Sure enough, both needed turbo replacements. Amazed thats all they needed. Now the new twin turbo C63s we just got in, they sound great. Almost a demonic growl from the exhaust. So tough.

Im not so sure. It specifically specifies Polyurethane in its example, its dubious whether they would consider aluminium as an "appropriate material". Either way, as mentioned, its unlikely anyone would notice or care.

i would rock the sh*t out of one if i could afford it. Pretty sweet looking hatch imo, far better than anything BMW has in that segment. They are made to be loud and shouty, all up in your face, banging and crackling along the road. In saying that i do second the concerns about longevity. We have only seen a couple in for issues, and none of them too serious. Certainly nothing terminal yet, and the original A45 has been around or year or so, so it bodes well but only time will tell.

Mercedes updating the A45 AMG.... it now makes 381HP from a 2L 4 banger. It does take 26PSI of boost to get there though. That shits amazing.

lol and people wonder why NZ New doesnt really mean a lot in terms of servicing. typical kiwis. Yeah i was surprised how easy it was to do. Just need a 17mm spanner, 13mm spanner and a T30 torx bit. Apparently the older pumps had another pipe that requires a big triple square driver bit, but mine had the rubber hose. The direct injection is bloody loud on the Golf, no rattles but lots of ticking/clattering at idle. Seems pretty normal from the ones ive looked at.

Did the cam follower on my GTI today. Cheap ($30 off ebay) and took me half an hour to do. Easy. Mine wasnt too worn but there are some horror stories out there.

Just had a fresh from Germany AMG C63 come in to work. Twin turbo 4L, so nice. It did have something interesting though... red weaved carbon fiber in the dash. Where have i seen that before? Ah yes, the E36.
