They are simply “agents” that take the adverts from Japanese and U.K. dealers, run them through a currency converter and add on their cut. Risk free for them as they don’t even own the stock and only buy it on your behalf when you commit. With the exchange rate the way it is at the moment the BMW pricing is way above what you could buy a better car for in NZ. Not sure about the JDM stuff, even with the exchange rate I would imagine the pricing is still reasonable.

No idea what it’s worth, but that is one seriously awesome example of a very cool car! GLWS.

Ahh, now you see, that is where you are mistaken, the 5 door Hatchback is the Gran Tourismo, the Gran Coupe is a 4-door with a boot.
-
If it's been superseeded with another part number then the only chance for the BMW part would be a dealer or parts supplier that is sitting on some New Old Stock unfortunately. You might be able to pick up a used one, but then it's probably not going to be in much better condition than the current one.

"Looks stanced as bro' fits hellaflush" Google Translate "A few people will think it looks cool, whilst it rides a sack of spuds"

^same. Dealer is not one I’m familiar with, and I’d want to know the story behind those rims being on it. Plus knock him down a few hundy or get him to put some proper F20 wheels on it.
-
Well there ya go. Good point about the weight of the wheels, chucking massive after market wheels that weigh a ton onto the factory suspension is one common way to get some interesting ride issues!
-
Not even sure if 20" rims were invented when the E53 was developed? They were definately a "thing" when the E70 came out. So the suspension set-up on the E70 would definately have been designed with that size of wheel in mind, so shouldn't be any major issues. Poor ride and handling is usually a by product of incorrectly sized rims and tyres being fitted to the vehicle in my experience. If you have wheels that were a factory option fitted with the correct tyres then that removes that possibility, which is a good start. The E70s do seem to have a liking for going through tyres, especially rears, fairly quickly. I think this is in part down to the rear geometry causing the inner shoulders to wear, and the fact that it is easy to drive them like a sporty car as they go so well - with the result that things do wear out a bit quicker.

Ahh, yes, the good old "Junior Team" that had to tell their young and "enthusiastic" drivers to calm down as they were getting so much damage on the cars in each race. Who would have thought...

And every single 730Ld has been “Helen Clarke’s car” or “John Key’s Car” or even “the Royal Tour Car” . And don’t forget the “armour plated” and “bullet proof glass” options.

Is This Where The E30 Market Is Now..?

Thought it had gone pretty quickly as I couldnt find it again. Looked pretty good from the photos. -
Yup the usual made up stories to try and justify putting a much higher than market price on the car. ”owned by BMW CEO” so a guy who gets given one of these to drive for free also bought one so he could watch the depreciation falling out of it.. yeah right.

Out of interest how many E30 Baur were built? How hard / expensive is it to get the Baur specific bits for the roof etc? -

Yeah the 325i at $28k has been on there a few times, seems very optimistic. Looks nice, but not 28k nice. As for the 99kms i’d Want a fully documented service history to back that up, as we all know how good the odometers are in E30s and how easy they are to swap. I saw a M325i Tech II in white from Dunedin, 300kms but awesome condition pop up for $32,500 which is not much above asking for the 4-door. I know which one I think is worth the asking price.. -
Ok champ.

Steel or Ali ones? Budget..?

Hi Noah, and welcome to Bimmersport. That’s a very cool project you’ve got there, shame about the driver that hit you. I’ve moved your post into the Want To Buy section as it’s more likely to be spotted in here.

Govt Breathes New Life Into "Clean Car" Legislation

Plenty of other companies out there giving EV batteries a second use. Also a number of companies re-manufacturing / fixing / re-cycling EV batteries. Not sure there are any here in NZ but definitely in Aussie. Iirc BMW also has a “whole of life” plan for all of its EV batteries so they are either re-used or disposed of properly and not just dumped. -
Things that make you go ‘hmmmm’...

Didn’t notice the wheel first time, but yeah that’s different not seen that before. Looking at the photos again did make me see how damn filthy that car is inside. Another “beware” flag for me. -

WTB - E30 convertible soft top replacement
E30 325i Rag-Top replied to Tidy30's topic in Want to buy
If the rest of the roof is in good condition then I would suggest just replacing the window and re-coating the roof with the weather proofing stuff. Should be good for a few more years. -

Not sure that one’s “back” for sale, I think it hasn’t been on the market for some time. I can’t remember seeing a red one in such good Nick with a dog leg for a number of years. Its not the red impounded one, and it’s not the one you mentioned on the 15” weaves. I’ve an inking I know of the owner of this one. Very nice example and worth the asking if it’s still in the same condition, if it’s the one I’m thinking of. -
Heaps of people, P&S Autocentre in East Tamaki are very good on E30 / E36 / E46 models.

But, but, but every car from the U.K. is a rust bucket, because they put salt on the road. Every car from Japan has sat in traffic for millions of hours and has been clocked. And every car from Singapore has electrical problems because of the humidity..., etc. Because the internet’s says so. Short term, the country of origin and hence known history, would probably be more important. Longer term things like the kms, no of owners and general condition would become more important. An import of any brand from any country is always valued lower than a similar car (all other factors being equal) than an NZ new, by any vehicle dealer and by the majority of the market from my experience.
