  1. There is not much to get used to it's just like driving a car, except you are on a virtual race track. I've never race on a real track so I don't know how they are different, but you do feel the bumps, camber change and lose traction as you fly over a crest, as well as the rumble strips on the side of track. The most important thing is positioning of the all the controls. If you don't have dedicated place for the wheels, you'll then need to be VERY creative with how and where you are going to sit and mount all the bits. Couple of photos for you. First pix is my friends which he modified a megazine rack and mount the wheel (the DFGT) and have the foot through the middle. He sit fairly upright in this set up. Second pix is mine, which I prop up one end of the coffee table and put my legs through the middle to reach the peddles while I sit on the sofa. I sit more like in a real car but the wheels are closer to my chest than I like. That's the best I can do for mine without spending extra money for a purpose made bracket.
  2. ^^ my friend have this (DFGT) and I've tried then got hooked into steering wheel control. It's massively different from using hand controller. Yesterday I bought the Logitech G27 at d*ck Smith (25% off !!) Between the two, G27 wheel turns smoother and nicer finished (real leather & metal), better bite on the carpet & has a clutch for the foot pedals, you can mount the gear shift (H-pattern 6 speed vs +/- on DFGT) on anywhere. The force-feedback motor mechanism is MUCH quieter. There's rev limit LED light for the geeks but they don't do much as they are too low. If you can afford the difference in $$ for the above features, you won't regret it. However, being NOT a officially endorsed wheel in GT5, there are some setting up if you want to use some intricate features that you can have out of the box with DFGT. Namely the on-the-fly adjustment for TCS while in-race. Of course, you'll then need this... http://www.wheelstandpro.com.au/
  3. Pretty sure diesel don't ignite like this. Don't flea bomb a car, not design for closed/small space like car. Ant bait I would concur. If you don't like chemicals, then the other choice is to kill when seen until no more.
  4. For that sort of money, might be able to hire one for the day?
  5. Why is WP7 getting the spotlight now when all the past Windows mobile OS failed (pretty much)? Where does Blackberry sit amongst all this or are they irrelevant? At around 15% smartphone market share, surely that should mean something?
  6. So I guess the iPhone 4 is your day to day, "most-used" phone? With Nokia going to WM7 for their high-end stuff, is there any point in Symbian OS from now? Is Symbian going to stay with the mid-range stuff (5000 series, etc...) or getting phrased out completely over the next product cycle or two.
  7. Or go online for that GTR/SS7 glitch thing to earn multi-million dollars and hundreds of thousands experience in 20 minutes.
  8. Your wheels are probably on the metal plates where sections of the bridge joint together. There are absolutely no traction on them wet or dry.
  9. Special races with pre-set limitations for you to join and play. They come and go in 2-3 week periods and replaced by new ones.
  10. This reminds me when I question Voda about what advantage they have over XT last year shortly after the XT fail, they told me they have "2 networks - 2G & 3G" and don't have to worry because they have a backup network. What a load of cr*p. I thought the point is to have 1 well planned, designed and built network to service the customer instead of 2 or 3 so the devices are jumping between them for best signal. That new Vodafone SureSignal device is a testament to the crappiness of their own network. Customer should not need to pay ($350+) to have their signal boosted. A reasonably good signal should be provided and included in the monthly fees.
  11. ^ what he said. Add decent oil when you do, 5W30 5W40 preferably something that conforms to BMW LL01 standard like Shell Helix Ultra, etc...
  12. I assum you want the doors to lock as you drive off? You'll need a dealer computer to program that.

    V6 MINI

So you are suggesting to put maybe a Jaguar V12 from like a XJ from the 80s?
  14. What do I stuff it with or to do if I want to thicken the rim (bigger girth). As my non-M steering is a bit thin for my liking, after driving my friends' M3.
  15. My friend lives in Grey Lynn and same situation as you, I am in the progress of switching her over into Telecom. Since your mobile internet is pre-pay, I'd say ditch Voda now and buy a Telecom stick. Before you throw your laptop through the wall from frustrations.
  16. I have a iPhone 3GS on Telecom XT which I use sometimes as Mobile Broadband through tethering on Macbook I also has Nokia E72 on Vodafone which is my work phone Basically confirmed all the above Voda is sh*t, patchy reception, mediocre voice quality, unable to make calls in CBD due to network overloading (couple of times last week) XT is awesome, being laugh at for network shutdown last year but it's much much improved. Good reception everywhere, voice quality so good even just 1 bar will beat Voda on full bars. Internet is so quick to the point I though I am at home. However.... if you are porting 021 number into XT, make sure your friends know you are on different network otherwise they will rack up a text bill for themselves XT plans are slightly less flexible compare to Voda's YouChoose when it comes to the add-ons and you get slightly less for your money, but the difference price is worth the extra quality of service you are getting. If you are using an existing device with XT, make sure it support HSDPA in 850 and 2100 frequency. Although all 3G devices Voda sell does 2100 but not many has 850. (iPhone 4 & 3G is ok)
  17. I have a Griffith 500 and the Speed 12, both very odd handling and understeer A LOT. Then when you give it some gas exiting a corner and tail will get loose; when I try to give it opposite lock, it then tank slapping until I lost it and do 3x 360s on me. I pretty much gave up on the Speed 12 (it was as bad as I remembered since GT2) and I had a rear spoiler on the 500 with some camber/toe adjustment made it better. M3 CSL and M3 GTR Street car are nice, McLaren F1 race car is awesome, also tuned up a 700hp Ford SVT F150 that out run the Ferrari just for kicks. I love the Caterham Fireblade, 12000 rpm red-line and under 400kg, possibly the lightest car in the game except for the karts. Discovered that Bugatti Veyron is useless on a track, Jay Leno tank car is a joke, all F1 cars are insanely good but insanely difficult to master. It's a game with unlimited playability as long as you see it as a race/driving simulator and NOT as a driving "game". Playing online is awesome especially when you find someone of similar skill level that does NOT bump you off the track at the first corner. Have not had a good game for a while. I also love the Honda S2000 and started a collection of the thing for every variation in the game (Mugen, Type-V, LM, Race, etc...). Anyone doing something similar? (maybe for a different car?)

    Hit and run :(

You still liable for excess until you find out and tell the insurance who cause the damage so they can go after him/her to recover their cost.
  19. Not that pretty really. What's with the fake boobs and fishnets....
  20. Any decent wheel store would carry the hub rings, has any of the balancing weight fall off?
  21. Just make sure the tyres are cold when you check pressure to ensure consistency. I just run whatever the manual/door jamb says (forgot what that is now), but add a couple of PSI for long motorway trip or full load of people/luggage.

    Hit and run :(

Usually few hundred but depends on what you drive I guess. Had a old Mini with 3rd party for $80 thru AA 97 Civic with VTEC - $280 thru AMI
  23. The auto correct tends to correct any typo towards sex and negativity for some reason. But boy, I had a laugh there...
  24. Not too sure about the low k, I see them everywhere, back and forth city, airport and hotel all the time.
  25. Should have let her bump into you then she change lane without checking properly. Possibily careless driving there. Now she could have said you being silly and run into the curb on your own and she just happens to be next to you. Is there any witness behind you? Suppose it's too late now but just saying. Too many idiots on the road, both young and old. Just drive save and be patience, few minutes of your time doesn't worth the hundreds of dollars of damage that could cost in an accident. ^^ and this comes from a Courier driver. Hope this will sink in to you and everyone.
