  1. I've stripped down a getrag 250. Only problem i've found is a few springs inside the synchro rings (part 13) have broken. The springs in 1st and 2nd sync are destroyed as well Now i'm trying to find a part number http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=...hg=23&fg=15 The gearbox is from a 323i 1997-9?
  2. I've got one of the cheap L&Lee ones and it does the trick. I've used a few more expensive tigs at tec and find my cheapy works just as well. The tutor that recomended the L&Lee has had one for the last few years and hasn't had any problems yet. Oh and the user manual is in nearly un-readable chinglish Only thing i'm lacking now is materials, skill and time

    E36 Freshen up

your warrant inspector is going to get a nice surprise
  4. Hadn't heard of the panel damage part. Could be right as one of the side intrusion bar runs right along side the sound deadening. Although I don't think i'll worry about it Straight pipes are pretty loud. Centre section is heavy as well.
  5. I personally just used the heat gun. Came out quite messy. But was fine. Dry ice from boc seems to be the better option If your looking for all the hidden sound deadening there's some in the rear quater panels, in the doors, in under the dash, and some under the wiper motors. Sorry if i've ruined the surprise for you. Everything else is pretty obvious.

    M50B25 engine

vanos? is it the one from wellington with the 'leaking head gasket'. What sort of condition is it in? Does it come with accessories?alt, power steering, etc
  7. Where'd you go to get it weighed? What have you taken out of it so far. I'd like to see how mine compares
  8. It's a bit too far away for me but i'm sure someone else would like to get a deal http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=394463990
  9. Hold a screwdriver between 2 of the nuts that hold the pulley on.
  10. If you think the ve of the rb25det will be the same as your engine with a turbo. I'm sure it's possible to set up the sensors with enough time, money and skill. Standalone ecu hasn't crossed your mind? Your standard handbrake will be fine. If you look up Chelsea Denofa, he was using a factory handbrake up untill i got sick of drifting. There are a few people that can re-tune your factory ecu.

    e36 LSD

is it auto or manual? you might want to consider what ratio your getting
  12. Last lsd differential i saw sold was about 900. I paid 1200 a while back. The spinning test sometimes doesn't work. I nearly found this out the expensive way. Old oil can make an open diff bind up the spider gears. To avoid confusion pull the rear plate off it. I don't think the differential you were looking at was an lsd if one side spun slower then the other
  13. funny price. Not a fan but am impressed with the work done
  14. excuse my lack of experience. I thought that the other cars insurance company would be responsible for sorting it out?
  15. You'd be gambling with lhd headers. Might get lucky but i doubt it
  16. Think it was srbmw that had the last one for sale. UK ebay has a few cheap ones pop up. They are starting to get a bit more expensive now as people are starting to catch on to the mod Do they fit on an e46,e39 and/or e34?
  17. Filter really wont get you any noticable power. Do all modifications before getting the car tuned. You'll be wanting a remap. Headers might be something to look into.
  18. If e30 strut towers are anything like e36 ones they are known to mushroom up with stiff suspension (same effect as bashing them i suppose). They eventually tear. Cut up the strut tower and weld it higher.
  19. http://store.nexternal.com/ireland/camber-...one-m-p593.aspx I think vorshlag and tck lower about the same. Those e30 mounts look pretty trick
  20. Can you save what is happening in real time to use it for datalogging? Is that the purpose of the car computer or is there more to it?
  21. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-392004058.htm
  22. it isn't this one is it? http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....t=0&start=0 second hand engines are about 3k on trademe
  23. Sealed unit is a myth. I'd pull the sump/s(is there one or 2?) change the filter and gasket/s. Fill sump/s and do magic balancing act to lift back into place without spilling atf all over you. Or get one of the oil syringe things and pump it in there Hopefully someone that has more experience will put their 2 cents in
