People that still rubbish CVT are either recycling old stories of early CVT, and/or haven't lived with a good modern one. Love my one in my daily. Wouldn't want to go back to a trans that has gears.

A couple of months on, how do you like the new springs?

Yeah this is a weird thing with the vin decoders I think. I noticed that on both the M3, and on my earlier MSport 323i that had the same 4 spoke wheel. Both listed it as "multifunction". The wheel you have fitted is much better than the old 4 spoke, but i never really clicked with that design of wheel. Its pretty ugly imo (that giant airbag, ugh). I had planned on ditching the airbag and going for a nice Nardi wheel. Easy on that car because no passenger airbag, unlike my M328i. E: oh and the correct fluid for the diff is Penrite 80W-140 (or as i originally used, Castrol Syntrax Limited Slip 75W-140, but its hard to get. We carried it on the shelf when I did parts at Mercedes). Has all the proper additives in it for the LSD. Ill be doing mine this weekend.

Im at my wits end trying to find the part number for this damn bracket, so does anyone happen to have one from an M3 that was wrecked or modified? It holds the large round electrical connector to the side of the expansion tank. Its the black bracket on the side in the photo

KM doesnt tell the whole story though. Could've been sitting rotting for a long period, or sitting in traffic with lots of engine hour and few KM. Totally agree with Glenn though, all of that stuff is deferred maintenance that is catching up now.

Oh boy, wish I had the money. Proper trans, proper amount of doors, and not black. Swoon. E: I haven't run the options, but is that some sort of extended leather? Looks like stitched leather instead of the usual polished metal dash trim?

Lol, maybe I need to read my own posts! Though the notched covers had worked but maybe not. I'm guessing it's a seal or something, maybe between glass and light body? Yeah I did a spreadsheet ages ago on the total spent. It was a little shocking, but meant all the important parts had been done. I don't know if Mark ever received the front lip mounting hardware I sent, I suspect it was lost in the mail >_< It's a good car and made damn good power on the Dyno

Oh cool, congrats on buying it. It was a great car and really wasnt showing its age/miles too badly when I sold it. Looks like Mark took good care of it too, and got it bit of use out of it! I saw your post about the steering wheel, recognised the interior and wondered if it was my old one. Hope to see more of it. Hopefully Mark passed on the folder of receipts, it was massive. I modified the headlight bulb covers to put a slot in them as the headlights fogged up otherwise. Be wise to vent them again when you get new ones. It was on stock springs, bilstein up front and stock rears. It has coil on plug, so no distributor or rotor to check, but I dont recall if the coils were original. Plugs were done when I had it, not sure if Mark has done them since, and would be due if he didnt.

Ok, so obviously i've been trying to sell this car for a bit now, have had more time wasters with this car than any car i have sold previously. A couple of people that were "super keen" have even test driven the car, only to suddenly not be keen based on the KM (i've made the KM pretty clear), or because it's not "A real M" (also obvious from the start). I've been offered as low as 7K, and even a couple of offers in my ballpark that I have accepted, only to never hear from them again. So i'm seriously considering keeping the car for a longer period. That would mean finishing the list of things I want to do to the car (mostly cosmetic stuff), sorting the suspension (upgrading, either BC Golds or maybe Koni, and poly bushes) and a cert. On a whim i popped to Pick A Part today and got a good haul. Turns out they have a coupe there, so grabbed a few things I needed, including the boot carpet and plastic trim.... which means I can finally f**k off the boot install. I still forgot the ambient temp sensor, which was the whole reason i went >_< Next time.

Bit rich for me. Guess i'll keep an eye on pick a part.

There was talk of it changing to that format, without the tent, way back before the current season started. I was surprised when it started and there was still a tent. Im looking forward to it. The best bits of the TG/GT shows for me was always the specials and challenges. Hope they do more cheap car challenges.

Bump, I need this sold to fund the next project. $10k will own it, and thats a god damn steal.

Purple tag steering rack?

Difference between measured air, and what's actually going into engine. No MAF, no measured air.
-
I was put off by "Expressions of interest for a 1973 BMW 2002 Touring are requested."
-
Have you checked the intake piping from the MAF to TB for cracks? Sounds like an intake leak.

Ill have something shortly, will PM you

Gosh Dave, stop trying to make an argument where there really isn't one. Keep in mind that both the American market is HUUUUGE compared to NZ, and that shipping rates to the States would be significantly less than shipping to NZ. You may then understand why shipping may be included for the US, but not for NZ.

Bump. Lots of time wasters and tire kickers, getting a bit tired of it all.

I thought the general consensus was avoid the 4 bangers like aids, because of unreliability and the economy difference wasn't worth it against a 6 pot?

Road noise is decent. I dont have a lot to compare it to, and the E36 is hardly whisper quiet, but it's not intrusive. I haven't driven in anything really wet yet, but damp roads seem to be ok (although I'm not one to push my luck in the wet). I still like them and would buy again.

That's not the wording at all. It's when the car is over 20 years old. https://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicles/vehicle-types/cars-and-passenger-vehicles/

If compliance is anything like getting my dereg mini reregistered, everyone you ask, even in the same branch, will give different answers. I'd hope it was better since the recent shake up though.
