  1. A bmw specialist in would've replaced the surrounds with their own. May have been before it reached the q yard, just a quick observation and just my point of view.
  2. Looks like its been riced and raped to me from photos and description. Id go out on a limb and say that if the cars on finance and he is selling dirt cheap its probably been poorly maintained. Save 3.5g more and buy one that's been maintained properly with service history, and no blingblingebay rice. Edit: Q motor surrounds, never seen a specialist in his ownership.
  3. How did you plumb the external e30 pump as a lift? Edit: Saw your for sale post. Trying to avoid a fuel cell for now.
  4. Am toying with the idea of using fuel tank foam and leave out the surge tank and just use straight lift pump to my 044 ext. Any ideas on this? I think if packed tightly it wouldn't clog lift filter with disintegrated foam. Also wouldn't mess with e30 level sensor as its float in tube.
  5. ^Wondering if a diesel fuel cooler could be adapted to a high pressure petrol system. http://www.speedmaxperformance.com/Store/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=29889 Maybe one day....
  6. Some good points there guys thanks. My in-tank HP pump is completely goosed so thats why i have no flow... I scored an ebay generic insulated mount for the 044 so hopefully shouldn't make too much noise, not fussed either way as its a weekend warrior not a daily. So it looks like I'll be looking for a replacement low pressure pump for my in-tank and plumbing with teflon lines, I already have the fuel stank in the car anyway so thanks for that info Josh. Any idea on what the factory part number for the LP lift pump is, or a suitable aftermarket item? Would like to retain the oe sender so a directish fit replacement would be ideal. Also would be interested on what the optimum swirl pot size or design would be for this application considering I have turbo, Tomei Reg and 440cc injectors. Thanks again. edit: Found a "pre-pump" BMW number 16141179415 but haven't had any luck finding an aftermarket vdo, bosch or pierburg edit again:.. Seemingly if I have a primary pump of 200lph i will need a lift of at least 100lph which either of the e30 in tanks will do
  7. I'm pretty sure when i was looking at decks ages ago that alpine made a module that allowed you to use continue to use the steering controls. Which would mean its already prewired into the harness you have installed. As far as I'm aware the connectors have not changed. It will most likely be plug and play. If its not an urgent matter, call into rapid radio and talk to Mark he knows a heap of sh*t about Alpine gear.
  8. So for awhile now I've been running reasonably ok with my standard in tank fuel pump minus the surging on cornering.. I'm toying with upgrading to a single external Bosch 044 and using the original in-tank to supply a swirl pot of sorts. Goal is to place the 044 in where the factory external would be and to keep the swirl pot size to a minimum. I've heard of accumulators although I am unsure how effective they would be. If anyone has experience/recommendations to aid my install It'd be greatly appreciated. Will post a thread on it once I get my sh*t together later this month. Chur Final plan draft: Replace hp intank with low pressure high flow lift pump. Acquire/fabricate ~1L fuel accumulator Mount 044 and accumulator where original external would go Plumb low pressure lines tank->filter->accumulator->tank Plumb high pressure lines accumulator->044->[-6AN]->rail->[-8AN]->accumulator Fit pressure gauge to regulator Will see what works with hose and fittings, but will definitely be using teflon braid in the HP side and will modify rail to suit AN.
  9. All Euro Parts do Meyle Heavy Duty bushes, best quality for road use and will be cheapest over everything else on the market from them. Personally I'd stay away from anything urethane/solid if using on the road, can't stand the bump steer feedback.
  10. I'm looking for a bunch of bits for a thrasher i just picked up. Ideally im looking for alpine, but any white will do. Need front wings, and a couple doors. Don't care about condition of paint etc as long as straight and rust free. Drop me a txt 0211483020. Cheers
  11. Autosure good. Mainstream are ok, Janssens are not good. Only dealt with these three, judged by my experiences as a tech. When it comes to your 135 it would make sense to get breakdown insurance. A friend spent over 3k in his first year of ownership on replacing; cracked rocker cover, blown charge pipe, failed electric water pump and thermostat, bluetooth repair, the list goes on.... 15k or annual service intervals are not excessive and all that you require. Use any reputable garage you like. I would say it would be well worth it if you get Autosure extreme. It covers pretty much everything with some exceptions, read the fine print on the policy wording. You also get AA road service included. You should be aware that most policies won't cover suspension components due to wear etc, essentially any rubbers or consumables like brakes, tyres, bushes, ball joints, really anything that is checked in a service and should be replaced as such. Good luck!
  12. Paul, Taylor Automotive, just off Khyber Pass. He doesn't f**k about and his price reflects that... edit: He builds engines only, just realised you probably want a one stop shop. Maybe pm one of the race guys on here?
  13. Bm workshop, grey lynn. They supply oe filters like Hengst Meyle etc, will be cheaper than the ryco that supersheap and repco stock at exorbitant prices.
  14. I can vouch for the quality of this car, alot of thought and precision has gone into it where it counts. GLWS Your welcome to take mine for a fang when it suits you. I need some contructive critisism on the tuning side of things
  15. If you can parallel import the genuine wiring harness you will save yourself alot of grief and money. I can say from experience that those cheap aftermarket harnesses work poorly with the canbus multiplexed systems and will cause disruptions to your diagnostics and light operation etc. I don't have enough fingers to count the times I've removed aftermarket wiring to replace with genuine after customer complaints. Save yourself the hassle. Look up someone like all euro parts, speed nz or even bm workshop. Failing those ebay is usually a cheap source for oe parts.
  16. I'm looking at investing in a F650 as a more road capable stablemate for the wr450. Most bikes in my price bracket are going to have covered at least 40k and between the years of 1996 and 2006. It is my understanding that for the most part the bmw motorcycle lineage especially the thumper are fairly reliable bikes and well capable of doing over 100k with effective servicing. Does anyone have any experience on the dual sport bmw's and if so is there anything to look out for or avoid? Cheers!
  17. Take it to Glenn, or a bmw specialist. Ron wood auto electrical in point chev are wizards with their old school tools and reasonably priced. Get it diagnosed properly. Even the most qualified of bmw techs wouldn't be sure of a correct repair path without first doing a proper diagnosis path on the vehicle. Could be a whole number of things ranging from temp sensors (not the sender you unplugged) to vanos units, stretched timing chains and poor compression. Your guesstech should've sent it to a specialist after the first fumble...
  18. How do you justify wanting 4500 for it in its current state? I'd be on the phone at 1500. Pm me if that price is acceptable.
  19. Not interested in selling just the bits? In no rush for em, just want to sit on em till I acquire a suitable e91.
  20. how much you after for the obc? could be keen. pm me.
  21. Thats quite reasonable, although i only need the parts will be doing the swap myself.
  22. I'm assuming the manual kit would bolt straight into an e91 320d LCi? Are the boxes the same between models? How many kms on it and what would it set me back? Pm me with a price if you can I'm seriously interested.
  23. Well you've done the Toyota in a Bmw how about a bmw in a Toyota?
  24. Must be looking at different information then. I'd put a hundy on it selling before christmas. Look me up if it doesn't...
