Best of luck Chris. I <3 this car. Especially after having been in it. Is absolutely mint and performance is amazing.

Sweet. I'm on holiday until the 25th. If it's after then, stop in. If you're in the e30 we could do a quick tech-II 4-door shoot (If I've had a chance to wash mine by then).

Top effort. Good luck.

Nice work Heath. Slight admission - I just worked out Andrea's plate. Maybe it was seeing it on a toilet???? Looks like an awesome day. Will have to book it for next year. Might get best sounding under 2.5 (2494cc)? Sux that you have to wash the 307 - or did you make Andrea do it?

I wouldn't buy it sight unseen. It' not that cheap if maintenance is a bit behind. My car was the same as this when i bought it (SA 325i in auto), so yes tech-II can be fitted, but they are extraordinarily difficult to find in 4-door, and take some time and care to fit. Not "hard" though, but does involve drilling holes in the body (which then need to be rust-proofed) for clips. I only paid similar money for mine a few years back, and it needed maintenance (a wheel bearing, engine mounts, gearbox was tired, cambelt, and other usual fluids etc). It is well priced if it does't require anything or much. The SA cars are great, but often suffer a little more from rust for some reason (mine is fairly good, but I've seen some bad ones). You need to look at the car in person for rust - around the boot (including under the seal), behind and around the tail lights, in the bottom of the battery tray and same place on the other side of the boot, around the fuel filler, bottom of all door, behind the window trims (especially the trim behind the rear doors on the body), the sills, the floor (under the carpet if you can!), around the sunroof if it has one, and behind the fuse box in the engine bay. I'll bet you a beer the adjustable headlights don't work (I've only heard of one car on here that had them working). Everything else should work.

I'm really surprised about how good 15" rims look considering it's tech-II. Normally 16" or 17" is required! I'd hit a set. Shame I missed you. If you were watching racing early December, it must have been Wednesday racing? In which case I was out training on our new Coastguard boat. Would have been awesome to catch up. Next time you're up that way drop me a PM. BS members are always welcome at my place for a beer and a chat.

Some really good advice there Glenn and Graham (Apex). Which more or less rules out the e60/5 but not the e39. No idea about e55, but I imagine it might not be cheap, hence the question.

Are they your old wheels James? Loving the colour.

Haha. Def don't want an e34. Even though I was loving being taxied around in Ollies on Friday night.

I'm trying to get my boss to pony up with a new company car for me. If he doesn't, then I'm looking to buy a facelift e39 540i m-sport around May. I was just doing a bit of a trademe browse and realised that the Mercededs w210 e55 AMG is about the same price with a tad more grunt. Anyone able to comment on these cars? Comfort levels, useability, standard of materials, repair and maintenance problems and costs, performance, and so on. The plan is to get a more or less unmodified car less than 10 years old with a bit more space than the e30, that the missus can daily, and will handle long trips with ease. I find that now the e30 is such a raucous weapon, I need something a bit quieter and modern for some things, and something a bit more practical. Want to be able to tow a small trailer, but still have enough grunt (so looking mainly at v8's). Needs to be super comfortable with a really nice interior, and big enough to throw a bit of gear in the back. Also looking at e60's and e65's but I suspect that the ones in my price bracket will be under-powered. At this stage looking to spend less than $25k. So if you can suggest anything else I should be looking at, that's be good too.

Think we saw you today. Turning from Sunnybrae into Porana? Looked awesome!

That's sweet. Where'd you get it?

f**king hell that was possibly the most epic night of my life. Got home at 8.30 this morning. Started at 2pm yesterday so that's 18.5 hours. Plus went out till 4.30 the night before, so doing pretty well. Sorry we couldn't hang about Spargo, but had to stick with the boy. Mermaids was pretty good too even though they've pulled the tank since the last time i was there (ages ago). My sister met us there with some bloke she'd picked up. Good times. We only got refused entry at 3 places, and booted out of 2, so pretty good really. One eviction was for one of the other guys, and the other for doing body shots on the bar after we'd been told we couldn't. Met up with the hens party at Provedor, so had to get out of there fast. Was about 50 stag and hens do's in AKLD last night. That time of year I guess. Some of the poor stags were getting totally f**ked over. Also note, stag groups and hens = good times. We sent the stag home about 5.30am with some of the flagging staggers. Only the hard core made it till 8.30. Managed to do all his challenges, plus one of the girls he kissed only did it on the condition she could add #11 - Get a girl to do body shots off you on the bar. It got us booted from the bar as we'd been told we couldn't do it, but that's never stopped me before. Besides, I had a chat to the bouncer and he was a real GC about it, said we had to leave, but let us take our time and no agro.

Got pink tutu fairy wings and wand and tiara. Challenges: 1/ obtain a girls bra and wear it. 2/ kiss the ugliest woman at the bar (groups choice). Kiss the hottest girl at the bar (his choice). 3/ Get photographed with a cop. 4/ Find a girl with an interesting piercing and get a picture of it. 5/ Go into the girls and buy tampons. 6/ Be photographed with 4 blokes with bare chests. 7/ Get 3 girls ph numbers written on you. 8/ Sing a song at the bar as loud as you can. 9/ Order a pink lemonade from the bar in a gay voice. 10/ Wear your tutu, fairy wings, wand and tiara all night. Leaving to kick off in half an hour. Should be good.

Good start. Cheers. Dress idea looking fairly likely. Can borrow a pink one his size.

It's my brother's stag night on Saturday. I'm the best man so I've been in charge of organising it. Everything is planned (venues, transport, food, etc) except I want around 10-15 challenges for him to do. Please keep it fairly clean. Also any amusing ideas of stuff we should do are also welcome. Don't bother suggesting strippers or whores. I'm WAY ahead of you.

Heaps of BMWs in this film including a red tech-II e30 doing doughnuts on a dirt skid pad. Hot e38 featured alot, red F/L e30 getting car-jacked, and a few others. There are films with more BMWs and better driving action (Transporter for one), but this was unexpected. Didn't hire the film for the car scenes, but was a nice surprise. Also watched an old episode of Fresh Prince of Bel-air with a beige F/L e30 cabbie. Would have been fairly new when that was filmed!

I'll pull it out and check the plug on the back of the cluster and give it a gentle once over with an air gun. Then I'll try a spare one I've got lying around. Thanks turboprop - you confirmed my thoughts about the sensor. I'll let you know how I get on.
-
The tacho on my e30 started to play up today. Moves jerkily through the revs and sometimes appears "caught" at certain revs. Battery in the cluster is only 1-2 years old. Dodgy tacho or sensor or what? Cheers.
-
That's a goodie Brian. I'm going to borrow it.
-
+1 on Leno. Never got around to hiring Love the Beast tho.
-
I love the reflection of the buildings in the paintwork. Some talented photographers on here.

Back on topic guys. We've all seen your cars before. This is the spotted thread, not the "excuse to post random pics of my own car" thread.
