  3. The way I see it it's very simple. Think of it as another form in which you keep your assets. Obviously there is cash and bank deposits. House and assets. Cash and any kind of money is not going anywhere. But assets such as a house appreciates in value and a car depreciates. However something like this will hold its value whether you keep it for 1 month or 1 year. If you can sell it without losing any money, including the time, delivery or transport, and whatever else, then it's essentially the same as keeping money in your bank. Now if you had to take a loan or something to buy it then calculate whether the interest can be covered in the event of a sale. Now, if you plan to use this in the future, work out if you really want this in your car. From what you've said, wanting to make it more powerful than an m5, id say its totally worth it. Do it!

    Solve my mystery?

Have you tried taking a different road to work? Haha but seriously, if you had the car parked say further away from home so you didn't have to drive to that "end of your road" area, would it make any difference? Does it only do it when it's super cold? Have you checked your engine oil grade? Maybe your oil is too thick and just can't heat up fast enough due to the coldness overnight. The temperature will be much lower overnight compared to later that evening despite the car not being driven
  7. It will definitely cost more buy being a newer car hopefully u will have less problems. But e90s are weird. They don't have a engine oil dipstick so u must rely on the computer to tell u if ur running low but u can check it. I would stick with e46 personally because I think they look 10x better than an e90 but I'm pretty biased
  8. I can say from experience that it won't be easy to tick all those boxes! (Because its the same as what I was looking for) Black e46 coupe 325/330ci msport for 10-12k. I eventually got my 330i sedan because I couldn't find a nice coupe.. But they do exist somewhere. And someone will be selling eventually just a matter of time... My friend just sold his 2003 facelift black msport 330ci coupe for 13500 and had only done 70-80kms was a good buy for someone.. How come you're not considering the e46 sedan? When ur considering the e39? I was reluctant with my sedan at first but I find that once I'm sitting inside there is no difference between a coupe lol.. But yea. Might be easier and cheaper to buy a 530i but repair costs I reckon are higher due to more common suspension issues in the e39. I've yet to spend much money on my e46 and I've had it for over a year. Only done oil and filter changes and tyres basically so far. No issues at all. Anyways good luck
  9. Agree. Great color, price seems reasonable considering there's no other e39 m5 on the market.. Whether someone is willing to pay this price is a different story..
  10. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-613489372.htm Listed today, someone must buy this
  11. You can take the orange ones off my car I'll even tint it for you if u like or you can do that yourself

    E30 318i 1987

My friend will be keen on the e30 I think. He was gonna buy it before you did on trademe not long ago lol
  14. Yep, will be focusing on bodywork soon but not urgently. Want to take my time and get the important things done right from the beginning.
  15. got pretty annoyed about the numberplate holder/surround thingy so quickly took that off repositioned the front plates too, and took some quick photos (yes.. it has one smiley headlight.. dont ask my why.. and stupid exhaust tip, need to take this off soon)
  16. Hi everyone, Last weekend I picked up a 1989 318i Coupe. Some details: Its a Japanese import thats done 190ks Cosmoschwarz Metallic Few spots of rust but nothing structural I think Automatic gearbox M40b18 engine ripped cloth interior multiple cracks on dash lowered on springs and aftermarket 15" wheels Plans: Basically I want to make this car looking as close to stock as possible, tidy it up and make sure its in good mechanical order. Engine oil and filter change, Investigate the tappet noise (the most important) and if the engine checks out okay, then I will do a manual conversion on it pretty soon if engine seems to be nearing death then I may consider doing a swap for something like an m50 or m52b25/28 maybe?? then comes the suspension work and finally the cosmetic stuff like sorting out the rust and paintwork, changing the wheels, etc etc Overall pretty rough, but I bought it with the intention of fixing it up slowly so I will try to update this page as often as possible with progress and possible questions and I would appreciate it if those who are more experienced with E30s can chip in ideas and thoughts. Photos: Need to get some new BMW badges... very important!! So I was sitting at home and decided Im going to do some light cosmetic work on the car: fix up the faded plastic bits before: after: got some great results and attacked a few other places on the car.. The product I used was something called "Back to black" lol.. i posted about it before but I will take another photo and upload a photo for those who want to try it out. its cheap as chips and basically restores the "blackness" to faded areas.. Let me know what you guys think! keen to hear thoughts and opinions

    The bastard child.

Looks amazing! (I wonder if it would look better with the plate just below the grill on the actual body of the car?)
  18. Mainfreight estimates $109 pick up from seller and I pick up from depo. Might try some other companies, maybe fastway couriers?
  19. Wow, hard to believe WOF places let this through. But anyways welcome and don't worry, English is fine with me
  20. Hi guys, im thinking of buying a set of mags with tyres and seller will only do pick up. he is located in Levin, so I was wondering if there is anyone here who can pick them up on my behalf, and either drive it up to auckland (if you're ever coming up anytime soon) or send it over via mainfreight or some other freight service. Its not super important and if its too much trouble ill just leave it but thought id ask just in case. cheers Kyu
