  1. Yeah id be worried the temp would warp it 😕
  2. Wouldnt ship it to NZ, strangely.
  3. Shiney cleaned and benched injectors from injectortech in, during level 4 (legend), and have a new rockercover coming from ECS... (ouch). Wondering if its worth trying to paint this one to give it some more protection than stock, at $700USD I dont really want to be buying multiple of these. Best as I can tell they are sprayed with aluminized coating to stop corrosion.. Im wondering if VHT or similar (nothing gaudy!) over the stock coating will improve lifespan of it? Hopefully MILVs arrive this week and can bang them in.
  4. Easy peazy via Leon, 14k is reasonable. Insurance sorted.
  5. UK didnt get that many (only have ~1000 still registered). 14000 seems like the right number, its just in NZ our fleet gets skewed by Japans ( I assume Japan would have been a pretty big market for expensive euro hatch backs in mid 2000s)
  6. Was curious about how the 14077 BMW 130s compared to other BMWs, there were more than 57627 E9x M3s made....
  7. Does seem to be that way... maybe PreLCI drivers just have better taste, or its maybe a market share thing? People buying expensive small cars wanted autos? 2006 was the largest production of 130s (half of which would be PreLCI), but LCI are more common as were made for more years. BMW 130i Production.xlsx
  8. My 130s insurance is up again, agreed value, and the insured value has dropped to well below sane replacement. I previously had it valued at 16500 (before blowing a few k on big banana brakes). Can anyone recommend a licensed dealer etc who would be able to value it from pics/description rather than in person (as covid...)
  9. Thats nice, and well priced.
  10. Have you tried Bimmergeeks protools? Im pretty sure it does all that, failing that downloading the installing the BMW software package from their site (with ISTA/INPA etc) is pretty painfree.
  11. Nah, old mate - TTT Auto - Race car / LVV Cert / Engineering shop in Te Rapa
  12. Its about 30 hours of fabrication time, so kind of do it once do it right deal Guy making them is a pro, so should end up with at least the same gains as brintechs (using pics as a reference...), just nicer work.
  13. If using it as ya daily, a long 3/8th extension and a hammer in the boot gets a few goes out of the starter
  14. Titaniums for poor people, inconel only. Leaning towards ceramic coating, Im just not sure how it ages.
  15. Header decisions to make.. Thoughts? Stainless - higher price, no corrosion issues, might sound tinyer. Mild steel - cheaper Mild steel HPC coated - roughly same price as Stainless all in. I havent had stuff coated before so not to sure on how it ages?
  16. Other end looks tickety boo as well. New oil filter housing gaskets and pressure switch done, new plugs in. Injectors off to be cleaned and benched. Now we play the wait on the courier game... milvs/gaskets/belts/pulleys/coils(with new plugs to convert my old spec car)... and every single coolant pipe. Gives me time to find a new rocker cover.
  17. Not really, unless ya CCV is dicky. Dont forget O rings for the intake runners.
  18. Pull off intake, replace starter, replace intake. Its a ball ache just due to the intake removal/install.
  19. Nah, well maybe in a few spots (or thats what blows the protective ali coating off and starts the corrosion), but others are around bolts etc.
  20. Think this one's terminal, the rot keeps going.. Black dust gone intergranular. Might just have to bite the bullet and spring for a new one 😕
  21. If had easy/cheap access to dyno Id do before and after with mine. I can 100% see how brintech got 17rwkw out of their headers..
  22. Anyone successfully repaired a magnesium rocker cover before? Its seems theyre are the age where 95% of them are corroded. Most of them seem to blow holes down the coil tubes, and a couple blow out the inner mounting bolts. Im thinking grind out the rot, then treat in something, then rebuild with JBweld/Ali plug or something, then respray in something protective... Its not exactly structural but will need to be relatively temperature stable.
  23. Rotors, its designed for you to have a looksee at them, get frustrated and snip stuff There is also flag for brake fluid.
  24. Sump gaskets not a bad job, just time consuming and messy with the subframe still attached. I got the engine brace on tardme for like $70, welcome to borrow it but might be a bit of a commute!
