  1. Apparently E36 M3 weigh in at 1475kg too.... iron block Vs all the airbags and sh*t of modern car I guess. Im curious to weigh my wheels (and tyres) now.
  2. Engine/gearbox/diff/shafts/brakes etc are all bigger on 130. Theyre advertised as 1350kg stock, but I suspect that is dry (and with helium in cabin) and stuff like manual seats. My car certainly wont be the lightest 130, but I think BMWs numbers are a bit goofy. 330 touring is 1700 odd at the tip scales.
  3. Weighed my car - Manual, full tank of gas, birds sway bars, BBK, SMF and 19s (with no meatsack) - 1475kg. She got big bones. Now for science!

    Quick Questions

Any suggestion on best place to get a vehicle weighed? Weigh bridge at the tip seems a little crude, want a reasonably accurate number for some math and logging.
  5. Stumbled on this, pretty rare car - https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/330i/listing/3209186894?bof=JPXZF0c8
  6. Been looking at 130i prices around the world, NZ has the cheapest 130s by a LONG way, we probably have the largest number per capita too. Average aussie auto 130i is 15kAUD + duties, manuals are closer to 20. UK is circa 7000 pound private for similar vehicle (rustier.. ) (~13,500NZD), German prices for similar car is around 11000 euro (18k NZD). Even the Japanese auction houses are ~$12,000NZD+ imported which means the NZ japanese import dealers are not making much on them. Our market is obviously skewed by cheap japanese imports... the question is when do the imports dry up? Japans domestic stock has to dry up as some point, or maybe the coming (or current) regulations will stop making them as feasible to import for peanuts and we will see a big correction in 130 pricing. Might be time to stock up
  7. Yeah seems to be the biggest issue with it, my 130 lives inside and only comes out when the sun shines now, so shouldn't really be too much of a problem. I'm surprised how controversial deleting the cowl is, peoples reviews are all over the place as well - Water drips on engine cover/water doesnt drip on engine cover/makes a huge difference to cabin noise/makes no difference to cabin noise.... One thing is for certain is it weighs a ton and gets in the way for maintenance. One way to find out Worst case Ill put it back in.
  8. Includes. https://burgertuning.com/products/bms-cowl-filters?_pos=1&_sid=de230fe37&_ss=r $230 or whatever for the filters, replacement moulded covers for the electronics and bracket to support the loom seemed pretty reasonable to me. Haters gonna Hate 😛
  9. If you took a survey of x number of cars, I would put money on the ones running lingpingpowsuperstones also being the ones with dripping with oil leaks and green coolant in the radiator and 91 in the tank. Whereas if the car has PS4Ss or similar on it, signficantly more likely that the previous owner gave a sh*t and had funds to properly maintain it. Its not particularly controversial and is particularly applicable to NZ BMWs, where they are cheap to buy and expensive to maintain.
  10. Apparently not, I thought the same (and that water will get in), completely reversible if its all crap though... the stock cowl panel definitely weighs a crap load and gets in the way.
  11. Just ordered this setup, fingers crossed it fits E87. Ditch the heavy ass cowl panel without having the engine loom dangling over rocker cover. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-1809115-turner-e9x-cowl-delete-kit/
  12. First thing to look at when buying a used car - does it have shitty chinese tyres... it pretty much invariably comes with shitty half pie maintenance performed by supercheaps finest techs. There will be exceptions to that, but the rule is 99.9% solid.
  13. $110 a corner tyres... "well maintained"...
  14. Thats how you give away a 130i....

    Quick rant thread.

My house is next to entrance to a walkway, Level 4 results in a literal traffic jam of cars trying to find a park to go for a walk with 300 other people... its insane. Its like watching ants following each other. Lets hope vaccination rates improve, otherwise our hospitals are going to explode.
  16. I got 2 just in case... not to sure on total capacity of system, less than 2 quarts
  17. CHF11S and coolant all the way from the land of freedom in 6 days via fedex (At level 4)
  18. I bought the whole superpro kit for my car which included these, but I went non adjustable M3 front arms so these werent needed. Im not sure on how much geometry can change with these Vs M3 units, it may actually be more than M3. be curious to see how the front end changes with PU bushes Vs M3 too. If we stay in lockdown I have a set of spare stock arms I might put them into and see as a little project.
  19. Bump, found these in the bits box still....
  20. Much more level 4 and Im going to have mirror finished primer.
  21. In the style of singer, but now with electric supercharger and turbo hybrid setup (presumably its now an EV and tax breaks 😛 ) . This thing is pretty much perfect....
  22. Yeah it ships fine, ive got 3 of those kits through FCP now with no issues. Latest order from FCP has PS fluid in it, and that appears to be fine to ship too (so far anyway)
  23. No worries, you'll need a little torque wrench for the ali bolts (10Nm + 90 degrees), a battery charger and ideally something to trigger the bleed cycle (ISTA/Protools etc, you can also do it manually but). Its not a bad job, just a bit messy and fiddly, dropping the front antiroll bar etc to help with access makes a big difference.
  24. Nice lockdown Wx so mandatory make it f**ken shiney exercise... There is noticeably less sh*t stuck to back of car, that Maxton rear lip does a thing!
  25. This is the right kit for your car - https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-water-pump-replacement-kit-n51-n52-n52n-oem-11517586925kit https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=UD52-EUR-10-2007-E87N-BMW-130i&diagId=11_3754 I have yet to be charged GST on arrival on stuff from FCP with FEDEX, with the change in GST legislation more stuff seems to be coming through than used to without being stung by tax man (its like they assume all the sellers are applying it now....). Most FEDEX orders seems to be going Honolulu-Aussie-NZ at the moment, so takes roughly 7 days to arrive Vs the 3ish pre-rona.
