  1. Hi guys, Just got a plain letter with no letter head with a phone number and reference number asking me to call them for an "urgent matter" and the above 0800 number. Anyone ever got one of these? I called them and they claim it's BayCorp. It just seems seedy to me. If they are genuine, could have send something with a letterhead and make it official. Or could this be a scam?
  2. What car is it? Looks like a Mazda 6 to me?

    5 Million

erm.... tough choices. Agree on the don't tell anyone part. Friends and family that you didn't know they existed will come out of nowhere. Will keep working but do something that I like plus a bit of volunteering 1 mill in term deposit and use interest to travel every year (~30-40k per year?) 1 mill in some nice cars + running them (Aston Martin v12 Vantage S for me, whatever wife like for her, X6M + 3-series wagon as a daily) 2 mill in properties (~1 mill to live in, spilt the rest 3-4 ways on a few rentals) 1/2 mill in charities (over 10+ years to avoid too much nagging) 1/2 mill to blow it in general (AV gears, tech gadgets, etc...)
  4. Thank you to Scott (Palazzo) and Dave (M3AN), I've got my (son's) collection sorted. Cheers!
  5. Here's the list if you need it. BMW WebETK.pdf
  6. Thank you for Driftracewake and M3EN, PM-ed. QUBE: will pass on any duplicates to you once I've tried to complete a collection for my son. Thank you again everyone!
  7. It must felt like driving a land yacht in a 760

  9. Can you pin point what's causing the smell first? Spill milk? Cigarette? Sweat? All the above will work for something and not others.
  10. Bit of a plug for my own listing. I bought some of the bits to do the seal replacement, but sold the car before I had the chance to do it. If you are interested, let me know. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=746889343
  11. No way, base model manual 911 starts at just under $200k. 2011 M3 HP with DCT was $175k I reckon it should be close to Audi RS4/RS5 level of $155k/$166k
  12. What difference does it make being DC vs AC? Is one more powerful or efficient to the other?

    BMW i3

Range Extender version is like 35k UK Pounds RRP there. So, guessing 80k+ when it gets here? That's absurd amount of money. That said, all the engineering that goes behind it are impressive.
  14. Thought one has to give details by law. Could call the cops?
  15. U-turn at traffic light by the Thai restaurant. It's actually legal to do so but watch the traffic coming down Parnell Rise as they have right of way. Or In any 4x4, kurb hump your way across outside Caltex. Seen that a few times before.
  16. Hella used to make a e36 specific housing with HID as a complete package with ballast and bulbs. Super expensive back then, good luck finding one. That's the only "legal" way to go about it for a e36.
  17. What are the chances of the plaintiff winning this one. If it doesn't get thrown out, bet it will settle out of court for undisclosed sum. Porsche sued over crash that killed Paul Walker http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/10039745/Porsche-sued-over-crash-that-killed-Paul-Walker
  18. Diverted calls don't deduct from included minutes if I recalled correctly, it charges as if they are overages on the line diverted out.

    LED Bulbs

Forget using them as headlights, no where near bright enough and the pattern is all over the place. Most change the number plate light and front park light/angel eye bulb for a bit of bling.

    LED Bulbs

From memory, on e46, all the exterior light except the side repeaters have bulb detection. The bulb warning can be turned off through software through OBD diagnostic port. So, if you have those USB -> OBD thing bought on Trademe/eBay, you can change settings and no resisters needed.
  21. Those same shoes probably another 30% cheaper from overseas
  22. Run flat is the sort of thing that you won't appreciate until it saved you. It's more expensive, it's a bit harder riding but I need the boot space for the pram, I like the peace of mine my wife won't have to worry about changing tyre in the rain in middle of no where with a baby in the car. So there. It can be repaired if punctured, $40 at BMW dealer and it's cheaper than some chain tyre store trying to charge me. I was in and out in half hour and get to have a free espresso in the show room! I know I didn't answer the question, but seriously consider putting the run flat back on if you have factory rims. Otherwise, the M-mobility kit is the mininum requirement. Couple of hundred with the can of goo from dealer I think?

    Heatpumps..

I've had 3 Mitsubishi and 1 Fujitsu so far, Fujitsu is noticeably nosier but perfectly acceptable. Besides that, no problem to speak of.
  24. 100hp difference, aluminum body panel, unique suspension setup tells the whole story really. Though e46 m3 only comes in pre-FL shape. M3 probably holds it's value much better than a 330 over a longer term.
  25. The original owner probably not realise they can or they were forced to take a certain kind of wood trim from dealer. Often there were different shades of wood colour and usually no cost to switch when ordering a new car. My e46 had a very light colour wood trim looks very good in the car.
