Looking really good I notice its getting cold over that side of the world ! Would love to know when this product is availible. This is a very very good alternative to getting the expensive intravee II setup.

Badass dude ... looking real nice. And agree ... chuck in Andys 3.1 stroker conversion and it will be one hell of a road car!

Nerdy light and dial test I was mucking around with. Useless fun.

Im not sure, I only had the horrible rubber standard steering wheel. I have since found out mine is a X5 4.8is steering wheel not the 5 series MS steering wheel as it was sold to me. I fine it a lot more elegant than the MSport MF ones anyways. Im not sure the 3 series came with that on the MF steering. Could be a 5 series option only ?

Just to clarify, I did mine by just taking the passenger front and rear seats out and lifting the carpet on the left side. So no need to remove the carpet totally. You will need to remove the center console however. Youll also need the climate/aircon control unit / center console bezel relocation kit if you dont already have it. edit: here is a nice retrofit kit here for not too much $$$ http://translate.googleusercontent.com/tra...xjwHh7NaMi-GpIg

I'm all for tougher laws on the dicks that rip up and down our area and do burnouts late at night around the neighbourhood. Are any of these laws subject to going through the courts ? Is there any contingency for someone who gets done by some pissed off cop when infact they have just probably done a skid out of a car park because they might have been just a little too heavy on the foot (none boy racer / cruising) incedent. Or is just for hard core re-offenders?

Eyelids are too 2004 these days. All about putting suttle details to make a cleaner look these days. call it a back lash from the fast and furious days. go for a splitter instead.

Glenn, Went for one grade (delrin) under solid mount to solve that problem, its going to be a fairly highly strung ride but its not my daily so it should be fine. I was thinking about solid mounting the diff however I wont be doing that till I get the cage in at a later date and tie it to the diff mount. Tony, give me a yell if you need to measure it up at all for your project before I put it in the car.
-
thats the plan, The car will be a hard core road car to start with till I can save the needed $$$ to do what I want to it race car wise. Got a wedding to pay for too in the mean time hehe

Just a note guys .. that caged e30 isnt mine! just showing you the shifter installed. Will measure it after band practice ... those of you going to R&V .. got a killer ending to the set planned Went with this over the UUC shifter as its far cheaper and more of a true replica of the proper bmw MS DTM shifter. + it has better reviews than the UUC option. Its not really for the nice quite road car as with the solid mounting its going to be noisy (ish) The feel of the ball race bearing is flawless

They can come in GM or ZF variants. The earlier 02 backwards suffered from drum failure (loss of reverese gear). There is a revised replacement part for this that isn't too expensive (relativly speaking) however you only normally find out if it ruptures which then requires a full gearbox rebuild. This is due to the drum being made faily thin. It totally depends on how the person treated the car and if they waited for the gearbox to engage before putting their foot on the gas. Next that goes wrong with them which is also seen in the e39 is worn valve guide (this part) This causes the gearbox to thump between gears under certain conditions. This again can happen when ever and is totally on how the car has been treated. All in all they are fine, but if they are abused then they will cause problems like all gear boxes. Anything else that may go wrong with them is just normal auto gear box problems (torque converter, piston, soliniods etc etc) I wouldnt worry too much, Getting it plugged in and diagnosed (EGS) will be a good start, this is covered in the BMW pre-purchase inspection (not AA) you should get before purchase . And take a few for a drive to get an idea. They are generally one of the smoothest gearboxes around and are fantastic as far as auto gearboxes go. I can't speak for the GM version and to tell you truth I haven't heard of them in NZ (im not a mechanic so I dont get to see them)
