Got to feel for Whincup though!

Wouldn't it be illegal having only 1 xenon & 1 halogen? Pretty sure xenons use a different reflector pattern, hence why it's illegal to fit xenons to normal headlamps??

Nice work! Better than nothing -
Weird, all I'm seeing is footage from the 70s :s

Agreed mate, pukekohe in particular. I have a suspicion that it might not quite become the satellite to suckland that sone believe, more a halfway hub with a focus on light industry rather than white collar. Trouble is, the flow on effects of pukes expansion are being seen further west....... brother in law just paid $400k ish for a pretty unremarkable place on a cross leaseable 1/4 acre that sold for less than $275k not quite two years ago. It's not just a 'desireable' central city problem, it's the Auckland region in general. I really hate to think what's happening in Christchurch at the moment!!

If you really can't be f**ked finishing something you've started $500 is pretty cheap given the amount of work his crew will put into it. It took me 18 hours doing an E36 conversion in the shed at home on my own, with half the tools I needed and the car barely high enough off the ground to drag the trans out from underneath. Granted I'd never done one before and asked a heap of dumb questions but I got it done. Learned a shitload of useful stuff along the way too. Versus 4-5 hours of Rays time, wealth of knowledge & experience, all the right tools, hoists, and all the bits you're probably missing / lost / didn't know you needed makes 500 measly bucks sound like a bloody bargain. Or take it to some shitbox dodgy local garage that does $25 WoFs and take your chances with a $200 deal done by 'mechanics' that have probably never even sat in a frikkin E30, let alone know what to do with one in pieces. Man up and finish the job yourself, or quit whining about what is actually a cheap deal.

Bollocks. What it does stifle is commuting times. Given the large amount of export that still routes through Ports of Auckland combined with Kiwis ingrained aversion to driving anything more than 30 minutes at a time there's no other place for the biggest little city in UnZud to be than where it is. Exporting to global markets ( though I struggle with the logic) is still where we make most of our dough. What is stifling growth is the navel gazing attitude of our local town planners...... Dannemora / Botany / Flat Bush are the prime examples. Farms bought up by land bankers with an eye for an easy killing, held bare for 20 odd years then subdivided and sold at massive markups. 450m3 sections now selling for well over $350,000!!!!!!! Which in turn have 5 bedroom 190 m3 houses squished on to them(selling for $700k+ I might add), further compounding the ultra density of the 'new' Orklund. Had our civic leaders actually listened to what they were being told 20-25 years ago the land would have been made available years ago, thereby staving off the sudden squeeze on land supply. Cost of building hasn't really changed much in real terms for years.....section prices have though. Any old way you look at it, it's a bad time to be on a single blue collar income and want to buy a home to raise your family in.

Eiibach / Bilstein part number help
Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Righto, so at the end of the internets I discovered this - http://p142673.mittwaldserver.info/b12/se58118.pdf However my knowledge of German is practically non existent. Far as I can tell it seems the front coils are rated to a 900kg load, rears to 1070kg. Seems to indicate the springs I have were designed for the 2.5 diesel. If anyone can translate the pdf for me that would be awesome, google won't do it unless it's a webpage VERY relieved to discover they are the correct coils for the 325, was getting worried I had 4 cylinder ones fitted -
T-stars look better in reverse IMO. What ratio did the auto ti's use? A 3.64 E30 325i manual diff ought to be fairly good for the track, means you can run with the larger medium case axles too This looks like fun!
-
If it makes you feel any better I did the same on my 325i after breaking my third one of the temp probe thingies. Nearly 2 years ago and no ill effects. Up to you though If you do go ahead with replacing it I advise buying new rather than used. The plastics suffer the same fate as all other cooling bits, goes brittle and craps out - two of the three on my car came apart by themselves.

Can just use one hose to return directly to the manifold. Is a cold weather climate thing to prevent condensation from icing up in the mani apparently

Surely someone in Nz has a reasonable msport bumper that can be repainted?? That's bloody ludicrous!
-
Removed bleeding bilsteins and replaced with shiny new konis. Marvelled at how nicely it corners again. Had a beer and felt good about myself
-
Did you do anything to address the compression when you installed the 3l crank? Seems to go down to around 9.1:1 in the M50 blocks. 140hp atw is roughly what an M50B25 delivers. Have you had the DME remapped?
-
Just double check the geddes quote is for using stainless. Every car post E36 I've ever been under has used the good stuff, would make sense to do the same on yours too

Due to an impending change in personal circumstances, I'd like some advice on market value for a few goodies I have in the shed. M54B30 block, rotating assembly and head. Head currently off block due to suspected bent exhaust valves. Pistons show no signs of striking the valves however. Valves have been swapped for a spare set from an M52B28TU but not yet lapped in. 188mm LSD center. Currently in diff but can be removed on a weekends notice M50B25 NV head M50B25 intake manifold E39 MID display unit E36 medium case 3.73 open diff Possibly also a universal fit Remus backbox. 2.5" in, twin 100mm tips. Still in box S50B32 headers that are a bit bent up but definitely repairable Obviously price is dependent on condition but a rough idea will do for now. Thanks

Worlds greatest automotive oxymoron. M3 convertible. Next time you hear someone accusing Germans of having no sense humour, show them a photo of one of these Having said that, I'd still very happily own one!!

Eiibach / Bilstein part number help
Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Uhhmmmm, probably ought to have been more specific. The struts and springs in question are in my E36, bought from a member here who wrecked them from another E36. Still don't know if the front springs are the correct weight grade for my car as they came out of a dismantled car with no history. Thanks for the help Dave, but I can assure you the springs are definitely not related to a merc from the 60s -

Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Sorry dude, getting flustered trying to work out if the front springs are 4cyl or 6cyl items. Rang a suspension tech in Auckland that specialises in eibach and he basically said unless I luck out and find a catalogue with these exact springs there's no way of knowing if the ones I have are right for my old hack. Not sure what to do next really. Get new shocks and hope I don't wear them out with too soft springs or shell out for new coils when the shocks are replaced -

Eiibach / Bilstein part number help
Ahmedsinc replied to Ahmedsinc's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
Right, so it appears Bilstein did a 'B12 Prokit" setup with struts n' springs to suit a whole raft of cars. Seems to match what I have on the car now. Unsurprisingly there are different kits to suit 4 & 6 cyl, however I'm no bloody closer to finding out what I've got on the car. Christ this is getting frustrating!! -

Surely someone knows something?? Please?? -
Hi guys, have been searching for hours but am having no luck in finding any information on these springs. Fronts have Z108A00 Rears have Z056A00 Were bought secondhand on the understanding they are 6-cyl items, would like to confirm. Thanks!
