525 nice but a 530d would absolutely smash it in on road performance and fuel economy, but you pay heaps more for the oil burner to begin with -

as opposed to the x5.I have driven two now...a 4.8 v8 and a 5.0d.Was impressed with how tight they feel. They feel HUGE tho.strangely a 5 series touring feels much smaller albeit quite long -
ask for a quote from Jeff gray,to check their timing

My name is Paul and i am a diesel convert.I finally sat down today and worked out the actual cost of running a diesel so for 10000 k say in one year for a 2005 manual 120d rego 417.39 ruc 537.80 diesel at 151.9 =865.83( a 5.7 l per 100 k per rightcar or whatever they call it) total 1821.02 for a 2005 manual 120i rego 287.54 petrol (lets say 91 for the argument ) 1626.75(@7.5 l per 100k per rightcar) total 1914.29 not much difference . In my experience the diesel has been ok to service, only oil changes so far at about 17k intervals,i do good runs of about 25k each way not much stop start.I guess at some point i will have to do a particulate filter or something. the figures are based on me buying 10000k ruc at a time.each time you buy you pay a $7 transaction fee. So on the face of it a diesel is HALF to run day to day but the ruc and higher reg put pay to that.Still got the excellent range and torque of at last a 3l petrol engine.cons is the smell of the stuff and sluggish take offs.I think the real world consumption of a 120i would be a bit more than the published figure as is my 6.5l 100k

would only consider a late late one, unfortunately nice ones are rare and will command a good price
-
i hear they like tyres too

a lot of bmw colours are like that...
-
well done,i keep coming back to these.......
-
i will tell you in a few months...my 120d has done 130ks and is now 8 yrs old...everything still works it goes very well and average consumption is 6.5l 100 k,its easy to get 5.5 l 100 on the open road,in fact i just got that driving from Gisborne to Napier to Wellington...

you might find it difficult to get a warranty on a car that s done 165,000ks
-
after my time with the 120d i dont think i will ever buy a petrol car agin

my little 120 has excellent steering, steering feel and brakes.Seems to be an exelent handler.I am 6.3 and with the seat fully down have headroom but although the seat can go even further back it doesnt leave much room behind me for a passenger . In my experience pirelli runflats are nicer than bridgestones or Contis. Its still harsh at times and that on 205 55 16s!

they have quite a complex electrcal system electric windows electric locking, the heater will probably be electrical controlled, maybe electric seats ,electirc sunroof The problems you will have will probably be electrical, none are major. The 535s will eventually blow the headgasket, big alloy head on a iron block. But they are a fantastic car for little money.THe best e34 you could find will probably be cheaper than a e30
