This should be a good project. If the rear arch is really bad and needs replacing, you could always graft some m3 ones on in preparation for bigger tyres to handle the future power increase.

Add a catch can or cyclone separator, and keep the ccv like Warren recommends. And its the internals of the catchcan that are important and not all catchcans are created equally.

Much better to sell and buy a 330i. The n42 will cost you more in maintenance and you wont get as much power.

Read the writing on the front face of the wheel - bbs usually states the wheel model there.

I'm not in a position to buy these, but I am curious to their performance. How much better do they light up the road over stock? I see the +200% brighter light, but I'm more interested in real world performance.

Its in the thousands. probably $2k-$3k. If it fails when you are driving you have a very high chance of completely destroying the engine. You need to add the cost of the camchain repair job onto any m62 you buy at these kms if it hasn't been done already.

Totally agree. Timing chains tend to fail around 200k and are a very expensive fix.

To do it properly takes longer than 30min per guard, because if you move it too fast the metal warps or the paint cracks or both. And in the rear (of the e46's at least) there is a rubber piece which needs removing which is a total pita.

I agree regarding Stocks. Their prices are through the roof and they try and get out of repairing their faulty workmanship.

Crazy that the twin turboed m60 bike 'only' makes 360hp. Thats only 74hp above stock which can be achieved without turbos
