  1. Assuming yours is a jap import (expansion tank on drivers side) it'll drop straight in. The one I bought had the mounting holes predrilled for the trans oil cooler, you just need to swap the screw tabs, rubber grommets etc across from your old radiator. If it was NZ new or a UK import with the integrated trans cooler this one won't work unfortunately. Otherwise it seems to be good quality, I assume they're locally made but I couldn't say for sure. Let me know how you get on
  2. Pretty sure the prices are listed on the webpage but from memory it was about $300. Not uber cheap but for me it gives better peace of mind than replacing it with another plastic tank item that will fail at some point Happy hunting!
  3. Finally fitted these (holidays are great!) and had an alignment done Have noticed a shimmy above 85kph, not enough to visibly wobble the steering wheel but enough to be massively annoying. Any other causes besides wheel balance and / or bent wheels? Fitted a set of style 159s a few months back, am wondering if the state of the old control arm bushes masked the wobble??
  4. I sourced a new all alloy radiator through Redline performance in Penrose, was about $50 cheaper than a factory spec replacement, if you don't have an issue with using non BMW branded bits. Linky Have been using one in my car for almost two years, no known problems. Would suggest doing the water pump, thermostat & thermostat housing as a precaution if you haven't already
  5. Definitive build date can be found using BMW etk http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....7&hl=webetk
  6. how many RCA pre-outs? Are they 6 volt?

with swaps of parts/cats/storage,the engine is low cost/almost free clutch and flywheel also sorted/traded/$0 have 17's to fit with good rubber so thats also taken care of.also left overs/$0 Hmmm, I need friends like yours!! Looks like fun, keep us posted
  8. Would the driveshaft likely be the correct length for an E36? If so, seems to be a good deal for a complete repower / manual conversion for a deserving candidate. Would have to wonder if it was taken to a dodgy local workshop for a warrant if he just bullshi**ed the inspector & convinced him it was the factory motor. Stranger things have been known to happen

    Sell out sale.

How much for the complete 540i? Edit: any chance of a VIN as well please?
  10. Probably a dumbarse question, but would these go into an E36 sedan without faffing with the rails?
  11. Haha, sneaky spot to hide your boot release button thingy - never noticed that before
  12. Just proves that humans are closer kin to maggots than chimps
  13. Awesome! We'll be doing the same thing around mid April, though not with an M3 to drive junior home in Congratulations!
  14. How much for the complete manual conversion kit? Also, getrag or zf?
  15. vask.co.nz seems to be ok
  16. The Bentley manuals are pretty well the last word on any car without resorting to the factory literature, which is pretty well impossible to get a hold of unless you know someone that works for the relevant dealership. Octane books in Newmarket are a bloody good place to start, but be warned that the Bentleys often start at the $300 mark. Repco are rubbish with manuals, and I suspect the likes of McMillans will be less than helpful. Google often throws up useful data in the strangest of places but it really depends on how much time you want to waste on trawling through the sh*t before you find gold. I do have a PDF of the E36 Bentley if you'd like a copy, PM me your email address Edit: Octane are here in Auckland, their website is usually pretty good but it does pay to call and confirm availablility before ordering
  17. Sounds like your water pump might have started failing
  18. So the 'T' shifter on the 325 decided to disintegrate completely this afternoon. Have got a pistol style shifter from a '98 but it stands waaaaay too tall for the original shaft. Anyone know how to get around this without taking a hacksaw to it? Were the pistol style shifters a much shorter shaft? Anyone got a spare?
  19. Saw an M50 E34 today at the Mangere Pick a Part if anyones in need of a sump for their E30 conversion. Most engine parts still seemed to be there, though the rocker cover was off and the cams had started to get a little surface rust
  20. Hmmm, sorta negates the gain in lower priced parts once that gets taken into account. Is the Grab Snatch & Take threshold that low? Thieving bastards!!
  21. So the ABS light has recently returned on the 325, last time round it was the brake pedal travel sensor. Obviously I want to have this confirmed with a scan before proceeding but does anyone know if the sensor can be refurbed? (RealOEM #34331182594) Have replaced said part twice already with used items and I'm getting a little tired of doing the same job every bloody 12 months.
  22. Looking at bringing an order of braided brake line & cooling system hoses, amongst other things. Anyone have ideas on what shipping would be worth? Best I can tell the weight should be under 20 lb, whats the cutoff value of goods before it starts attracting import duties?
  23. Dammit Brent, stop hogging all the good stuff!! Looks like a winner man
  24. Check warning has been popping up intermittently, had put it down to a crappy sensor (has shown up on diagnostic scan before). Was still showing after topping up water so will have a look at whether it's just sticking. Whats the best way to sort it? Piece of wire down the spout and give it a gentle nudge? As for the heater, thankfully its the old A/C so just the single tap. Have got another lying around somewhere, will find out if I should bother changing it out first. Will be bussing tomorrow (shudder) so will take it for a gentle road test once I get home. Typical, these things have to happen at less than ideal times
  25. Yeah, the volume of water it took makes me highly uneasy. Check light came on when overflow tank was still full, am guessing the circuit/sensor has seen better days. Rechecked oil cap & dipstick, both are squeaky clean, oil service was done less than 1000ks ago. Have noticed normal amounts of condensation from exhaust on cool mornings but it certainly didn't seem out of the ordinary, i.e no visible exhaust when at normal temp.Coolant has remained at full level since last topup, is a roadtest still sensible or am I running the risk of blowing the HG completely to bits? And can anyone recommend a service agent close as possible to Ellerslie? Would rather take it to Glenn but am a bit nervous driving it that far in current state.
