For those who buy parts from the USA
Ahmedsinc replied to BreakMyWindow's topic in General Discussion
Looks great, bummer there's no support for us Mac users -
Sounds like a viable idea Andy. It's natural that the owners have found other things to occupy their time, more so when they have their businesses to run. The efforts of all the moderators and professional contributors (of which there are an impressive number given the reasonably small active membership) are highly appreciated. Would be effing fantastic to see the forum return to it's roots of being a knowledge base as opposed to the dribble being vomited up over on Fartbook I mean, you'd hardly go to a pizza shop when wanting an explanation on the finer points of ancient Roman architecture, would you?

540i or nothing. The 3.0 & 3.5 V8s make barely more power than a bloody 325i in a chassis that weighs more. Same or worse fuel economy as a 4/4.4 with zero fun. As long as the rebuild checks out that E39 looks a steal. As Qube said, less than a dollar per cc, or not quite $15 per cubic inch it's a hell of a lot of car for less than a same year corolla. Do it!

Big thumbs up to Larry Murphy Panelbeaters out here in the 'uku. Took 6 minutes to reglue the mirror and refused payment. KIckass!

Ahhhhh, makes perfect sense

Quite possibly New Zealands finest paddock basher! Win!

That's a sharp price on the RD kit, bummed I don't have the dough Didn't you only just get your hands on that LTW wing?? All that time searching and sold so soon??
-
Give it a while til things settle down with your little one then rip into it In all seriousness, welcome aboard. Plenty of guys here that know their stuff with E30s, M50/52, M60, even S50 conversions all done and well documented too.

I'm one of Shane's mates. Your dad helped me arrange a shoot for my mates stag do in a farm up the peninsula a couple years back, think I recall you hooning around on the quad while we blew sh*t up Save all the effing around and shove the XR6 turbo motor that your old mans had sitting around into it you'll probably twist the chassis in half with the torque but hell it'd be fun!!

Ummm, knoll??

Think the $500 is just the inspection cost, rego is on top. Have heard the average is about $700 but that includes licensing. You're not Grants son are you?
-
As you've had the inspection done you're legally obliged to rectify all issues on the check before a warrant can be issued, AFAIK. In future I wouldn't take it back there, the company has had a lousy reputation for years now, seems the general public are only just waking up to this fact because the TV tells them to think about it. Headlights should not be able to go outside of the specced range, irrelevant of electric range adjusters. In future I'd take my car to a testing facility that actually knows what they're doing, as opposed to vtnz and their kind. Good luck!

Will nip down and see the windscreen guys on Monday, thanks lads

So my rear vision mirror fell off this afternoon while loading some banana boxes in the car - which adhesive can I use that won't stuff up my screen / melt the plastic mounting surface? Thanks!
-
Jeez mate, you're really not having much luck with the M62 are you!?!?
-
Have also found that the pulley bolts bind against the timing chain cover when fitting to an M54, not sure if you'll have the same problem but make sure you check that it will turn by hand BEFORE you put the belts back on and turn it over on the starter motor. Otherwise you'll have a munched timing cover and oil seal to contend with too

Want! Any E39 parts you're looking for as a part trade deal? Still have the door cards if needed

UPDATE IDLE HUNTING -Test a faulty TPS(sorted see post 15)
Ahmedsinc replied to Jibs05's topic in Maintenance
Ditto mate, have had a weird 'flat spot' between 2700-4000 rpm for a while but hadn't thought of TPS til I saw your thread. Slightly surging idle sometimes too. I cbf testing the one in the car now, but I do have one from an NV motor that I can throw at it and see (hope) it fixes the problem -
Friendly valet washed my car including the amp
Ahmedsinc replied to jcerecke's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Pretty sure I've got the standard amp from the E39 I parted somewhere in the shed if you're looking for an interim fix Also, sounds like you might have similar water ingress problems to my E39 wagon. Check the tail light seals and pull the bungs out of the wheel well to let any sitting water out before it nukes your airbag compressor. Sounds like a nice setup planned dude! -
I recently learned M52 TDC is something like 8 teeth left, M50 TDC is 14 teeth right on crank pulley. (Cheers for the heads up Dave!!) MIght or might no help, but given you're running a frankenengine it could be worth looking into

Some stuff gone, other bits added. Buy my stuff!

Just further to this, does anyone know if the TPS is the same on Vanos and non - Vanos M50B25? Wondering if this might be the unicorn I've been searching for.......... -
Oh crap. When's this supposed to happen? Did hear he was bombing at NASCAR but that was a while back

Definitely keen to find out if it will work for E39. Looking at doing the same on the wagon if possible
