  1. Thanx Chris... how did the PPI go ??
  2. We probably won't cross paths Michael. I have over the years enjoyed the imput you have given us over the years though. I'm now more into Motor Homing and my Grand children. The Ti has only done about 200km in the last five years now. It's still mint and is for sale
  3. Botany Motor Worx Ltd will cease trading as an Automotive Specialist repairer as of 12.05 pm tomorrow. It's been fun and there have been special moments which I've enjoyed sharing. But the time has come to enter a different time as the journey continues. I'll be around at the workshop over the next few weeks and may have a few bargains for the special people. Just give me a call first.
  4. Just to keep all my friends and customers here informed. Botany Motor Worx Ltd will cease trading as of 12.05 pm tomorrow. A lifestyle choice I'm going to enjoy. My phone number won't change, and for those that would want sensible help with issues feel free to give me a call
  5. Wow... I'm starting to learn how to be a copy & paste nerd

  7. ??? 5w30 full synthetic is the correct oil regardless of make so long as it meets the manufactures specs and Castrol was the BMW supplier at the time of manufacture
  8. It may sound negative, but I assure you it's factual and I'm not trying to downplay your desires and aspirations. I'm just stating facts based on my experience repairing BMW's- 53 years experience actually which stops this Friday with my retirement
  9. No offence intended James, but you are not lucky owning a BMW with an N46 motor and I would also suggest you forget doing mods for more HP and concentrate on trying to keep it on the road from a mechanical/maintenance perspective. And I really do know what I'm talking about and I'm not a copy and paste school kid that gets his information from the facepalm forums
  10. I'm implying that you won't get a guarantee of continuing service from the vehicle with no issues. I would however recommend BM Workshop Botany or Grey Lynn for any repair work you may need to have done. Even BMW only guaranteed the vehicle for 2 years from new and the dealers or local distributors gave it a further year in most countries. Something could sh*t it self at any time without warning. You could try buying a mechanical warranty so long as it hasn't been and isn't going to be modified to minimize future expense on component failures. You must also consider the age of the vehicle now and look at preventative maintenance , especially the cooling system and service the DCT and diff.
  11. There is no such person or business that could give you that guarantee. If you find one , let me know and I'll divert all my worldly goods and prayers to them
  12. Would the article be able to be vacuum packed, fitted into a box then filled will aerosol expandable foam Tom ??
  13. At a guess I would say it's a crankshaft position sensor because it's affecting DSC and ABS as well DME. The scan tool you are using is not adequate to evaluate this problem correctly
  14. Do you know what the brand of brake components are fitted ? Cheap Chinese knock off parts don't work on BMW's
  15. You sure it's the fan and not the final stage resistor ??
  16. Hope you all have a great holiday break and enjoy the festive season without too much drama. Botany Motor Worx Ltd will be closed from 12.01pm on Friday the 22nd of December till Monday the 15th of January. And before all the fake news and rumours start, Botany Motor Works Ltd will stop trading as a motor vehicle repair facility as of the 28th of February 2018. Botany Motor Worx Ltd is not in a financial situation and all commitments and financial commitments will be met on or before the 30th February 2018 I've had enough and I'm going fishing, but I do have a phone and am still available for advice and help to the many friends I have made here over the years.
  17. At 100k & 10 years old it's a money pit
  18. This works better https://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1481034724
  19. Sorry...that is wrong.. Floods have agricultural run off which also includes sulphates that have either been introduced through agriculture , salt use on roads in winter periods and historical coverage by sea sea water which could be millions of years ago. A flood's a flood. Electrical components and wiring will be damaged. There is no way I would touch that at the half the price the bidding has gone to
  20. Sulco Tools or SnapOn will have them 7 8 9 10 11 12 & 13mm spanners are required to cover work on all Euro brake systems. Follow your damaged brake line back to the next fitting and take it off with the correct spanner and just get a second hand brake line from the wreckers. Do not use a gas torch or vice grips when working on brake components
