  1. Cool! i really like Volvos, i think im a bit wierd. Strangley enough, i found the dealership to be the cheapest place for gaskets and stuff for my 940 Turbo i used to have. they could beat the independent places in price, and also about 25 minutes from my house at the time. certainly not like BMW prices. but then every model is probably different
  2. havent read all the other posts but in relation to E30 specifically NZ New obviously first, dont know why, theres just something about that tag. typically lower spec than UK and SA cars, but usually have better history SA woud be next. extra rust proofing from the factory, and typically higher spec than other ones with leather seats OBC metal air box long range fuel tank etc. UK cars can be okay, ive owned several UK E30s, and my current E34 Touring is a UK import. mind you, they have all been imported into NZ within 3 years of being sold new. My opinion on the UK rust issue is largely a case of coincidence. Just as many NZ New or Jap ones rust out. pretty rare to find a rusty SA car though, as i say they had extra rust proofing from the factory because of the climate. Jap cars avoid like the plauge. the wiring is substandard quality in them, and their odos are almost always useful for telling the interval between oil changes and thats it. Plus they have map writing everywhere, small number plate surrounds, and are typically less looked after than the alternatives. When looking for rust on these cars, the three most common spots to look are around the rear taillights (most E30s will still be on their original taillight gaskets which are long since perished), sunroof panel and assay if fitted, and on the firewall particularly around the battery tray. not uncommon to find around the front windscreen/scuttle covers either. if theres nothing in these places its pretty likely to be 100% rust free. Ive had 12 E30s now, with at least two from each country, so i hope im pretty rounded in my opinion!
  3. i have a 6 or so pairs, cant remember if they are E30 or E34, will have a look tomorrow.
  4. PM user JKSE can do BMW specific pre-purchase inspections if your worried about it.
  5. since you asked: if it was mine id go option 2, but id like to see option 1 done so thats my vote.
  6. no need to PM, will post up, looking at 400-700 depending on condition, colour and if they have the flatcaps or the hex caps may go more if there are decent tyres on there too
  7. Can be replicas thats okay. curbing etc okay too i got a guy that can sort that. was a set on trade me last week but it got pulled within a day or so while i was uhmming and aahing or if you have something else you think i might like, Hartge or Alpina's? don't want AC Schnitzers for the E30 tho. No BBS rims The E30 will fail on at least two tyres when it goes in next week, so probably make sence to buy new tyres in 15" or 16" instead of E30 14", they are cheaper too thanks
  8. only half read this article, not sure if its Toyota themselves or some aftermarket crowd, but this might just become the definitive turbocharger versus supercharger battle GT 86 Supercharged
  9. i dont see any other logical solution
  10. oh yeah, now you mention it, my Volvo 940 Turbo wagon i used to have had a Mitsubishi turbo, not sure about intercooler etc though
  11. copy and paste from my bimmerfest.com thread ----- well, ive had the car for three or four weeks in 100% drivable condition, and all road legal. ony have four issues to sort out on the car now!: - have hooked up the stereo and somehow in the process stopped the window wipers from going. - im considering getting some errors flashed out of the body control module, such as the self leveling suspension and rear fog lights, as those errors keep coming up because they are non existent. i dont even know if this is possible however, this is last on the priority list. - I don't get front fog error, presumably because the E32 the engine/wiring/modules came from didnt have front foglights. The car does have them however, and i need to run wires for those. technically, the car shouldnt have passed a warrant without them going, but never mind. - car has also developed an oil leak. not all the gaskets were replaced in the process as they are several hundred a piece for this motor so i thought id take the gamble anyways, here is some photos for you all! im trailing new host settings on Photobucket, so let me know if you cannot see them and ill change. they are also reasonably high resolution so may take a while to load. They are taken with my iPhone 4S as that is currently the best camera i have. im not a photography guy and nor do i claim to be. There is also a video i made on the same day as doing these photos, and also some clips of it at the track day i did in this car a few weeks back. The car looks slow in that videos and it is. I either do not believe in stupid speeds on public roads, or im not stupid enough to film and post on YouTube, you decide Lets get into it: A few of my E34 and my E30 Daily at my work Hood on.... and hood off  :bigpimp: :roundel:
  12. pretty sure you need to certify the removal of seats, my econovan for work has a cert and the only mod listed is the removal of rear seats. no M52 conversion yet
  13. i read that too. but then they said that about the M1/135M/1M whatever its called too. would have thought this 86BRZ and that would be totally different cars in real life. whatever, id still rock an 86. ill have to put the word around my family to get a collection jar going for my 21st. one can dream edit: yep i realise that. but M60B40 range rovers have land rover badges not BMW ones, fords and mazdas have the right ones on. for a 50k car, i would have thought detail like that would have been done properly.
  14. the engine cover says Subaru??????
  15. congrats again! assume it all went well! this looks like you now http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/show...m-BMW!!!
  16. if you found that one humourous like i did, click the user thing there are heaps of good ones they made. pod filter one is okay too
  17. haha worth the watch. we've all had a mate with one of these Charades, learn how to make REAL POWER
  18. in my opinion (others may vary) waste of time even trying to make it quicker other than i assume its manual already? youd be better off throwing money at making it handle good. E30s are one of those cars you don't need a lot of money or power and they are a great fun, all while this side of the speed limit.
  19. not a BM, but saw a Honda NSX today on cuba street (Petone), gold BBS somethings and old man driver! i never realised how wide and long they are! ive only ever seen in photos before, look to be bigger than an E31!?
  20. bellicose made a good thread on here a while back about making them clear again, you could search for that. or are yours cracked?
  21. i think i have a handful at work, ill check tuesday too.
