  1. im not entirely sure why anyone is actually thinking the body was changed, its obvious its had new big end shells installed as previous viewers noted a deathly knock. The body is the same, still has the same marks/dents etc. What i would be interested to know, is what work was done during the reshelling.... but im not going to buy it, so doesnt really matter me.
  2. i saw that same cab this morning. Looked tidy. Also saw an E30 sedan after it had gone up the arse of a toyota vitz on SH2
  3. The steering rack was IMO one of the biggest failures of the E36 M3. I always thought it killed the whole enjoyment of the twisties because its was so slow and just not sport like at all. Rather odd considering they did have other, better racks at the time.
  4. It may be a BMW oriented forum, but most, if not all of us like other brands as well. Audi right now is the lesser of all evils.
  5. So much nope to new Mercs. cheaply built, hideously unreliable, mass produced and over priced pieces of sh*t. Audi for sure.
  6. The strange part that sort of points to more than just mindless vandalism to me, is that they cut the wires. didnt pull them out or snap them, cut them. Weirdos. We shell a shitload of mirrors through work. Usually people driving down narrow streets clipping them and breaking the glass or housing.
  7. If theyre that cheap over there, it'd make a good donor for a manual swap. Love that Alpina one above. I'd love an 8 series but the maintenance costs scare me (even doing all the work myself, still aint cheap!).
  8. Now, if it actually was a wagon..... mmm.
  9. a parts bin special from a few years ago. awesome cars, much want for one.
  10. beautiful car, undoubtedly one of the best. Good luck!
  11. saw this wagon on trademe, very very nice. Great combination. Welcome
  12. E36, E46 or E90? If its an E36 be aware that the jap imports have terrible autos that will result in the "jatco jerk" where they jerk and thump into second gear. The E46 seems to be better and the e90 is all good. Ill second what Richard says though, the 323i in either chassis is underpowered. Youre better off getting a higher spec model, a 328i or 330i. Not only will you get more power, but the fuel consumption wont be that different as the engine wont have to work as hard to lug the car around.
  13. The RE002s i had on a previous car handled OK, but were unreliable. When i got the car it needed the RE002s on the front replaced as they delaminated (despite being almost new), and apparently thats really common.
  14. dont even get me started on dealers changing cambelts as cheap as possible and not doing waterpump and tensioners.... :|
  15. oh, a quick google says it might look like this? In that case, pass. Maybe an oil filter wrench or strap?
  16. im almost 100% sure i just got the socket (36mm) from Repco.
  17. It takes Ron ages because his abacus is inefficient.
  18. Just have everything marked as a "gift"?
  19. Im a bit late, but Mark, the M3 doesnt have the Harmon Kardon system, only the Hifi system so AFAIK no standalone amp. I know the crackling you mean, it didnt happen with the old headunit and i never had a chance to investigate further. I did note that turning the bass down lessened it enough to not bother me. Might be worth checking the power and ground wiring to the headunit, and maybe running a new ground (i think i just used the one in the loom from memory, i was running low on time).
  20. Very common. I had one thread on my old M3 cover that would probably need a helicoil next time the cover is off. It held this time but it was soft. Well done on getting stuck in and fixing it yourself. Certainly drilling into that very expensive head must be daunting. I heard of one guy on another forum that had to helicoil the whole lot after a shady mechanic over torqued the lot!
  21. Contact the forum user Ethirty Andy, he is the owner, and seller of the V12 E34. Its an amazing car, and far too much car for the little money.

    Boom.

i understand im not a potential buyer for this car, so might be biased, but im not convinced on the "set price super high and let market set value" idea. IMO if i see a car that is well over priced, i dont tend to even waste my time contacting them, ill just move onto someone who is realistic. If hes going to play that game, he better not get insulted if someone offers him 10k less than asking price. cant have it both ways. Im more of a "set price at a little over what i want but still realistic" kinda guy.
  23. baaaarrrrrpp *fart* baaarrrrpppp

    Boom.

hardly "slagging his car off" imo. Mostly kind words about its looks and condition, but quite rightly stating its over priced (and mentioning its slightly dubious history). Its a beautiful car, no doubt.
