  1. From memory I got to 6.3 on a trip in the 316I so that's not unreasonable. I have a very heavy foot when it comes to departing intersections and don't waste time getting up to speed with 100kph traffic either
  2. 45kms in 35mins each way everyday. Hopefully next year will be 3 kms, 5mins. The commute isn't bad, it's just the petrol bill thats frustrating. Using twice as much as when I was in town.
  3. Sold the red one to someone who will hopefully do everything I ever intended to with it. Mixed emotions.
  4. Finally got the injectors back in with new o-rings to replace the damaged ones... and still a no start :(. Need to get a NOID light and check for injector signal. Had some coughs immediately after pulsing an injector with 4.5V but nowhere near enough to catch. Getting frustrating fast! Car ran fine prior to the rust repairs.
  5. If it's the cheapest possible option it's $20 for castrol modern engine oil at Repco at the moment, and about $20-30 for a filter. M40s don't even need to be lifted up to do an oil change, M20s a jack and two jack stands will suffice. If you don't know what you are doing however, then go see Glenn.
  6. First day back at work for the year. First PT session. Didn't die. Life is good!

    Quick rant thread.

Even if I did, EFTPOS is considered a "Cash" payment as it is not Credit or otherwise. Which only makes those who offer "cash" sound even more stupid. (Plus actual cash requires far more handling than eftpos or bank transfer anyway!)
  8. If m54 has the same bellhousing as m52 then your trans will bolt up. The driveshaft will need changing, and the transmission will be further back so shift linkages need shortening. I haven't done the swap myself, but when looking for manual swap info that was the general consensus
  9. If these are still around in a couple months I will be super keen! Need to sell E30 and save some cash moneys first!

    Quick rant thread.

When people ask a question on trademe offering substantially lower than the buy now, but, wait for it... "Cash". What else do they think they can pay with?! Their McDonalds toy collection? I am a private seller, I don't do finance, therefore every sale is "Cash"!!!
  11. M52B28 in a compact is almost becoming common now. Definitely go the road less travelled. M54B30 would be awesome. Plus a 330Ti would really make people take a second look.
  12. Can't get Rego without Wof. Seems like the wrong way round to me, but thats how it's done. I'm sure he'll be all over it once he gets his WoF though! Also congrats Elijah, not a WoF yet, but pretty much is!
  13. Polished front and rear chrome bumpers. This waiting for parts business sucks. Oh ordered paint too, so grey door will become blue door.
  14. I'd wish you luck, but you've been working on it so long surely it's perfect?
  15. But even then, why? When there is so much choice in RHD Z3s and no benefit at all to getting an awkward LHD one. Who even imports something so mundane in LHD?
  16. Good point. How many litres is the average 150kw electric motor? Perhaps kw/kg is a better metric for electric
  17. No more blue door! Grey primer instead, but it's a start! 2 weeks to the day til I can get my injector seals (cheaper to pick them up on my next visit to wellington than pay $6 freight for $5 of seals). After that I should have it on the road. Meanwhile the racecar got a 19mm irrigation elbow between the heater hoses, and filled with coolant, started and no leaks! Very hot inside with both front window regs stuffed, and no blower motor though. Especially with the huge hole in the firewall yet to be filled! And the compact.... well it needs a profile gasket. So I'll keep topping up the water until I have at least one more car road legal and can afford to pull it off the road and repair it. Or keep an eye out for a very cheap m43b16.

    Quick Questions

Have you looked local? http://www.basisnz.co.nz/ has a whole range of trims. Around $8 a metre so not terribly priced. This looks like the right one for rear windscreen to me? http://www.basisnz.co.nz/Products/Window-rubber-seals/Filler-strip/FILLER-STRIP-(217-009) Edit: Just noticed that particular one is very expensive compared to others they stock
  19. Unstuck stuck injectors, only to lose two clips trying to re-install them, and damage some o-rings. Decision time. Pay whatever exorbitant amount SCA etc wants for them Or wait 15-25 days for shipping from ali-express...
  20. Except this is a huge waste of time, because engines do not "scale" like that. If they did, then every manufacturer would build a hot little motor and upsize it, and they would all be based off motorcycle engines. But anyway, this thread has been done to death, you are flogging a dead horse. Just agree to disagree already! You don't have to always prove everyone wrong, you can just let them be wrong and take comfort that you are right (in your own opinion at least).
  21. Maybe get them to grab out a repco equivalent to compare too, as that's what I always buy and it fits mine. It'll be interesting to see if the ryco is different, or they are both the same.
  22. Doesn't matter, they told you it would fit and it doesn't. Not fit for purpose as per fair trading act?
  23. Did they give you the right one? There are two listing's for an m43, one is tall and skinny, one short and fat. I haven't had any issues with repco branded filters before, bit never splashed out for a real ryco (discount I get is much better on repco homebrands!)
  24. Consider it a lesson learned, I did when it was my turn
