It gets murkier and murkier.....
-
If you cant figure it out, and before you throw parts and money at it, take it to autolign for them to align as the place you have been going to sound like they dont know what they are doing.
-
Yea, its on trademe. I got a pair of brand new firestone 245/40/18 for $19 each and a brand new m52 fuel rail for $1
-
Plenty of tyre stock in the background there for "testing".
-
Sounds like a perfect solution. Your task is to now find what offset and width those wheels are available in, and have someone like @qube advise you on the best choice for your car.
-
@HalfJobHarry makes a good point though, and I can see both sides. Learning to do the work on your own car is rewarding and a money saver, as long as you do it properly and with proper parts. Then there are some jobs best left to the professionals. And finally, there are always idiots out there like Glenn and others have given examples of.

Every time you take the inlet off. In the scheme of things spending a few extra dollars on a new inlet gasket is peanuts. And much better than having to pull the inlet again if you have a leak.
-
BMW newmarket are selling them at a much reduced price
-
Another option is to just replace the rear wheels with a wider wheel in the correct offset. That way you wont need spacers, and you wont need a cert. 205 is way to small for an e39 so you would want to put wider tyres up front. As the wheels are new perhaps your mate will exchange the rears for something in a more suitable offset and width?

I bet it was a 320i too.

Always change the gaskets.
-
@kvmvl What offset are your wheels?
-
Listen to Glenn. I didnt with my n46 and paid the price.

Put some bricks in the boot

Damnit. First time I've ever seen a Labour government actually reduce bureaucracy and costs instead of increase it so that was a suprise.
-
Good news that the diy rules have been relaxed so you can now build a 30sqm structure on your land without consent. I wonder if this includes garages.
-
Yea, I've only built two engines in my life. A 2 litre pinto engine for my 1976 ford escort when I was a teenager, and a n46 a few years back. I've done heaps of other car projects so i guess i'm a bit surprised at only building two. Done a few headgasket replacements too. My current build is more ambitious - a m62b46 with a m122 blower and dry sump system.

What epoxy/paint do people recommend for a concrete garage floor? I want something really hard wearing. I dont mean to hijack the thread - I just thought here was a better place to keep all the information in the same place.

Why was Ron/William put on restriction in the first place? Hes another guy with alot of knowledge.

What I would do is advertise the soil for free, as people always need it and they will come and take it away. As long as its not clay, there will be plenty of people willing to take it, especially with lockdown over.

Get the sparkys to run the cabling before you line the walls and it will save you heaps of time
