 vert owners do when they’ve parked up..? I know I do.. 😎
-
Will PM.

CHCH BMW DP..? If so, must have been a good few years ago.
-
Yup, indeed.

The colour does look very different in real life (to my eyes anyways), I know the vehicle quite well, it belongs to a work colleague. Been very well looked after and maintained.
-
Not really, it's what some bored teenager has come up with as a "render" after a supposed leaked photo of the front end.
-
The car line-up at the bottom is a bit out of date now, with the sudden explosion of the whole EV market, but the line up and history is impressive. As I understand it the initial fleet of 1602e were specially introduced for the Munich Olympics to move the athletes and officials around. Same for the first electric MINI models that I think was around the London Olympics in 2012.

If the dizzy cap, rotor and plugs all work for an M20B25 then I'll take everything you have listed off your hands.

The Connected Drive data that is shared with the car is AFAIK not stored anywhere, it is live and can be accessed, but I don’t think stored. This has been used to ping a stolen car and get it recovered a number of times. In terms of the police pulling info from your car, I think that is covered under the investigation of an accident. In the same way a car can be taken away and checked physically? Again not my area of expertise so not 100% A Connected Drive account linked to the car is set up with the first owner, this is then transferred to subsequent owners, if desired. The rules around the use of any info are very tight, and super cautious around the privacy of personal data.

Not directly responsible so can’t say for certain.

Lots of data has been logged in the various computer systems of cars for many, many years. There have been a number of occasions I can recall where that info has been passed to the NZ police.

Govt Breathes New Life Into "Clean Car" Legislation
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to E30 325i Rag-Top's topic in News
Most electric cars, either BEV or PHEV have an on-board charging log (like the fuel economy history for a petrol / diesel) so you can easily check for abnormal charging patterns, ie Juicing to get the SoH up. It is, as always, the unsuspecting customer that could be sucked in. Which now EVs are going more into mainstream buyers, is a worry. -
Love the colour but not it’s name, shape looks great in the photos, can’t wait to see it in the metal. The back end looks a little “busy” from some angles so again will be interested to see what it’s like for real.

From the same industry information, another article again on EVs, this time the auction prices in Japan, under the heading "Clean Car Mayhem on Prices" by Graeme MacDonald: -

Some interesting exerpts from a column by David Vinsen, the CEO of the VIA (Vehicle Importers Association) for NZ in the industry magazine Autotalk. Especially the comments around the current legislation from governments not really producing results: Full article can be found here: https://autotalk.co.nz/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/autotalk_july2021-1.pdf -
FS - Genuine M3 CSL alcantara handbrake - LHD!!!
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to M3_Power's topic in For Sale
I personally would love to give some leeway to those, like Tom, that have contributed to the forum in a big way over many years. However, when you then ask some new-ish member who has contributed next to nothing to follow the rules, you get entitled cries “of what about this one” “you’re bullying me”, etc. Admin - for better un-paid work stories. -
Vehicle transport Christchurch to Hamilton

Car Distribution Group, do most of the new stuff ex-Akl, pricing is competitive as they are always looking for backloads to fill the transporter on its way back to Aucks. -

Price of 2nd hand everything is heading upwards to various degrees currently, for a variety of reasons. Noticeable jump in new EVs as well, supply outstripping demand already, now even more so with the rebate scheme. The MoT has also just announced a further extension to the RUC excemption for EVs (but HFCV) for another couple of years - that will annoy the ute driving farmers even more. -

I was referring to the ex-U.K. (and ex-Japan) pricing of used BEVs and PHEVs. NZ Govt has expressly warned about increasing of sale prices now there is the Feebate, how enforceable that is especially on used cars we shall see. -

There would certainly be another dimension added to the planning of modifying a car that's for sure, again it depends on how the test is applied. If you put an M54 into an E30 I would expect that it would give better emissions than the original M10 / M20 / M40 unit, so could be OK if measured against the original factory specs. It's exactly this that should be cut down on IMHO (for road cars, not race cars so I'm clear - race cars don't do enough miles to make any impact) the number of "cat removed exhausts", "EGR delete", "ECU mapped" cars that are "it's all good for a WoF bro they never notice" is bloody ridiculous. There is a reason the manufacturer spend many thousands of dollars to get the factory tune into your vehicles, and yes it is easy to get "more power" but at what costs? All the more reason for it's introduction then, just because many of the cars, and especially light commercial van's and trucks, in NZ are poorly serviced and need maintence (as evidenced by the clouds of black smoke coming out the back) is not an excuse. Basic stuff like changing the oil, oil filter and air filter on a regular basis make a big difference, on diesels overhauling / replacing the injectors also makes a huge difference, but all too often the penny pinching approach of run it into the ground is allowed to prevail because it's not picked up on. Yes, I apprecaite that all the cars in NZ probably make the tenths of nothing difference to the global picture, but there is no point trying to push people down the electric route to reduce emissions without also looking to get the worse offenders off the roads at the same time. It will affect some of the lower income road users, but also there are a lot that can afford to change that simply can't be bothered. -
M-Sport Side Skirt Sill For 2014 BMW 116 F20
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to The F20 Guy's topic in Appearance
Anything CAN be repaired, it's just a question of the cost versus replacing with a new one. Looking a the photo and seeing the level of damage on that one I would say it's pretty close to being cheaper to buying a replacement part. Probably a few F20 M-Sport skirts at the specialist wreckers, Hell BM, etc. by now, might even be one in the right colour if you are lucky. -
Not exactly answering your question, but there were only 26 NZ new examples of the F13 M6. I will try and find how many were imported from overseas and how many are left. Interestingly of those 26 all but 1 (a Wellington car) all were originally sold in Auckland, again I will try and find out if any have migrated down to CHCH, well there is obviously one, but I mean I will try and see if there are any others. The link above is quite useful, but it only shows those vehicles where their registered persons have not asked for their information to be hidden, so there are possibly more than the numbers quoted.
