  1. Friend was there and he felt the same. M2 is super nimble around the track, the M5/6 are too heavy and quite a handful in the wet. He also picked the M3 over everything else. Lucky boy. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
  2. I suppose you meant something like this? http://www.ozonlpg.com/Autogas_LPG_Conversion_BMW_X5_4400cc_V8_Valvetronic_year_2005.html There's a place in Mt. Eden that does it next to Woolf Exhaust opposite 72 Dominion Road.
  3. Wherever you see the sign... Bonus points to replicate it.
  4. Just found these at the Warehouse, thought some might be interested. They have e30 M3, Z4M, the old M1 and a K-series motor bike
  5. $1k is enough to do a half decent valet/cleaning 3 times. It will go even further if you have a bit of know how and DIY. I wouldn't bother if I were you, which is exactly what I did when I bought my car at dealers.
  6. Maybe for some kind of engineering place to fabricate them?
  7. I like those square camel hump (is there a proper name for them?) rather than the one across the whole width of the street. Regular car drive thru at reasonable speed and lowered cars has to slow right down for them and larger vehicles like buses with wider track are unaffected.
  8. Even if it comes to NZ, who would spend half mil on a BMW land yacht?
  9. Dealer WOF is no more expensive than a AA or VTNZ one. You even get free coffee and SKYTV while you wait. But if they picked up anything need repairing, those prices are a bit higher than other mechanics.
  10. Why do they have to stuff all the letters on the back on one side. In the 80/90s, Mercedes 190CE 2.5-16 Cosworth is across two corners. First gen X5 has just X5 on the boot and 3.0 /4.4, etc on the front quarters. Problem solved.

    BMW goes self drive

Didn't they make a self-drifting car a year or so ago. How is this "news"?
  12. What carrier does that come in by? USPS? If so, contact NZ Post on 0800501501. Last time I did it they gave me a custom's reference number to pay them money, customs will ok it and give permission to release then I can collect from international mail centre at Auckland Airport the next day. This process took me 3 days.
  13. Time to get friendly with a WOF inspector. Seriously though, could get away with a goo can/inflator kit? Some M cars are non-RFT ex-factory and has no spares.
  14. Hasn't been following for a few years. Basically since Schmecca (spelling?) quits the first time round. One of the most interesting thing for me is the pit stops. It used to take like 15 seconds and now is just few seconds.

Probably not make much difference once the car is in motion?
  16. At 10-20k spend on a card per year, an average reward rate of 1% (some card more, some less), many of us mere mortals can barely earn enough to cover its annual fees. Might as well get a standard cash back reward cards. I still paying off my older credit card debt, so I changed to a low rate card until I pay them off. No reward programs on that but I save on interest.
  17. If you are in a position to not pay any interest, then work out the highest tier card you can get which tends to have higher reward returns as long as it is more than enough to cover their higher annual fees. Spending 100k on a card per year? Sure. Paid on behalf of company to entertain clients then claim it back, big overseas trip, buy a car, yacht, jetski, bikes, etc... But platinum has other perks like complimentary travel insurance and concierge program if you ever can make use of it. Some high tier Amex cards have airport lounge access, etc. But their points program is a bit disappointing.
  18. That's what happen when an idiot thinks they are better than the DSC and DTC
  19. I'd prefer any car with a sunroof over without. It's the convertible without being one.

    Cops & Plates

Pretty sure the fine is $200 for running "unauthorized plates", least that's what my wife got couple years back.

    Cops & Plates

You think anyone can just make up a plate of anything then go off do something dodgy is a right thing? (Not saying everyone will) I reckon if they train up the parking wardens to catch this one, we might get enough $$$ to build Len Brown's train set.
  22. Never a fan of prank calls, period. Never listens to them. Just spare a thought to the poor person that answers the call.
  23. Don't think your wheel is factory BMW. It's likely after market. You sure your lights pattern are wrong way? It should be higher on left like this \__
  24. SSG gearbox, there were 2 of them on the 330Ci, 5 speed and 6 speed. I had one with a 6 speed which shares it with the Z4 from the same era. I owned the car for 3 years over 65000km and had no issue with it. No maintenance needed on them. They are rare and a bit left field, treat it as a manual with a robot-ised clutch will be a close description of it. Like DSG of the VW, they hate doing traffic light GP, which is what kills them quickly for worn clutch. 5 speed version, from memory, share components from slightly older Alfa Romeo Selispeed (spelling?) semi-auto. That would give you some ideas. Oh, while on SSG, both 5&6 speed have launch control. Very effective and precise with a right amount of wheel spin to keep the rev up on take off. Those dotted lines laid down by the tyres is a thing of beauty. (As oppose to me try to do it in a manual gearbox car)
  25. E46 has life time fluid which unless there is a leak, you don't need to fill it. But if you want to do it, fill it up to the fill plug to "just" not overflow, close it, warm up the car and recheck. Also, for auto box, it uses a special fluid LT71141. Don't mix it with your normal Dexron 3.
