  1. There's one on BMW the facebook page someone from here setup a few weeks ago, and I am working on some footage, but don't have enough yet. That's a fairly sweet video mark - why doesn't nz have a badass track in the middle of nowhere with no barriers or anything. Great idea.
  2. nice. You can get away with it looking like hat when it goes like that. This is not as loud or wildly styled, but the driving flare more than makes up for it. But this is my favourite hillclimb vid:

    New work car!

I like the plate. Not a bad score for a govt issue.
  4. Shane Speight, Whangarei. Helpful, and very fair. A+++ would trade again.
  5. Saw this on Friday night and again today. soo fricken clean. Sounds good too. Heath should have some wicked stills on the way, and I got a tiny bit of video/audio in the gateway tunnels this morning, so once I figure out how to format it I'll post it up.
  6. Either will be fine as long as it has no leaks and is of resilient material such as silicone hoses designed for the purpose. If silicone is ok for boosted systems, it's ok for you.
  7. Welcome! Who did you buy it off if you don't mind me asking?

    HB Ryan!

Seems like your 21st was last month. time flys. HB again (got the right day this time).
  9. When bidding against mates, or even other bsport members there are times when its worth standing back so at least one of you gets a good deal. Plus the other bidder may remember in the future and repay the favour. Other times being ruthless is the only way. Depends on the item and the identity of the other bidder.
  10. I'm getting confused by these m5's in non-m5-shells. This was the situation with that M5 I drove Simon. I don't remember that one having been to Gavin,s but Ernst had done the conversion. Either way, you know how I thought that went. So presumably this is a different car.
  11. OK, I'm so booking in for that next time I'm in Chch for work. Badass.
  12. Lets hope they put the N54b30 in the Z2 eventually. Oh yeah!

    Tank

Do the laps down town. Some arsewipe gets lippy, point that cannon at his POS ricer and watch him f**k off. I can see you getting pulled over a fair bit in the city though.... I want. Anyone estimate its value?

    TradeMe

Have removed posts that aren't usernames as most of them were 4 years old anyway. Hope noone is offended. Just makes the thread easier to follow.
  16. Simon - I had it bookmarked and never deleted it. Bellicose - yeah I know, but I know almost all of those in that thread and most are still OK. Feel free to add to it and I'll sticky and clean up the chat.
  17. Yay!!! My Ford Courier has been to the moon! Now I just have to drive it for another 12 years to get it back.
  18. Nice idea for a thread. It already exists. Here.
  19. Aw shucks, you're making me blush! Seriously though, that's really big of you to say Em. Good stuff!
  20. Bloody hell! Surely that should mean all tickets issued by the cameras be waived until the issue is sorted out. If the speed is doubled with a large vehicle, what's to say a smaller vehicle's speed hasn't been increased by say 10-20%???? Not to mention the tickets they havn't waived to date for buses doing say 30km/h in a 50 that makes it look like they were doing 60, and thus seem like a legitimate ticket.

    E30 Kidney Grill

Really easy. 1/ Open bonnet. 2/ remove 2x clips from top of kidney grill. 3/ Close bonnet, but don't latch it down. 4/ remove kidney grill. The grills on either side of the kidney are removed in the same way, but they also have 2x small phillips screws each on the bottom as well as the 2 clips at the top.
  22. Here's the thread with my little rental property write-up from 18 months ago. You can change the interest rate to 6-7.5% depending on your fixed term, and most banks will now want 20% deposit, but the numbers still stack up. If you have enough money to spread it out, diversify - it's a no-brainer. Unfortunately, most small time investors (like myself) usually don't have enough to really make diversification work well, unfortunately we can't afford not to diversify either. I remember when I was 16 and $10k was considered a decent amount to kickstart an investment and allow diversification - now its closer to $50k. That said, there are plenty of reputable financial products out there that allow diversification with lower investment amounts that also offer a range of risk profiles and provide semi-decent returns with fairly low fees. But you'll have to do your own research. Nice little prophetic post of mine from 18months ago:
  23. If you are looking at buying your own home do a search and find my write up from a year or two back. If you are only able to afford to buy entry-level, DO NOT buy your own home. Buy a rental investment in an area with good rental and capital returns (but maybe not where you'd necessarily live yourself). The incoming rent should be close to your own rent, so that equals out. The cost of the mortgage and so on should be much the same (maybe slightly higher maintenance plus additional costs for advertising for a tenant and lost rent), but the interest on your mortgage, and all those expenses are tax deductible (under the current laws), but not on your own home. Getting a third of your interest, rates, insurance, and maintenance back every year definitely helps! (minus the tax payable on the rental income of course). In my opinion, until you can afford the sort of house you plan to live in for a long time and settle with family, it makes much more financial sense to rent and buy a rental home. Especially whilst rents are fairly low and the housing market is also lower than it has been recently. The other option is commercial property which is also really good, although with the current economic climate, the sort of place you can probably afford may have trouble finding tenants as small companies go out of business and there is a glut of properties (I am experiencing this on my commercial, but my residential is cranking along, and I just reinvested in it by making improvements and increasing the rent accordingly while building costs are down and interest rates are low) That said, I agree with the philosophy of not all your eggs in one basket, so I agree with all of the other suggestions above. i personally also have shares, and even have some money going into kiwisaver for the kickbacks. Next on the list is some overseas shares maybe in the form of an index-based fund, and maybe some currency, commodities, or a venture such as Ollie describes. Although I'm holding on until I decide what I'm doing work-wise as I don't want to tie up cash I may need.
  24. Nice comparison there James. It would be pref/l for the non-m3's though being 87. Jammy - it is really hard to say what maintenance it will need. The thing is, if it IS a real m3, the owner is likely to have some idea of its worth, in which case there must be something very wrong with it. m3's go for $15-25k for tired ones, and $45-60,000 for good ones. Take a look at Old Skool's thread about his 1987 m3 from japan and you'll see the sort of problems you may encounter. If its a standard e30 with a m3 badge, then you need to compare it to others at the same price. At that price for a pre f/l, I'd be either wanting something very mint including mechanicals, or something in need of a little amount of tlc, but a bit special (like 325i manual with body kit). BTW as Simon below states, this is all $NZ. As it appears you may be from Canada, may I suggest you have a talk to the guys over at maXBimmer.com as they are mostly based in Canada.
