  1. They are both low-6 sec for 0-100, but given more torque in the 540, I would say overtaking is easier in that.
  2. AMI was ok to deal with, but the other time I took out the my garage door with my car (how embarrassing), I was required to pay two excesses (one for house claim and one for car claim) My IAG commercial policy for my work car (self employ) is rubbish, took 3 weeks to sort out claims for the panel beater to start work.
  3. Isn't a lot of things automotive are built just because whoever that built it can? There's a 6-rotor Rotary engine somewhere on YouTube, Subaru had a flat-12 prototype, there was a tiny, fist-size V-12 hand-made engine mentioned couple of months back. Good on them for trying and push and see what things will go. I was hoping to see some white hot exhaust manifold, I guess they didn't run it long enough for that to happen.

    M3 vs rocks

+1 Why are there so many idiots on the road?

    COFFEE!

I have a Nespresso machine at home, Roma is good, also the Arpeggio (purple) and Indriya, as well as their annual special blend. Only complain is often it's not hot enough, must drink within 5-10 minutes. Otherwise, I like Espresso Workshop (Parnell & Britomart, Auckland) and Il Buco Ponsonby. Cold coffee drinks from Starbucks are fine, hot drinks are yuck! I have yet to come across any good hot drink from Starbucks. Speaking of chain stores, the better one is Esquire Dark Roast blend. You need to specifically ask when order (e.g. medium Latte on dark roast)

    Laptops

Pick something with an i5 and 64-bit OS in it and pimp it out with as much RAM as it can take. For storage, consider a Seagate Momentus XT 750GB + 8GB SSD hybrid drive. I had the older 500+4 version and it's VERY fast for a laptop drive. If $1000 is a strict budget, that means your base laptop would be around $700-800 mark.
  7. Maybe some "Italian tune up" will help.
  8. When all done and dusted, maybe you should call them in for fraud. Back where I came from (Hong Kong), police attend EVERY crash, big or small, even in private car park, as long as you call them. Sometimes I wish our police has this sort of man-power to do this.
  9. This I don't understand, how can someone NOT (admit) at fault when he/she crash into someone else?

    "My Family"

It's not the people that insure their stuff, it's to do with the people that don't own up when incident happens. For some insurer, it's up to the policy holder to prove the other party is at fault and get them to admit it. Maybe we are hoping compulsory cover will change this.
  12. Then clean or replace the idle control valve after the hose As for polish, any big brand stuff like Mother or Meguiar are fine.
  13. I wanted to but I only have a Mac Mini with Intel 3000HD graphics, does any know if this is "better" than the system requirement? (ATI Radeon HD 2400 or better / NVidia 8600M or better) Have they got a demo version that I can try?

+1 on this but how if they make insurance a pre-requsite for rego, people are just going to ignore the expired rego and keep driving anyway. They should have a law that says if you park a car on the street with expired rego (hence no insurance), it gets tow and impounded until paid or car gets sold after 28 days.

What and how exactly it all happened? It looked really serious
  17. I am not sure about the front on this new 3-series. Looks a bit of E85 Z4, a bit of i8, a bit of 5-series and so on. I do like the back though. This generation of BMW sedan has the best looking back-side out of the Audi BMW Merc. Those BMW air fresheners are just plain silly, Just don't smoke and air the interior once a week is all it takes.
  18. Just a note that the facelift e36 (at least mine did) have a larger 5.25" rear speakers.
  19. Stupid thought: light a camp fire near the outdoor unit.
  20. I have a Mitsubishi Electric heat pump, really quiet and cheap to run (around $10-15 extra per month, 3-5 hours per day avg, 5.4kW heating model). Mind you, I am in Auckland and wasn't "THAT" cold but never have trouble giving warmth first thing in the morning. Never seen frost on the outdoor unit either.
  21. There were 2 LCA bushes sizes when I tried to replaced them with Nolathane. Turns out my car with the M-sport suspension uses a bigger bushes of the 2 sizes in the catalogue. I guess with the M-sport arm, it's stiffer and helps holding the suspension geometry stable during hard corning?
  22. That's merely the price difference of 1 RFT vs normal tyre. Will keep that in mind when my RFTs need replacing. It depends of how big of a hole the puncture is, but they are good for most nail punctures in the treads but absolutely no good if you get a hole in the sidewall.
  23. Don't HID need headlamp washer as well?

  25. Many politicians have that sense of entitlement that they grab/enjoy what they can within the law during their terms probably because they think they are elected by the people hence it makes it ok. I don't think it's ok, while I don't expect them to live in a backpackers or BnB, but there's no need for 5 stars hotel spending thousands on room service AND roaming mobile calls. I can recall only a handful of politician around the world that live modestly and spend as little of public money when they go about the business even they are "entitled" to much more.
