The BMW B38 1.5L 3-cyclinder engine actually sound pretty good, almost like a 6 cyclinder

K-Mart has those contactless terminal for a while now. So much faster than using the chip-card slot. Back to topic, there are now RFID blocking wallets for the paranoid types. What gets me now is that we now have multiple RFID capable cards in our wallet and some are interfering with each other when placed on a reader. e.g. my AirNZ FlyBuys card is affecting the Snapper card when both are in the wallet. Defeats the purpose of "Just wave your wallet to pay", I still have to take the right card out.

I don't mind paying couple of $ per month to get a YouTube "Pro" that is ad-free. Every once in a while might have an ad or two that are well made but most of them are crap.

Hate to think how much it cost and probably only works with the latest 1 and 3 series. Most useful thing is probably the oil and water temp, since there's no gauge for them in the latest models.

Good move, but do the car manufacturer have to make the diagnostic EQUIPMENT available as well?
-
I've seen worse.

Depends on what sort of finish you are after and what exactly you mean by "good base". Considering a proper job is hours of work with specialist equipments (like a paint thickness gauge) and chemical, $800 is reasonable to achieve concourse grade finish. This guy charge even more for his "base package". (from UK, but still...) http://www.miracledetail.co.uk/ Have you consider DIY on this? Clay bar kit for $50 then 3-step system chemical can be had for around $100 plus elbow grease. Takes a full day of work.

I would disagree on this one. I know they used to be good, even though they are bit of a snob. But my personal experience recently with my VW had me trying to discourage anyone from going there. I would highly recommend German Kollision Haus in Glen Innes like most others did. Also has personal experience with this place, could not fault their work nor customer service. The fact that they are factory approved is even better.

They don't leak for no reason, you might want to find out WHY it's losing gas or you are gonna refill it more and more often.

I've gone down to 50GB, saved myself $20/mth from the 120GB plan that I don't even use half of. Thanks for the heads up.

Just note you can't do that if you are on Telecom XT, it's a 3G-only network. That said, I find Telecom 3G has better coverage than Voda 2G wherever I go. Go back to Crockett's question, when my wife upgrade from iPhone 4 to 4S, it does have better reception. Just wondering, if you talk a lot on mobile, why not get a good "phone phone" like a Nokia E-series business phone + iPod for your music.

I am curious to know why you need to know when an engine is made? With modern Just-in-Time manufacturing, it can't be far off from the car's manufacture's date?
-
Yeh you can - kerb humping. That's what utes are for when used in town

Me too, a Auckland one inside the car and a North Island one in the boot. Can't trust the cell phone reception all the time.
-
Not really, unless you are bored enough wanting Siri as a friend.

It's not sub-branding, just extra model line. If Audi can have with A, S and RS with 2 and 4 door version in one model family, I am quite happy for BMW to have FWD & RWD 1-series.

Very nice!

Use genuine BMW or Mercedes anti-freeze, which is blue in colour.

They didn't list every bond car in the movie, where the e38? Too boring comparing to the rest I guess. I like the latest DBS most, follow by the old DBS and Z8.

I upgraded from iPhone 3GS into a HTC One X recently, I was going to hold out for iPhone 5 but my iPhone broke so it didn't work out. My One X was free on promo last month at Telecom ($80 per month on 24 month), which is a great. I could have had the Samsung S3 for free on the same plan but I picked the One X on its better feel in hand, better camera, nicer screen (colour-wise, Samsung screen seems to be a bit blue-biased). Changing from my full Mac environment (iMac at home + iCloud + iPhone) into Android mobile (which doesn't sync with Mac out of the box), is easier than I thought. Rather than Mac Contact sync into Google sync into the phone (free but I had a lot of trouble with contacts duplicating itself this way), I paid for an App that read iCloud then put into the phone for me. Cost me $5. I've had bad experience with earlier Android (1.6 and 2.2) on some cheaper handset, now with Android 4 and a top-tier handset, I think it is as good as (and in some respects better than) an iPhone. I like the fact that Android is open for a bit of tinkering but at the same time it could be confusing for the less technical minded. My Android 4 experience so far has been pleasant and other than the iOS app that I've already paid for, I didn't miss anything by changing into Android. I can do everything that I did on iOS in my new Android, therefore I doubt I will go back to iPhone any time soon.
