  1. Picked up my 3rd 316i. Drives bloody well for 251xxxkms. Then spent 2 hours rewiring the brake lights as they were shorting somewhere.
  2. Have heard good things about both yellowspeeds and xyz(speedfactor sell them i think?). Will be getting one or the other eventually for my project
  3. Considering how much it costs to be a member here I think Josh and James are doing a damn good job! Perhaps if you don't like it so much he can refund you your membership fee?
  4. I got all exited because it looked like the store was up and running again but alas: This was after proceeding through checkout and filling out billing details, but prior to "Step 2: Confirm & Pay"
  5. Stripped my instrument cluster and a japanese import cluster. Rebuilt a working cluster with NZ New gauges. (l/100kms, 55l fuel tank w/ no additional writing, symbols not words for parking brake lights etc) Now have a complete working cluster, and no fuel instead of the 30ish the 62l gauge was suggesting
  6. I have some BMW pumas haha. Drift cats though not running shoes. The e30 barely ever gets driven but I do need to take it to a meet sometime. Tossing up whether to take that or the compact to Eurohaus in Taupo in 2 weeks.
  7. Try this link: http://bimmersport.co.nz/settings/username/ If that doesn't work then there is definitely something special with your account!
  8. I'm sure a sweet theme will come along at some stage and bring back the BS vibe we all know and love. I'm liking the push notifications... for now. Also seems reasonably intuitive to change settings and such once you start looking. I wasn't a fan of the multiple different pages of various settings to scroll through in the old one.
  9. Look above, just explained to Brent how to do it
  10. Easy to fix, under your name at the top click Account Settings > Display Name and change it back.
  11. Yeah I just wasn't sure if it was all showing as Unread, or all as Read haha. Will give it a try and see if it works out. Can't hurt.
  12. Not sure if this is something that can be fixed, but all the posts are currently showing up as read/unread (not sure which?) so I can't tell whats a new post and what isn't. I'm guessing its the way content was migrated or something and will sort itself out as new content is posted?
  13. I would look at fixing the wiring so the disarm also activates the central locking, and not worry too much about the drivers lock being stuffed, as long as it will still lock and unlock with the remote. The rear door it sounds like you will need to get into the doorcard again, and possibly loose wires or something jammed with the central locking, again fiddle with it til it works, get the remote locking working and hopefully it'll be sweet Someone else will have better details on what exactly to wire the alarm into to make it work.
  14. A corolla is terribly noisy and uncomfortable on a roadtrip with hard, horrible seats . The compact is comfortable, quiet and rides well as you would expect a BMW to, with comfortable seats. But apart from that yeah it's no better than a corolla. A corolla that won't kill your back and ears on a roadtrip.
  15. Got another one! E36 316i manual for under $800. I now own THREE 316is. Oops. To be fair they are all different... E30, E36ti and now E36 sedan.
  16. I strongly disagree. About the every level thing. Sure it's got its downsides, but my 316i is ridiculously economical, plenty spacious, still has proper BMW comfort on the open road and is tiny, having all the benefits associated... easy to park, very small turning circle etc. Gutless and somewhat of an ugly duckling yeah, but the hatch is damn useful. Can't get a dishwasher in a Sedan or Coupe.
  17. The problem you will most likely run into is the time taken to sell it. While there may be A buyer for it with the spare cash and the love to spend on it, they likely won't be looking when you want to sell and unless you drop the price and sell to someone who wants it but can't afford what it's worth, it will probably take many months to sell. It is worth that much for sure, but the demand probably isn't high enough to sell it in a reasonable timeframe.
  18. Stroker kit won't fly, the 25% rule applies essentially to bolt on modifications, not full engine rebuilds. Also, if you read the FAQs then you will see that threshold refers to swapping gearboxes like for like, and a manual conversion according to lvvta always requires a cert.
  19. Larger capacity engine also always requires a cert even if same/similar power.

    Car insurance

State does glass on top of any insurance, i have all 3 cars insured just third party with glass at the moment.
  21. +1 for captain transporter, instant online quotes too so easy to see what it'll cost ya.

    Quick rant thread.

A likely story. So he is being paid to catch pokemon. Boy he has you guys fooled!
  23. You are having all the luck!
  24. But the E38 is also comfortable and quiet, something a Jazz will never be. Also, having driven one, fun must be a personal thing, I found it rather bland, where even a 1.6 E36 can be fun in the right hands.
