  1. lol and people wonder why NZ New doesnt really mean a lot in terms of servicing. typical kiwis. Yeah i was surprised how easy it was to do. Just need a 17mm spanner, 13mm spanner and a T30 torx bit. Apparently the older pumps had another pipe that requires a big triple square driver bit, but mine had the rubber hose. The direct injection is bloody loud on the Golf, no rattles but lots of ticking/clattering at idle. Seems pretty normal from the ones ive looked at.
  2. heard good and bad about toyshop. i wouldnt use them personally but opinions are like assholes.
  3. Did the cam follower on my GTI today. Cheap ($30 off ebay) and took me half an hour to do. Easy. Mine wasnt too worn but there are some horror stories out there.
  4. You arent a closet pyro are you?
  5. you really didnt need to dredge this up from the past. although the comment above about Arabic insults is kinda relevant to the open letter situation (shame i cant see who the seller was)
  6. why arent you IP banned already?

  9. wow, its got some really good bits on it
  10. Just had a fresh from Germany AMG C63 come in to work. Twin turbo 4L, so nice. It did have something interesting though... red weaved carbon fiber in the dash. Where have i seen that before? Ah yes, the E36.

    Quick rant thread.

    only if its SUPER racist.
  12. damn you, stop showing pictures of good looking E38s, i really dont need to own one.
  13. great looking car, would love to have a classic Porsche like this one day.
  14. ah okay, ill admit, i didnt read the article. 100 GBP fine is far more reasonable, and yes his own damn fault for not paying or showing up to court. idiot.
  15. Agreed. Red cars, never again.
  16. that fines a bit bloody ridiculous isnt it? 1000 GBP is about $2300 NZD. I agree slow people hogging lanes is a pain but bloody hell.
  17. because its utterly filthy under there maybe? Not always a sure sign of neglect but when its that dirty its not usually the sign of someone that has treated their car better than their spouse.
  18. Looks nice, NZ New too (despite what the auction says).
  19. Just cleaning the garage out and have some bits left over. E36 front fog lights. Used condition. Purchased for my M3 but not needed. $110 shipped for the pair. E36 M3 3.0 hand brake shoes (may fit other models too, see pic). ATE brand, not sure if genuine but good OEM brand. Brand new. $40 shipped for set M52 thermostat. BEHR brand, new unused. Fits various models, PN 11531437040. $100 shipped E36 M3 3.0 cam position sensors (intake, exhaust and TDC). Bloody expensive and hard to get new. Mine had an issue which i actually think was due to the intake sensor being dirty, but just for peace of mind i replaced all of them. Theres a good chance all of them are working fine, but the possibility one is intermittently faulty. Have tested with oscilloscope and couldnt see any irregularity. Strain relief on cables have broken away due to age. $120 for the lot
  20. the rpm at 100kph on my E36 with manual box and auto diff was terrible, over 3000rpm iirc. Made for some damn quick getaways though!
  21. M3 looking great on the DS2s.
  22. my old one had the o2 sensors removed when the cats were cut out many years ago. Never had an issue, and as it had no CEL (iirc it was too early for one) there was no light but it did log codes in the system for them. No records of it being chipped or tuned, and according to interweb reports the old E36s its pretty common to pull them out when they fail and just not replace them. I did often wonder though what the economy would have been like if i readded them but the cost put me off. I since sold the car.
