    WOF Laws

The kilometres idea id agree with to a point, i would be lucky to travel 5,000kms in my own cars in a year. Insurance is the same. but the trouble is that 1/ on all new cars the odo is digital and turns off when the key is out the ignition. hell, ost of my E34s have had dead LCDs too. very hard to police that when parked up at shopping centers etc which is when the majority of no WOF infringments are given. 2/ in a car crash, you cant rely on the electrics to always work, so again, how do you proove if the car is road worthy. in any case, if i have a car sitting in my drive that doesn't get used at all, the tyres and shocks and springs are still deteriorating, 6 months is good. keep the current system. I would like to see milage insurance though, insurance risk is DIRECTLY related to the distance traveled. if a company did that i would definately change to them. obviously this is beyond the scope of this argument though
  2. between small and medium case? they both are cross compatible (just have to use the built in adjustment color on the driveshaft itself to shorten it. But the small case has four mountaing bolts on top as will as the hanger, the medium has six or 8 to do (been a few years since ive done a swap)
  3. Wasnt knocking it! just wouldnt be my choice of vehicle at this stage of my life. I am quite partial to Land Rovers! My V12 is like that, lots of power and you pay for it, good for using some times and i could afford to daily it, but then again a ticky 1600cc wakes you up better than coffee in the morning
  4. it sounds to me like youve already made up your mind
  5. would be worth getting in with your next shipment. do it before i do.
  6. can do in wellington. this is a mates listing http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=522423026
  7. You got it pal! except its true for the E34
  8. the E34 section is very much the same as the E39 section then. The E30 section is very laid back though, and there is our own off topic thread. I go into the E36 and E46 sections from time to time, but thats it. i dont generally do the global stuff like on bimmersport, they are thousands of posts a day there. reading the political section is often a laugh though, americans thinking they actually have a choice of outcomes depending whichever way they vote is priceless
  9. oh well thats just me. but i dont like the size, parking is a bitch, can squeeze through traffic etc, and unnessesary fuel consumption. others will disagree and say a 5 is better BECAUSE its bigger etc, thats why some of us daily MX5s and some daily Range Rovers.
  10. hell no! I have a company car for that most of the time, either an Econovan or a Mondeo (ssh keep that quiet!), or the E30 if i dont have it on that day. The current E34 is way too thirsty, and work is only 5-10 km from my house, so would be always running cold. I only daily 5 series's if i have brought one to do up and sell and i dislike the experience lol.
  11. did you plug the AFM back in? or did you accidentally knock it? not really any other electronics in that area you could have knocked. Is it the actual word inspection illuminated on the dash, or the coloured bars? the word can come up at any time if there is an engine fault. My E30 316i did this a few weeks back when the RPM gauge was going mental, but thats all sorted now.
  12. as above, unless you need the space etc. i know i couldnt daily a 5 series
  13. im guessing searching for a Vag forum comes up with all sorts of interesting hits? try VWVortex, im not a member etc, but it seems to be mentioned a lot on bimmerfest (my other main forum not bimmersport), a lot of those guys daily VWs so gets mentioned a lot.
  14. I dont really know what im talking about, but wouldn't it be logical to do the cam first, even if gains are less, and then get it remapped to the new cam when your kid graduates university?
  15. worth a shot. My XYZs were imported specially from the states, so they obviously do special orders, give Speedtech in Tauraunga a try, they are great to deal with.
  16. XYZ, BC Gold, plenty of local options
  17. yep Jessica knows me though so cant get a price and then show card etc. $70 a piece is high, i guess ill have to face up to it. Its not like they are model specific though which annoys me except for the E30 boot one.
  18. unfortunately im the only one in my family with a BMW! maybe i should find a someone in my street with a BM and do that where is this if you dont mind saying? JG were over twice that for one, and at that price, ill stick with my current less than perfect ones
  19. Need some roundels for both front and back of the E30 and the E34. Jeff Grays prices have skyrocketed on these, is there anyone that has new old stock or similar? if second hand (JKSE, Ray etc), they would have to be immaculate. after experiences with TradeMe, i wont be buying from there again, the last set are all faded and crap after just 18 months.
  20. yes but you have no idea what an M325i is obviously. you say its suspect blown clutch and then you say its a new clutch that has hardly been run in, what is it? $2k is very expencive for an E30 these days, especially for one with a blown diff and being sold by a user with the word dirty in his name.
  21. the 520i is missing a LOT of parts that the 525i and above have, so i would definitely agree with you on this.
  22. you should be able to stop it when its cold - this is so the car can heat up you shouldn't be able to stop is when hot - this is to keep the car cool
  23. Plus one. on a normal month i do about 20-25GB, if im in a downloading spree, 35GB max. just call me old school
  24. needs more low and camber g
