  1. Yup, exactly. Nope haven't had an engine stop, apart from the practice shutdowns we do, but it flys pretty well Asymmetric anyway. The rudder trim is awesome. I wouldn't mind crossing the Tasman in a twin, it was flying across the Cook Straight in the 172 that had everyone a bit nervous.
  2. You could fund me a type rating for a Herc, and buy one of them. Then you can take the car on the plane
  3. I have a PPL and well on the way to a CPL, so if anyone wants a personal Charter pilot for their C172/DA42 I can help you out
  4. Last time I checked they could be bought new, but at $400-500 each

    A Topic

It does say each vehicle must stay within it's lane, but i believe generally it is interpreted that a right turning vehicle from a single lane will turn into the righthand lane of a two-lane road. Probably should be clarified in future roadcodes?
  6. Haha yup, and covered in scribble (advertising?). Only saw it from a distance but pretty sure I recognised the plate.
  7. Saw some funky coloured frenchie at the Bombay/Pukekohe service centre when i was filling up with gas + pie. Jack?
  8. Thread Dredge! I have just recently gotten into Cycling, with an old Concord 10-speed, and quickly upgraded to a Trek 1.1 Roadie. Now considering turning the Concord into a fixie, or perhaps just restoring it as-is. Still need to get some decent pedals, shoes + cleats for the 1.1, but hoping to make Taupo this year, if my cars don't take too much time off me! Concord: Trek 1.1: Anyone else here doing Taupo this year? (Sorry not entirely on topic, but i did mention Fixies once )
  9. Maybe a more useful thread would be who has what goodies where, in terms of desirable equipment like scanners, engine hoists, extra sized BFH's etc? (Available to loan to BS'ers)
  10. HB John! Have a good one. (Do a skid? )
  11. For e38king's sake: Static = Static Camber, i.e camber as the car sits still at it's current ride height. Dynamic Camber = Camber as the suspension comes under load, generally is designed to increase. Caster = Measurement of the angle the suspension moves through an a back - forth sense, controls camber during cornering. More caster = more camber under cornering and suspension loads. Caster also makes the car tend to stay straight, making it difficult to steer, but power-steering generally overcomes this pretty easy. Thats as far as I know it, I could be wrong but hoopefully not by much!!
  12. I'd go for the AVS personally, I had an S4 in my Subaru (4-Star) and it was great. No false alarms, but did go off when someone tried to pop the lock on the back door. Mongoose I'm not so fond of, I've heard a bit that they are a very successful company at branding, making their alarms desirable but that they are no better than any other 5-star, and normally more expensive. And my flatmate had a mongoose. It went off on every single hot day there was without fail. Absolute pain. Edit: Also the AVS has many cool add-on features you can get, tilt sensor, microwave sensor, gps tracking etc etc
  13. Before you guess what could or couldn't be the problem, find somewhere who WILL do a wheel alignment on it, so you know what your dealing with.

    Geography Test

    17860. Disappointed. I don't really know Europe.

    Yet Another E30

Finally got around to putting some newer pics on the computer. Had to put the standard springs back into the rear as the kings weren't quite captive (only just!), so now has a decent bit of rake. Now with $5 roof racks (genuine pro-rack even ) And in the process of getting a WoF last week. Pretty much replaced the whole steering system minus the reservoir, and steering shaft + universal.

    GRUNT5

Awesome pic. PFL sedans really are the best huh? (I'm not biased )
  17. Well I can safely say there are no goodies left on the E30 at Hamilton. Although the grey seats are in good nick, i don't think anyone ever actually wants them. On another note, holy cr*p that yard is tiny! like 1/5th the size of Lower Hutt at best! Only two rows wide even. Hope they find somewhere bigger in Hamilton and move on, cos I am majorly dissapointed.
  18. I can't believe this, but I agree with Shady! An E30 is always worth saving, who cares if he could buy a nicer one for cheaper/with less work, it's a shedload more fun to actually fix the thing up, so you can say "I did this" than to just buy a nice one that is someone else's work.
  19. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-477391170.htm Not the best looking I've seen, but one of the cheapest! (And damn tidy)
  20. Way to make you feel manly!
  21. I've used them occasionally but to be honest never noticed any difference in the way the car ran, or the fuel economy I achieved. Not really sure if they actually do anything haha.
  22. All sorted now, thanks heaps guys . Can't believe I spent 3 hours wrestling with it when it was that simple
  23. Just an idea, but how much did you fill it? I.E to the first click on the pump? Or all the way to the brim? As if it was filled to the brim rather than the first click you would have had a fair amount of fuel leaking out of the fuel tank vents (or vented fuel cap) on every corner you went around. (Dunno what the setup is like for a long range tank, but if it has a vent within the boot that could be your problem maybe?)
  24. Cant go out sideways as the pinion gets in the way. Hadn't thought of bending the tabs but I guess that'll work
  25. Ok so it was the steering rack itself apparently. Now I'm in the process of swapping it over for another, but the Universal Joint won't come off the pinion on the old rack, and I can't figure out how to get it off, nor how to manoeuvre the rack out of the car?! Seems there is no space between the sump and the mounting brackets. Anyone have any tips? I really want to get this sorted today so I can finally get my WoF!
