dont worry too much about model numbers and letters for now.. it sounds like a great little run about car. and once you start making some good money you can always find a nice 328 or something else later on! a bmw is still a bmw!

They are great cars actually. Very comfortable to drive and spacious, recaro seats are nice. Don't have too many problems afaik but at the end of the day a Honda is a Honda. Not a bmw. Price keeps dropping. So might be worth it if you find a good one. Should be 15k or less by now. My only fault with the cl7 as opposed to the older cl1 h22 engine or dc2/ek9s with te b16/b18 engines is that the new k24 in this is an electronic vtec, same with dc5s k20. Older ones have the mechanical vtec. But yep. I think it's a good car, good fun to drive, works well as a family car being 4 doors as opposed to the 330ci.

Can get a 325i touring msport with relatively lowish kms for 20k.. Can get the 2L for around 15-16k.

I don't really understand what you mean by you can't afford to run it. It's not a hugely expensive car, nor should it be costing you any more money in terms of repairs since it's been done, or fuel since it's a 1.8L. I duno but it seems more sense to keep it! It sounds like a minter, more reason you should keep it and have trouble free motoring rather than sell for loss, downgrade to a $2000 car then spend $2000 on repairs and you end up with same money spent and a lesser car than this tidy e36! Just my 2c

Photos would help, Sounds tidy and great condition but despite that it's a 1993 and I personally wouldn't pay 4000-4500 for it..

its a personal opinion of market value.. but single letter plates are generally regarded in the 6 figure range, anything that is a significant noun or word and is 2-4 letters is in the 4-5 figure range.. eg. GOD, BMW, AUDI etc anything other than that which is spelt correctly (without using numbers for letters etc) is considered anywhere between 500- thousands range.. and anything that is spelt with 1s instead of I's and 4s instead of As are worth not a whole lot... same goes for anything *personal* like "NO1DAD" or "4 LISA".. but all of this^^^^ is my opinion, which is generated from observation of what plates are listed and sell for on trademe.. haha but at the end of the day, its only worth something if you find the right buyer. friend bought something like GT8888 or something and got a note on his car asking to buy the plate and he sold it for 20k.......

when I said good luck to finding a e46 wagon i had in mind a motorsport 330i wagon haha, just didnt say it out loud. ive only ever seen 2 i think in the last year and a bit. one was in hamilton, i regret not buying that... and one other one im sure.. but really hard to find 330i msport wagons, especially facelift and black!! anyways, if you got a stagea, might aswell keep that and try to sell the e36 or maybe make it a project? m3 engine??
