  1. Great Event. Just want to say thank you to Gerry and the team that organise this. Managed to hitch a ride in the E90 M3 driven by instructor Mike Eady. This is quite an experience to be driven around "properly" on a track. Mike did a bit of showboating drifting through couple of the corners too. Here's some of my photos - feel free to comment and if you want the original high-res file, just let me know. http://www.flickr.com/photos/25703111@N06/...57626613366900/
  2. I like the e46 Compact as well, having had one couple of years back. It's something different due to the low production volume, as it meant to be a stop-gag after the e36 Ti cease production and before the 1-series came along. Also partly because this model was never introduced into the USA market. Nothing gone wrong with mine during the time I had it (318ti), pretty standard stuff really as it share most of its bits with normal e46s. Pretty sure the engine is chain driven. 325Ti are hard to find but they are pretty quick. Foot hard down, it pulls away (although slowly) from the e36 323i that I had back then. There are not much of price difference between models, see if you can hunt down one of the later ones that already have the M-bits on it, they do look better with the body kits.
  3. I have these on my 330Ci, it came with it when I bought the car 2 years, 25000km ago with 7mm thread. Now has 3-4mm left. I guess you could say 60% worn now. It's quite grippy but very noisy. I would be keen to try something else, I rather trade off some grip for quietness. I had a chat with Beaurepaires, they say they can't get the original Eagle F1 anymore as they are now replaced by F1 Asymmetrical which is a lot quieter. I couldn't find much review on this new F1A though.
  4. Thanks for the message, I've spoken to Gerry earlier and knew BMW Club membership wasn't necessary. What I mean was for them to confirm receiving my payment for the track training day. Anyway, it says to participate in high-speed sessions, overall and helmet are necessary. Is there any mininum spec for these things?
  5. Is there anyone going to be driving down Saturday morning from Auckland? I will be doing this, pending acceptance from the Club for entry. Thought might drive down together.
  6. I am also looking at this series for my wife, but the 15" model has full HD screen but same retail price from Sony Style stores. Maybe something to think about?
  7. Well, Windows is Windows and we all know how they are like. Hardware-wise I would recommend high-end Acer, IBM T-series. Both servered me well in the past. I haven't use Toshiba and HP myself but friends' experience wasn't the best with those brands. And my wife's Sony VAIO had serviced twice in the last year, once for the in-built webcam and the other time for failed hard drive. MacBook Pro is also good, there's a DLNA server that you can run to stream almost any media into a PS3. It's aluminum casing gets toasty warm quite quickly though, it's not really a "lap"top.
  8. Do you want cheap work done or good work done? For good work, I cannot go past German Kolision Haus in Glen Innes. One of the only two BMW authorised body shops in Auckland
  9. Become debt free, take an extended break from work, travel the world with my wife, sort out a long list of (over-due) DIYs in the house (sure I can afford to hire people, but DIY is part of the fun), then think about what to do with the rest.
  10. I love a M3 Touring too.
  11. Different SIM card might have different settings, Telecom used to have v2 and v3 SIM which fixes voicemail button on iPhone and Blackberry. But what's the difference between those Vodafone iPad2 SIM compare to old ones anyway? No one seems to know. For those that doesn't know, to get the 3G iPad 1 (or 2) working on whatever SIM, just pop it in and setup the correct APN for whatever network you are on. www.vodafone.net.nz <- Voda internet.telecom.co.nz <- Telecom internet <- 2 degree
  12. Are you sure they are tar stain? I've got some black spots on my wheels (not basketweave though) which I think is caked on brake dust. I've tried clay bar which works but too expensive to clay bar a wheel let alone the whole set. (those clay ain't cheap you know) Maybe cheaper to acid strip refurb?
  13. I just bought the deal off TreatMe, I'll make a booking with you soon. Looking forward to it!
  14. Agree. That's why I'll have my pre-paid XT microSIM ready when my iPad2 arrives. (My iPad1 came with a Voda SIM in the box, I didn't even open it.) 2D is good when you are on their cell towers, not so much when on Voda's. Mobbin: It better be good in Newmarket and Ponsonby, it's meant to be on HSDPA 2100 band in those area. Did they say WHY the iPad1 SIM won't work in the iPad2? Or they say it to con (erm... persuade) customer into buying another SIM so HQ can boast their market share? YooBee's queue is NUTz, ppl actually wait there with deck chairs and all from 10am to wait 7 hours to get their paws on the pad. 7pm when I got off work the queue is still all the way to Realto Mall. Lots of Twitter chat on this one.
  15. Wife has decided not to queue up, so made an order online just now. 16GB 3G White with Pink cover <- women! 2-3 weeks wait for shipment.
  16. Alarm set, going to sleep now (soon). Maybe seeing a few of you at 3am. Those smart covers are nice but pricey @ $69 (plastic) & $119 (leather). For $119 I can (almost) order hand made leather cover from Italy. Thinking.... thinking....
  17. Apple Online Store starts selling at 3am, retail at 5pm. (http://www.apple.com/nz/pr/library/2011/03/22ipad.html) MagnumMac (YooBee) is going to close at 4pm then reopen at 5 for a "special event". I wonder why on earth do they pick 5pm Friday to launch a product. People try to get home you know!
  18. as topic... I will, or at least try. Heard there's only a handful of each type & size per store... erm.

    BMW X6M

I would want one. This car gets to a point where it is so uncool that it's actually cool. I couldn't care less about rear headroom being poor. I'm always the driver.
  20. Price is not "THAT" bad compare to Hong Kong where I came from. Personalised Plate program is run by the Transport Department (~LTNZ here), put in an application along with HK$5000 (~NZ$950) deposit. Then the plate along with all other applications will group together in a public auction and you have to bid for it with the deposit as minimum price. You win, you pay extra on top to whatever the winning bid is, if you lose, you get your deposit back.

    Petro Octane

Until when you map the car for 98 and you end up middle of no where and can't find any of the damn 98s.

I even put 95 in my lawn mower, any leftover fuel I put it back in the car so I don't have to store them in the shed. I just get fresh fuel every time I mow the lawn. This discussion comes up every couple of months, just get the 95+ for modern BMWs. For the price of a coffee (or beer, shooter, a large can of V, etc...), you can fill up the tank (60L?) with what the car deserves to run on. I feel better knowing the car is running on the fuel it's suppose to run on.
  23. I'd wait for the next update for in-game save before attempting the endurance race. Just pausing the game & left the PS3 on over 3-4 days is silly.
  24. ^^^^ the pix are wrong order, but I am sure you got the idea.
