  1. I'm so doing this to my e30 this weekend. Maybe if I make a few modifications I can get it to run on air! Link I love how quality this product is. Bungy cords and old preserves jars FTMFW!
  2. Have a look at parallel imported. They have dozens of sets of 2-way 5.25 and 6" speakers for between $50-100 that won't require amping. Not as loud as boxed 6x9's but will fit in stock location.
  3. C'mon guys. Keep this on topic. Use the PM function for private convo's mmmkay?

    What a nice day...

Was nice up here too until about half an hour ago when it started to cloud over. Bloody typical seeing as I had planned to get a quick coat of paint on one of the house walls after work. Tell you what though, I was in Fiordland for the weekend and the weather was peeeerrrfect there, and aparently it pissed down up here and in AKLD.
  5. I support it in theory, but it will ruin the view on one side of the bridge. The artistic photographs are not clear as to which side it is proposed as it is shown varyingly on both sides depending on the photo. OK I re-read it - they want one on each side, so there goes the view from the bridge unless you are walking/cycling. It's about the only thing I enjoy about driving in Auckland. Why not suspend it from the bridge deck?
  6. Probably just need a new tacho or cluster. Contact one of the secondhand parts dealers on here (eg Ray, Brent and others) or look on trademe for a replacement. Make sure you get the right one for your car as the 6cyl cars are different to yours. If removing the instrument cluster is beyond you then see your nearest dealer or if in Auckland go and visit Glen at Botany Motorworx.
  7. Which lossless format do you use? What ripping software? Want to do this for my car, and have been meaning to re-rip from my CD's for some time as all my music is low-qual mp3 from back in the day when HDD space was expensive.
  8. go for a 318 manual - you will get a mint one for your 4-5k. Welcome. Look forward to seeing pics of your ride when you get one.
  9. Why not buy one of those speaker boxes that take two 6x9's, then buy some cheap and loud 6x9's and mount your headunit to the box and run wiring to convenient location, then its loud, and easy as unplugging the rear headunit connector to remove for racing.

    Spotted

Left my car at the long-term secure parking nearby and saw it. Looked mint from the road. I had planned to stop in for a yarn yesterday, but my flight was late and I didn't get in 'till after 5pm.
  11. Keep an eye out for Paihia - they did really well last year.
  12. We had one come along on a club run for shiny vehicles. He broke the diff. It was 3 weeks old. We never saw him or the vehicle again. Glad to see yours is stronger.
  13. Saw that too. I thought MOS was dead. Like the vid josh - suited the track.
  14. Wicked turnout. Good pics Tom. Unfortunately I couldn't attend as I was pub crawling with Andrew D for my g/f's birthday - ask him about it next time you see him - was carnage. Really disappointed to miss it as it looks at least as good as the last time we did this run. I see you brought the cosworth Chris? Sorry I missed you on Sunday - I tried to ring you. Congrats to all for what looks like the best meet in about a year.

    Car Alarms

I love my Dynatron. Hotwire - any chance of PMing me the key turn sequences for re-programming it? I lost the bit of paper and need to change the bleep, and re-program a remote. Would like all the others also for reference.
  16. Watched Will do it with a arattle gun - just put one end of the strut against a wall and went for it, but spring compressors only add 5 mins to each strut.
  17. 352,000 in my Ford Courier. Its had a head rebuild along the way though.
  18. Not really as you only pay tax on the interest you earn which is additional income, but with petrol they add excise tax to the price, then they take the total and add GST so you pay GST on your tax. If they only charged GST on the base price maybe??? I get your point though. Cigarettes would be a better analogy, but then I don't smoke so I don't care.
  19. Love that track. WHen is the album going to be available?
  20. Got one off using a universal remover. Key number was what I had vaguely thought it was. New key ordered. Problem solved. Thanks to all. And yes it is the puzzle nut type, not the old type with the key.
  21. Nevermind. Keys are $13.50 from BMW New lock sets are $48.20 from BMW Thanks to Glenn for your info. Thanks Ben from JC for pricing So now I just need to work out what adapter I need, or how to get them off.
  22. Lost the key. Anyone know where to get a replacement. My local service agent wants to sell me a whole new set. Pretty sure I can remember what number key I need if anyone knows where to get replacements. Thanks.
  23. How much were your ball joints? BTW the bentley says whack the inner joint out with a soft faced hammer (presumably so you don't bend the subframe as it is softer than the cast strut mount point you hit for the outer joint). As you know there is no room to swing a hammer in there, so I got a long peice of timber and whacked it from the engine bay - came out easy enough.
