Looks well looked after, but $5k prob needs to be set aside for chain guides if they haven't been done yet
-
Maybe someone should buy something really cheap and small, and see if it turns up
-
Where did you go for the tyre fitting?
-
Take some pics of the numbers and letters on the back
-
$1100 to install a wheel bearing is criminal. Even if they charge $100 per hour, thats eleven hours to do a wheel bearing
-
That is truly impressive. Did you take any pics from when you were building the speakers? The matrix inside sounds similar to what b&w did with their 8 series speakers. And do you have any pics of the amps?
-
Really cool. How about some pics of your build @wrs

I checked mine last night and its 82mm id too
-
This is a bargain for someone at that price

Great info there Neal. I looked up the harness guy and it doesn't look like he makes anything for e46? Am I missing something?

+1 for Kayne Barrie

Your toe was way out. It must drive so much better now

I'm in Otahuhu, you are welcome to have a look. The tyres are mint as they are almost new. Looking for $900

Bracket. Depth is fine. I cut up the stock speakers to make baffles out of but further down the road I will make some proper ones out of mdf

Counselling and medication are two things that really helped me. I was very anti medication but once I gave it a go it changed my life.

Any progress on this install? Im in the same boat and have discovered today that the aftermarket 6.5 speakers dont fit in the touring rear speaker factory pods

The curb weight of a touring e39 530i is 1750kg, and a touring e39 540i is 1845kg. Why go to all the expense of installing an m3 engine when it has considerably less torque than what the 540i came with from the factory? And thats all before we even mention the s62 from the m5.
-
@BatMansWilly Conor has one he is thinking of selling. 328i and msport
-
What engine is going in the mk1?
-
Out of all the choices, I like @BM WORLD's v12 idea most. No point putting in an engine that it came from the factory with, and the costs will be several times more its value. The six cylinder options are underpowered in a heavy car - the m3 motors on offer came from cars that are nearly half a ton lighter and are not considered incredibly fast by todays standards. Paying someone to do a full driveline swap is going to be super expensive so you might as well go full send and v12 it. You will have a very unique car, with torque to burn.
-
m62 swaps will be expensive to do properly but will be many times better. I wouldn't even bother with a b30 swap as the e39 is a heavy car. Bear in mind a m62 engine will require the chain guides to be replaced unless it is a very low kms engine. This is not a cheap job. As others have said, starting with a v8 e39 makes more sense, but if you are attached to yours, then a donor vehicle will make life alot easier and cheaper. Im partway through putting a m62b46 and 420g into a e46 so ask away and I will do my best to answer your questions

I dont have 168's but I have a set of 87's which are the same size and offsets if you are interested
-
Well that sucks. At least whoever did the manual swap used a zf trans, as they are much better than the getrag 220's some use. Aaron Prattley makes some real nice chassis mounted shifters for reasonable money

Vacuum or boost leaks? weak or leaky injectors?
